Cold steel is quite possibly my favorite company in the world, they make the most ridiculous mall ninja certified knives with a straight face and sincere heart. Of course having Lynn at the helm and as the public face of the company makes everything they do better.

Dr. Wingdings CS appeals to the kid in us. Pretty fun. I would pay extra to see these made in the U.S. Spyderco has awesome and unique designs too, but offer many that are made here for those who care enough to pay for it.

He's a knife geek. If you ever get to meet him in person, you will find he is VERY personable and treats EVERYONE like they are the number one customer. Met him many times at the parking lot sale, he's there both days all day from before they open till after they close. He usually walks the line of people waiting to get in, greeting and shaking hands with people. People talk smack about him and his videos, but he is one super nice guy.

I just LOVE that you're finally making an SR1 with a tanto point! My pocket knives always get hard workouts, both in woodcraft and cutting heavy latigo leather for harnesses. A tanto point will always penetrate these materials (and more) easily, and that 5mm thick blade will not only give it weight and heft for hard use, I'm sure it will never break in those instances when you need to pry something apart.

He mentions the Ti-Lite and that is one of my all-time favorite knives! I had seen it in the catalog and was like “Eh...” but was over a friend’s house one day and he had one so I picked it up to check it out. I instantly fell in love with it! The feel is great! I love the look, how quick it opens, and just how nimble it feels in the hand.

I had the chance to meet Lynn several years ago. My wife became friends with his wife and they came over for dinner once. I had heard his name, but didn't really know much about him. They arrived with a bottle of wine in hand. He was a really nice guy and we hit it off from the start. He had lots of great stories, a really warm demeanor and a big hardy laugh. When we sat down for dinner, he started dishing out meat on his plate. I said try some of my wife's brussels sprouts, but he said that he only ate meat. When he was finished getting his food, there was almost no beef left for the rest of us. He had about 4 lbs of meat and he ate every bite of it. After dinner, my wife let her prized long haired Chihuahua out. Big Lynn picked up the tiny dog and held her gently. He asked my wife the dogs name and she responded, "That's miss ChaCha". Lynn laughed and stroked her fur as be baby talked her. It was funny to see him being so child like. We continued to drink and talk and Miss ChaCha went about her normal business, but she stayed close to Lynn and eventually went to sleep next to his boot. In a little bit, Miss ChaCha woke up and got on the sofa next to Lynn. He started petting her again as he talked to us. He kept saying that she was a beautiful little girl. As they were leaving, Lynn picked up Miss ChaCha and held her lovingly against his neck. I said, "She really like you!", as she softly licked his face. He smiled and held her close and said that she had a beautiful soul. She looked like she went into a trance as he held her. He gave her a gentle kiss on the head and carefully laid her on a pillow on the sofa. I reached over to pet her and Lynn looked at me with a gentle smile and softly said, "She's free now". At first I thought he was joking and I started to laugh but then I realized that he had killed or sweet little dog with his bare hands. He looked at me with a level of intensity that I have never seen, while still smiling, and said, "Thank you". My wife, in disbelief, picked up Miss ChaCha and started to cry. Lynn gently put his hand on my wife's back and said, "She's mine now". All I could think was, oh shit! This crazy bastard just killed our Chihuahua and now he's going to take my wife. I tried to avoid eye contact as I said, "Go easy Lynn. I'm married to her". For a second, he looked confused but then he smiled and started to laugh as he placed his hand firmly on my back. He gently took Miss ChaCha's limp body from my wife's shaking hands. It was then that I realized that he had no intentions of taking my wife. I'll never forget the look of innocence and joy on his face as he said, "Love transcends death." Neither my wife or I said a word. As he started out the door, still holding Miss ChaCha, he leaned over, kissed my wife's cheek and said, "thank you for the beautiful trophy".

It would be really cool to see Cold Steel try their hand at a really slim, thinly ground, pure edc folder with really good materials. They definitely have the value going for them and I think they would kill it if they tapped into that market more.

Without a doubt one my knives if I could only have 3 would be the Cold Steel Bowie Machete. You guys knocked it out of the park with those things. So glad you started making them again. They are very durable and easy to sharpen and hold a great edge. I always carry one in the swamps around here because they are great for hacking through brush in a tight area and I think even sasquatch would run if I had to use it for defense. Liked the first one so much I bought 2 more!

I got them(san mai version) for aesthetic collection, I am not really sure whether there is any diff in both the old and new in terms of edge retention or any performances factors.

My three knives: 1. My Enzo Trapper in Elmax steel. This is an edge you cannot dull. At about $160 this is not cheap but is less than many other top knives such as Bark River in the same steel. The Trapper is an excellent fixed blade, full tang, general purpose knife. 2. My Flexcut Left-Handed Carvin' Jack, Folding Multi-Tool for Woodcarving. No multi-tool is as good as a single-use tool, but the carving jack is as good as a carving multitool can get. When you need to work wood, this is the tool to do it with. 6 blades to carve what you need. Plus it comes with a strop and compound to keep it sharp. 3. My Leatherman Super Tool 300. This is a weighty tool, but strong as an ox and it covers the common uses the other two don't do. In the real world, if you can only have three knives, these three will do everything you can actually seriously use a knife to do. Now if multi-tools are not allowed then my last two are 2a. Boker Carver's Congress Whittler Pocket Knife. This is the top of the line. It is a 4 blade dedicated whitling knife. Sharp as the devil and a great carving pocket knife. 3. Flexcut 5 inch Draw Knife. This is a very useful tool for shaping wood. These three knives will do everything to wood you may want to do except carve a bowl, which means if I had a 4th knife it would be the Morakniv 164 hook knife.

Kabar Usmc Fighting Knife, Swiss Army Knife Cadet, and any 3 inch Kershaw with Speedsafe. These are the knives that I've used routinely. They cover all my bases and then some. I didn't say a specific Kershaw because the one I EDC doesn't have a name, but I've been using it for close to a year.

Currently have the Recon 1 for my EDC. Just bought the Espada large from Blade HQ to give that a try. Prior to that was a Benchmade mini griptillian but decided it's too small for defensive purposes. If the Espada is too big for EDC the Recon 1 might be the sweet spot but I'll have to see when it gets in.

My aunt worked at your office for years in Ventura. I didn’t even know you were local or that she worked at Cold Steel until she saw one of my knives and recognized it. (An urban pal I think) I Still have several. Great work. (She has some funny stories of knives flying by her while she was at the desk. Lol) sounds like a fun place.
