New Hope, MN Outdoor Warning Siren Ambience 9-1-2010.mp4
Ғылым және технология
This recording was taken of the monthly test of the Hennepin County, Minnesota Outdoor Warning Siren System. I was planning on recording a Thunderbolt 1003 in New Hope (New Hope's 1003 that I haven't yet recorded, but could not find it. The city provided me with its location (or what they thought was its location), but there wasn't a t-bolt there! I drove up to try and record their new 2001-130 (which replaced a Thunderbolt 1003 in mid-August), but I couldn't have made it there in time since it was one mile north of where I was and I only had two minutes to get there (35 MPH speed limit). I pulled over and parked in a parking lot, got out, and recorded the ambience of these cities' warning sirens: New Hope and Crystal. Not my most interesting recording, but at least you can hear a cool mix of sirens.
You can hear a 3T22 from Crystal, what seems to be a couple of P-10s or P-15s, a t-bolt or two, and a few 2001s.
Enjoy and please comment!

My stomping grounds!!! Gave me chills to hear all that again!!! I live in Crystal about a mile north of City Hall (where the 3T22 is located)... hearing that for 20+ years burns it all into your memory!! Thanks for posting!!!
Very nice sounding! When we did the video on the roof of the bank building in Amarillo, the wind was a big problem. This sounds so good without the wind. Wish they did the attack sound here.
this is one of the better ambiences on youtube!
I did not know New hope had an STL-10!
That's a very good ambience recording.
Very nice ambiance! What is that deep-pitched single tone siren with a really slow windup that winds up about the same time the 3T22 does? Whatever it is, doesn't sound like it's rotating (almost omni-directional), but at the same time it sort of has the timbre of a Thunderbolt 1000. I thought at first it was an STL-10, but it tops out too high to be one.
3T22 sounds creepy but the attack signal timing on it sounds horrible. Its too long of a steady tone and the wind down timing is too short.
i hear a 2001, 2 very low set thunderbolts, 3T22, p 15.
@murrfarms that deep toned siren sounds like an eclipse 8 or a T-121.

TBOLT1000, that’s a P-15
@murrfarms To me, it sounds like a 9/9 port single-tone H.O.R. Super-Sirex, but I doubt that it actually is one.
Too bad you could not find the 1003 maybe it got replaced already also i think that 3T22 got recorded by John (JPa311979) a while ago one other thing about the Out of Service SD-10 it will most likely sit on top of that pole and rot i don't think the city will do anything with it but maybe someone here can restore it but parts for the SD-10 are hard to come by these days since these are not made anymore
the only Thunderbolt left in New Hope is on the school on the corner of Boon Ave and 34th and i dont believe its working anymore because there is a Federal 2001 across the parking lot now im gonna talk to the city and see if i can buy it from them

That thunderbolt is on the school off of 36th and Boone, and yes, It still works. But I doubt they'd let you buy it, apart from it being on a school and still working :P

Mark vaars, I know that the 2001 is there, the last time I was there it seems like neither the 2001 or the 1003 works
