May Walkabout Part 1 - What's growing in Bel's Garden?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Pour a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy Part 1 of my May Walkabout. Today I'll be sharing with you all the things that are currently blooming in my gardens. From David Austin Roses to Peonies to Clematis and several Hydrangeas that are just leafing out. I'll provide pictures of what lots of the perennials will look like when they mature as well as sharing names of specific varieties. I'll share tips and tricks on how to plant and care for perennials and shrubs. I'll show you how I like to pop annual flowers into mixed flower borders to fill in the spaces with loads of colorrul blooms. Come back tomorrow for the May Walkabout Part 2 when I'll share with you what's growing in my raised bed veggie garden and two acre pollinator habitat! Spring has Sprung in my zone 6b Mid Missouri garden and summer is just a few weeks away.

I agree. It also helps me remember where stuff is planted or what I might want to change up.

Thank you! One of the reasons I started my channel is that I couldn’t find a Missouri gardener either 😊. We definitely have our special ecosystem that we deal with … extremes in summer and winter…but I’m one of the crazy people who LOVE change and all 4 seasons. Where are you from in Missouri?

@@GardentimewithBel2024 I do not think I could live somewhere where there were not four seasons! But we sure do have the humidity problems here. I grew up in St. Louis County but I live in Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau. I was 6b, but I am now 7a, but I still think of myself as 6b. I do garden videos as well. I have a playlist that goes back many years. I’m doing my videos different this year as I’m studying my plants and sharing what I learn. I love your Baptista flowers. I really want to get some of those.

Very disappointed to see about the Italian ice. I’ve killed so many roses 🥀 (similar burnt) and thought the Italian ice would do way better since it goes down to zone 3 I believe

I’ll give it a chance to flush out this summer and reassess. Not all plants work out. I’m not shy about relocating them and trying again….depending upon how they do over the next few months…they may find a new home somewhere else in the garden this fall.
