New Brighton, MN | Attack & Alert + Ambience (Monthly Test) | 1/4/23 | Federal Signal 2001-SRN RB

Today was quite the adventure, woke up at 5AM to finish some homework but the first thing I did was look outside to see if the snow was bad, but since it was 5AM I couldn't see anything and I thought it wasn't snowing so I just assumed I would be going to school, but around 6:30 my friend told me we have a snow day so I quickly got outside, plowed the driveway for almost 2 hours, went inside and got prepared for this, I left around 11:45ish thinking that was plenty of time to wait for my friend then walk there since I assumed everything was plowed by then, and I was completely wrong, the sidewalks were plowed but switched from one side to the other often, so half the (what was supposed to be) 25 minute walk was walking in knee deep snow and even falling in snow nearly as tall as me, and I'm around 5' 10", so the walk really ended up being maybe 40ish minutes, so instead of getting there at 12:30 I got there at 12:50, giving me 10 minutes to assemble my cameras, find a spot to record, and get my shot ready before 1, it wasn't very loud due to the snow and I'm not sure how loud these are supposed to be, since this is my 2nd time recording this, and the 1st time was exactly 3 years from that moment, it was obviously in the same conditions so Ill have to film a roundback during summer months to get an idea for how loud these really are. My friend caught up to me while I was walking here and he watched the test with me, so this was an adventure that's definitely going in the books. Also if I'm not mistaken I believe this roundback is part of the only full system (meaning 2 or more sirens) that is all roundbacks, New Brighton has around 5 but you can't hear the others cause this ones farther apart from the others, but I just thought that was kinda interesting.

Dude I was literally driving by this siren a little while after the test and was wishing I had recorded it because of all the snow covering it. Also thanks for recording one of New Brighton's sirens, they've been on my list for a while.

Yeah no problem! If you go to about 11 months ago on my channel I also filmed the one near the McDonalds, leaving only 2 of 5 left.

And this, folks, is why screens are put on sirens.

I disagree, sirens are most used in the summer, and if you don't have a screen we get bird problems, which can be way worse than snow.

Ive never recorded this siren in non-winter conditions so I'm not entirely sure but id assume so since it was super quiet. Last time I recorded this was exactly 3 years from today in pretty much the same conditions/
