Hi! You have the best store inventory reviews! You do such a good job slowly giving a good shot of the flower or plant and reading the “specs” and showing the price for each item. It’s amazing how you go beyond the specs and include tidbits and tips (like companion plants, particular soil needs, etc. in your personal comments and experience with so many of the plants!! The first video I watched of yours was a Home Depot store inventory review not too long ago and I didn’t know who you were…youtube must have pushed your video up on my screen…and I watched and watched thinking how much accurate detail and how much information can this one video have? I was SO impressed. You are so thorough and helpful before I go out to the store I know exactly what to look for!I have seen other KZreadrs take tours of garden store inventory and they sometimes don’t know the name or price (not their fault they are learning too) but they skip over so many items and some don’t even show the plant very well (out of focus or shaky) and zoom on to the next item and it’s much shorter and haphazard. Your effort in making worthwhile and pleasant viewer experience is so evident in your work! Love it!

Hi Ellie! Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment. I'm so glad you found me, and that you took notice of the effort I take to create these videos. I started doing these videos in 2022 when no one else was doing them. It was an original idea at the time to provide plant buying education based on my gardening experience in my landscape. Since then, many others have started to do what I do, and even watching my videos to repeat verbatim what I say. Your comment made me smile as its evident my effort shows. Thank you so very much. 🌱
The price per plant has skyrocketed !

Just want to say thanks for your filming style: slow and steady camera movements and pausing stationary on plants for a little bit--it makes for a pleasant watching experience as opposed to some other channels that are constant shaky cam.

I'm asking all the gardening experts I follow on KZread this same question.....Are you familiar with "fertigation" or the idea of injecting liquid fertilizers into your irrigation system. I've seen some info on this, and it looks like it's more common in large scale operations. But I'm trying to figure out if there's an affordable way to do this for the average home gardener. Thanks!
Just returned from our Lowes in Kingston, NY, and sad to report there were NONE of these plants there🫤

Hi there, The inventory can vary so much from store to store. I hope your store gets some of these varieties in. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your Lowe’s tours. I also garden in Massachusetts, and have moist soil and have killed many perennials. How do you make the soil well draining on a budget?
@HookedandRooted
16 күн бұрын
Hi there! Adding compost to the planting hole is supposed to help. I've also read about including some gravel into the planting hole for improved drainage. I have a spot in my garden that stays pretty moist and I have found that the best way to cope with it, is to plant things that handle moisture a bit better. I have found sweet flag (I have the 'Ogon' variety) handles it well, also some types of iris, and hydrangeas. Hope this helps.
@paryal23
16 күн бұрын
@@HookedandRooted thank you for the advice. I will try the gravel/compost method for plants that need well draining, and look into plants that can tolerate moist soil. The type of soil a lot of Ma has is called glacial till, but there isn’t a lot of info on how to amend it. Thanks for your channel, I’ve learned so much, -a long time follower.
I have not had a single fern come back outside at zone 6b
@HookedandRooted

Hi Ivette, Boston ferns are treated as annuals. They don't typically come back. Other varieties such as the Japanese Painted ferns, autumn brilliance etc. are considered perennial. Many types are also very slow to break dormancy and emerge in Spring.
My Home Depot and Lowe’s have NO where near the plants, trees and shrubs as the ones you visit!! 4 tables of perennials at our Home Depot. I am in Massachusetts zone 6. Would you be willing to share which Home Depot and Lowe’s you visit? I would love to have that selection!!!!!!
@HookedandRooted

Hi Karen! The inventory varies so much by location. We are pretty fortunate to have about 3 Home Depots, and 3 Lowes within 20-25 from home. They are all pretty decent too. I'm in Southeastern MA and frequently visit Lowes in Raynham, Dartmouth, and Seekonk. As for HD, Somerset, Seekonk, Dartmouth.
These prices are ABSURD! $119 for a peony?! That is a complete rip-off. I find many of these plants at half the cost at my privately owned nurseries. Definitely pays to shop local. PS - not knocking on you Steph; you make excellent videos that I appreciate! But these big box stores are greedy to be charging such high prices.

Hi Beth! Not yet, its been well behaved in my garden. I've actually taken pieces of it and plugged it in other spots in hopes it will fill in a bit faster. I've had it for about 3 years or so now. Its also very easy to pull out if you don't want it in a spot. Hope this helps.
Omg how do you Americans afford to garden so expensive In UK or Spain nobody would pay that for plants in a large store Maybe if it’s a specialist GC I just can’t believe it

Places like Lowes and Home Depot, aka "big box Stores" come in to an area, fill the racks and benches with plants for cheap. When the local nurseries go under because they can't compete, they raise the prices because they are the only game in town. If you want to buy there, (and sometimes I do!) the best time is late Thursday or Friday, when the plants come off the trucks. by Wednesday they can be wilted and in two weeks they are nearly dead because they don't even water them. Just thought I'd ad to your horror!
You really should change the name of this channel. It's too much like the lady who's really famous for it.
