    This will be my next one. I've had many cars before and they were just cars. My first Saab changed my perception of what a car can be. It wasn't just another car, it gave me the feeling that it was something unique and special in it's own signature way. I was for the first time inside of a car that i wanted to be a part of from then on out. Even though Saabs quality began to diminish umder GM (as everything does under such a crappy parent company) it was still special and will always be my Saab.

    In a world of cars today enamered with center console tablets and dreary 4 pot diesels. Saab was so ahead of it's time. Tastefully done and not overdone. Real gagues and real controls that you can use even if you are on the road. Augmented by nice touches like the digial cluster. Try setting the temperature in a Volvo V90 on a less than newly paved road. It's horrible. Saab did it right, almost 10 years ago.

    That's probably one of the issues. Finding a fully loaded NG9-5. Some features can be upgraded during the way, but not everythin is very economic. Mounting the panoramic roof afterwards is probably the most expensive. Mine don't have it since it's a MY2010. When you're looking, what are they missing? Anything in common between the cars? You have a great NG9-3. Old exterior and new interior. Unique! Thanks for watching!

    Nice review. We had a 2010 turbo diesel automatic (UK) I had the comfort open which was great,full leather and the nav.only thing that was poor were the headlights at night. If anybody is in the market for one,check that both front heated seats work,there was an issue with the drivers seat,we're the seat would turn on,but then stop heating although the light stayed lit. Also some early nav systems threw a strop and defaulted to Belgium (was a simple patch repair at a saab dealer) Only reason we got rid,was saab going pop and difficulty of finding a place that has diagnostic equipment (tec3) should anything go wrong.

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks. You are correct. There some things, like the seat heating pads that are sensitive. I have replaced the passenger seat pad. The car dealer replaced the drivers side before I bought it. The Nav is the latest for EU, E800 which remove the Belgium issue. Since it's not that common, you need to find someone to help you when you need it. For the older SAABs I use the Tech2 diagnostic tool. This cannot be used on the NG9-5, another tool has to be invested in and I'm not sure that I will do that (you need to have subscription, daily, monthly or yearly). Here in Sweden the best workshop for NG9-5s is www.mannesbilservice.se/ . Lucky for me it's only about 100km away. Thanks for watching! BR SaabCars

    The passive entry does not read a recorded fingerprint and unlock,, it simply senses when someone touches the sensor on door handle, the system will auto unlock "any door or the trunk" if you attempt entry (grab the door handle and pull, or hit the trunk release button under the lip of the license plate) If you have the key fob present within close range , it will also lock with a touch sensor button the "drivers side door only" with a tap if the key fob present by tapping or bumping the sensor on that door handle (works with gloves as well. The car is also aware if there is a key fob that has been left inside the vehicle..

    Speaking of a radio and the maps... Do you have the latest upgraded firmware, that should prevent the issues with memory and settings loss for the radio? And as for the maps, referring to 2013 version, it never was oficially for a SAAB 95 as far as I know. So I believe you're actually talking about Opel Ampera maps, with a similar infotainment system? But that should only be pre-facelift Ampera, because newer one also uses some different system again (oh GM, whyyyy) and I believe there are no newer maps for the one you have in NG95 or the older Ampera yet still (with no real success to get newer elsewhere for now.).

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi, Yes the car has the E800 s/w which fixes those bugs that were there. Regarding the maps. This is the latest that is available, www.hblom.se/saab-9-5-2010-2011/2013-european-maps-hdd.html I know there are people looking into this, getting the structure right, adding newer maps. It's just a matter of time. The same as for the OG9-5 and the N9-3 Map DVD's that can be purchased online on different places ;-) GM should invest in a European MAP upgrade, they don't see the market I guess, There are more cars in US than in Europe I think.

  • @PeterChomanic

    @PeterChomanic

    6 жыл бұрын

    Just asking :) because many people (and even wokshops) seems not to know about "new" FW. I was recently upgrading one car with really ancient version. As for the maps, I see hblom simply found a workaround :D as they sell the part, not the maps :D because normally maps from HERE (NavteQ maps formerly ovned by Nokia, renamed to HERE and sold to Audi + others in consortium) are sold as a DL DVD for Ampera as I mentioned (they really do not sell for SAAB, dropped support completely) for ~250€ or more, with a license key etc. This way, replacing a HDD that "already contains" the maps (LOL, but good shady legal area I guess) makes it as a replacement part with maps hopefully being activated on the HDD.

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    6 жыл бұрын

    GM's acting lead to creative people ;-) I know, the ampera way is to enter the YS3G chassi ID of the SAAB, then you get the 250 euro dvd's with old material, not worth it. They should at least drop it to 100 Euros, then somebody can actually stay "original". I wonder if they even care that people are creative. If they did they would probably offer something new. As with the Hirsch Grill, once Hirsch saw the replica and the demand they started to offer their original again... The NAV unit in the NG9-5 feels quite modern I think so it would be nice if they would offer original MAP DVD's.

  • @PeterChomanic

    @PeterChomanic

    6 жыл бұрын

    I choose not to comment on the Hirsch behavior with noticing demand for a replica. As I would have to probably decrease my politeness standards. As much as I like some things from them (well, built almost a complete mix of Troll E and Troll R, etc) I most probably will not go for the grille for my TX just because of what they do. I may but it as a second-hand thing, but they'll sure not see my money as buying new original. I'll rather support someone from community that sells is needs money or so. NG95 navi does not seem to be modern enough for me (well, speaking of design at least, etc) even if the functionality is still very good, apart from the maps. I support the creative initiative :) for sure. In a way. Thanks for sharing it.

    I was wondering is there a version similar to this one in the 9-3’s? I currently own an 08 9-3 fully loaded, also not sure if that’s the “New gen” version of these cars.

    The 2008 has the latest interior under the Saab Regim. Some things changed in 2014 when NEVS released the 9-3 again. If you have a 2008 that is fully loaded you basically have everything already. BR SaabCars

    SaabCars, so I been looking more into this 9-5, for one I been having trouble finding one with the DVD screens in the back but they they have the DVD symbol in the front. Also there is Turbo6 and 4, not sure which is better/has more features? Is there anything I should look into problems wise when purchasing the new gen?

  • @TechCars

    @TechCars

    6 жыл бұрын

    It's possible that you have the DVD even if you have no screens in the back. The headunit can handle a DVD disc, which mean you can look at a movie when standing still or put music on the DVD. Both the Turbo6 and Turbo4 can be equipped the same, but if you're looking for a really smooth engine, pretty solid and with some power I would go for the Turbo6. If you put Hirsch software in it you will get 330ps which is enough for most people. BR SaabCars

    It's generally good. Depends if you pick timing chain or timing belt, XWD or no XWD bascially. The 4 and 6 cylinder petrol engines can have some issues with the timing chains. However, there are people with the original chains from the factory that are still happy and they don't have any issues. XWD basically means more oil and filter during the service.

That is understanding. It takes a long time to build up something. A good thing with Tesla is that they stick to their design, they just need to refine it. Prices need to drop here in Europe as well.
