    Hello from Ireland - I have owned Saabs on and off for many years and its been a while since I had one - my current car is a 2008 Merc C Class diesel - auto and its served me very well and reliably for quite some time. The new generation Saab is very appealing and I am considering a 2010 Vector SE / 2 lTR Diesel - one owner from new with a full service history and the only niggle I have is its Manual .. but thats not a deal breaker - the car has 161,000km.... I think that new generation Saab 9-5 is a timeless future classic and it sure looks a lot better then the C Class Merc.. but its a head scratching decision to jump from my ultra reliable and very economical C Class to the Saab..

    Fantastic car Marcus. It’s quite rare to see one of these cars especially the XWD Aero V6. Yours is in great condition, almost like new.. I hope to get one of these in the near future, with the same interior and spec. The wheels look great but I prefer the type featured in this video seen on the 9-5 Aero estate. They look outstanding. Thank you for filming your car pick up. It’s definitely inspired me to get one myself.👍

    I'm a proud owner since April 2018. Bought from my pal for £5000 (would have been £6000 from a stranger), even though it is the cheapest Vector version and a bit underpowered (1.6 turbo), I still love it to bits and wouldn't swap for anything else!

    I don't really know as I don't take interest in mods, am ok with the car the way it is. My only concern is the parts availability for future maintenance. It's a rare model, only 300 cars in the entire UK.

  • @TechCars

    It's just a new software for the engine ECU, no more modifications, if you feel it's underpowered. I found a swedish company that bring it up to 228hp and 324Nm. Only 300 in the UK? Didn't know. That's really a rare model over there then. I do hope GM and Orio solves any coming issues with spare parts. Enjoy your New Generation 9-5 ! BR SaabCars

     @SaabCars I bought it :-) 13000k euro's 90500KM, 2.oT chipped to 290 bhp. Pro's: - It's really fast for a 1700kg vehicle. Like holy fuck if you get the kickdown right. - The overall state is near mint. One parking scratch and only two dash buttons have wear signs ( i've seen dashes with 34 all black buttons, Good Job GM) - The maintenance is impeccable, all creases under rubbers are clean, engine bay is not detailed but very clean. interior is almost flawless. - 3 major services over the last 25k km - The seats are AMAZING - No creaks in the suspension whatsoever. - GOD IT LOOKS GOOD ( i've had 2 "NICE CAR!"s on my first day of owning it. Not gonna lie that feels good. - i bought it from a known Saab enthusiast with tons of saab expert netwerk knowledge. Meaning i get 15% off labour and parts. Con's - I forgot/blocked out how expensive petrol was and how little mileage you get from it. 100 euros for a 90% full tank! I can't even put 100 euros worth of diesel in my Focus. I mean i knew it but still it sucks. - It's not the vector or aero edition so missing some nice to have options. (advanced front suspension + settings) - I still don't love the rims, kind of ok with the headlights after some time. - I still don't like non-ctv automatics. My honda civic hybrid ctv was still the best auto i've ever driven. Including several dsg's and the saab 6-speed. - It pulls to the right more than i'm willing to accept. yay 3 months dealer warranty. - how the fuck is this still only handsfree BT? Even the full nav system doesn't feature phone playback. For shame SAAB!

    Nice car, congratulations. Good luck on getting parts - my Saab mechanic has one and if something goes wrong, he has to machine parts from Buick (the Lacrosse is similar) to make it work on his. Body panels in an accident are a bear to replace - he prays he never gets in one. The old 9-3/9-5 is much easier to get parts for of course, as nearly a million of those each were built.

  • @TechCars

    Can't they just leverage the current Saab parts network? They actually still have a dealer network of Saab mechanics nationally and supply parts to all of them from inventory (and the last run on the manufacturing line in Sweden). The "dealers" are mostly independent shops that specialize in Saab repair (I am aware of this as I used to work on my own car but don't anymore). www.thesaabsite.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItdXIgZTL2AIVXYGyCh0RbwDKEAAYASAAEgIPHvD_BwE

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes I know. I guess some of the suppliers are still a bit scared or want to to sign up on very MOQ's which makes it a great investment. The light bar is such an example. From a production POV there is nothing that is too complex, they have the production-files they just need to find somebody that can do it. There is a great repair-kit that is just as good, but some people just want to buy it new from the shelf and I can understand that.

    It's interesting how colour also plays a part in how a car presents itself. I noted when you pulled into the dealership where you picked up your new Saab, that there was a white saloon of the same spec. personally it looked awful in white - did not suit the body shape at all. Yet your colour on your car made it a lot better, very racy. Some cars work very well in white but not this model of Saab, it destroyed the styling. Enjoy.

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    Thanks. I guess it all comes down to personal taste. I know people that say the arctic white is the best color for the NG9-5. I've always had black cars, now I wanted something in between. A white car need some care since every spot is visible. Black is not the best color either.. The paint need some work now and then. The color on the NG9-5 is Granite Grey and I think it change between grey and some grey/green color in the sun. Looks pretty good :) Enjoy the channel. Thanks for your support Mark. BR SaabCars

    Congrats to the car :) I see you had a chance to see 2 95 SportCombis 2012, because the Czech (ZSM SAAB1) one was also "miraclously" in Autohaus Lafrentz in Kiel as well :) which is interesting, most probably on his way to Trollhattan SAAB festival. What is isteresting about ng95, you can never have all the options. Some simply could not have been ordered together. I know that in the shop you bought it from, they made it to work the most of them together (that previously did not work together) but still :) for example premium leather could not be ventilated seat... etc.

    I have the privilige of owning & driving a 9.5 2.3 T Aero 2008 Great car, but you really have no use for 260 HP overhere in the Netherlands. And in S mode the automatic gear box is not really able to keep up. You need to put it in manual then and shift with the flaps on the steering wheel. But hardly ever do these two things, because this grandfather drives Saab for safety, comfort, reliability and style. Not really for speed.

    Hi Markus, new suscriber here '99 9-5 SE V6 owner and I'm curious as to when exactly did you record (film) this video? I'm asking because where you picked up the car looked like a new car dealership still selling Saab whereas here in the USA, 2011 was the last year you could buy a Saab as that's when the company went out of business. I'm curious about the dealership you picked up your gorgeous car from, and where (city) in Germany might it be and if at least used Saabs are still available there. Also, we didn't get the wagon (Sport Combi?) version here, only the sedan. Congratulations!

    SaabCars Thank you Markus for your response and the information contained therein. I thought it was Kombi and not COMBI but like with some people, I didn't listen to myself (or go with gut instinct). Since the sedan is still available here in America, it would be the gorgeous Sport Kombi to consider buying if at all possible. Thanks again for your response and channel. Regards, Mark Ferguson

I have changed the bulbs in the puddle lights on the door mirrors and they still don't operate. Is this a common problem, and what's the solution, what should I check next?

    No, not really! Before I always thought it was complicated, but it's not. • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    7 жыл бұрын

    You have to buy the export plates. That can be done online. Insured and taxed for 30 days. Around 280 Euro. The alternative to this is to do a temporary registration in Sweden before you go and pick the car up, but then you need to original german registration papers. Next thing is the Ursprungskontroll about 600 SEK. Next up is the Registration and MOT Which is something between 2000 and 2500 SEK. Then there is the travelling costs ofcourse that you need to consider. This wasn't that far away, we travelled 450km by car. Took around 5 hours. Then 5 hours back... :-)
