I drive a 2021 Giulia and everywhere I go people love it, so in that respect it's not underrated at all...but you're right that few people buy one. Maybe most people really do want the 76 shades of ambient lighting and the fanciest infotainment. One benefit I didn't expect when I got my Giulia is that I seem to have entered a club. Great review and I actually have to agree with most of what you've said. Other than the interior, as personally I actually like the decluttered approach alfa decided to take. It feels more like a timeless interior to me than that of the competition - sticking an ipad onto a dash. I have put 120,000 miles on my guilia (base model 200hp), and although I have to agree about the stock 2L engine and gearbox, I have had mine tuned by celtic (324hp). It now runs smoother than before through the gears also (I have done over 30,000 with the tune). Just replace the stock battery as anyone will tell you in the forums, this car is not a driveway princess. It needs to be driven regularly and preferably kept on a trickle charger if you can. Most of the issues are related to the batteries going wrong. As for the car itself I genuinely can't describe how happy it makes me everytime I see it parked up, or am behind the wheel. I'm not typically what you would consider a materialistic person at all, I'm just into my cars and that's my thing I guess. If what you want is smile per mile then this car quite frankly is in my opinion going to be one of the last affordable daily drivers cars ever made. If you're on the edge about getting one due to "reliability issues" then go drive one. Most modern cars will have technical faults soon after release, BMW ironically being far worse for recals yet has a stronger brand name. I am almost certain the Guilia will be a future classic as it has the performance and the environmental credentials that I believe will be needed to run a car in the future. As well as the safety and automated features. Put it this way, I won't be driving anything else as a daily as far as I can tell other than possibly upgrading to the QV model once they have depreciated further. Just book a test drive, honeslty lifes too short.

You’ve stolen the words from me, well said, sir. The fanboy thing with German cars is weird. I’d almost call it sheep-like in their purchasing decisions. Which is fine for the Alfisti as they know they’ve got something special on their drive, not something anonymous. As I’ve said many times before, the Alfa Giulia is a car for the cognoscenti and a nailed-on future classic. Some of the German cars are quite good but simply lack Alfa’s panache….can’t say I’m too keen on the German cars unreliability issues, either.

There are many reasons I got my 2020 Giulia. This video encapsulates everything I like about it. I’ve been in the entry level C300 and 3 series. They just don’t give me the emotion and performance I wanted. “How emotional can a 4 banger be?” Well not much, but everything else about the Giulia gives me that. It’s looks, handling, simple yet stylish interior, and uniqueness on the road really sold me😊Owned it for almost a year now, zero issues, zero shop visits just regular maintenance. People need to get over the Alfa reliability stigma. Have you been at a BMW dealer? They are packed with cars in the shop. All these entry level luxury cars are similar in reliability. Just try them all out. Maybe the Giulia will surprise you.

I purchased something else and instantly regretted it. I’ve since moved on to a an older M series B58 BMW, which is fantastic. I will have to modify it to match the drive of the Alfa, there is no question. As good as the BMW is, the drive is not quite the same. The Alfa is incredibly crisp and responsive, and so balanced and elegant. What a magical car to drive. I know the quadrofoglio is there if you want crazy power, but it would be amazing to have something like the B58 in there along with the BMW gearbox.

@Reality In my city alone, we have 1300 fixed speed cameras and probably another 300 mobile speed cameras (they could be anywhere). You lose your licence if you go 25kmh above the speed limit (limits are as low as 40kmh). Yes, you can go above that speed in any car, but in a QV you can easily do 30km/h over the limit in about 0.5 of a second. It is a waste having such an expensive car. I bought a 15 year old $6,000 car instead. Does the same job 99% of the time

I see a lot of nice comments. Looks like I'm the only one to get a dog! Problem driving from the out of town dealership to the house. Two weeks later it won't start.Had to drag it out the garage and put it on a tow truck. Dealership, service and Alfa USA experience were all awful!! I got it on a three year lease because it was different but got tired of the problems. Turned it in three months early and purchased a 2015 RC F. The dealership was shut down about 7 months later. Glad you guys are having good luck with yours.

I'm in the US and on my second Giulia 280 hp. The first a 2017 misano blue I drove to 99,000 miles. I now have a 2022 in red. The Giulia has several unique features (1) a carbon fiber drive shaft (2) 95% of the engine sits *behind the front suspension tower and (3) the steering is lightening accurate and quick at a 1:11.8 ratio. If I come around a sharp left turn on our interstate highway system and a disabled car sits on the left shoulder barely out of the left lane, it is a deft manuver to avoid due to the quick steering. Alfa all the way for me. I do own a 2001 Audi TT Quattro manual coupe for a nice change, but the Alfa is my daily and handles all 3-15 hour road trips.

Love my Giulia. It gets driven hard. Has been rock solid dependable. Strangely, as it is getting some age on it, you can see and appreciate the quality as it’s wearing very gently the leather is extremely high quality as well. The older it gets the more you see it is not cheap. I just can’t decide whether to sell my 2019 for a new one or just keep the old one. The motor, trans, and chassis are all perfect as the day I bought it.

Petrol heads love it; only "underrated" because there aren't 400 Alfa Dealers shoveling them at the $699 a month lease crowds. I'll admit Benz/BMW/Audi have the edge overall; those much larger companies can put a lot more tech features in at the same price point. However the Alfa buyer doesn't care about 10 parking cameras; they care about the DRIVE. I have a 2017 Giulia Ti with 70K miles and it looks and moves like it did five years ago.

I leased a 2019 Giulia TI Sport in gray with the cognac interior and 19 inch 5-hole wheels with yellow brake calipers. 2 years into the lease I decided to just buy the car right out. This is the best-driving entry level luxury sedan by far. I had owned an A4 and a 3 series before, those are great cars, but they feel sterile to me. The Alfa feels passionate and racy. I agree 100% with the points you make in the review. The suspension is perfectly balanced, the car corners really well yet it goes through bumps and cruises with ease. It does not have any of the flashy interior led lighting you find in newer Mercedes which to me, are cheap ways to convey luxury. The Giulia is a true drivers car, and when spec’d correctly, it’s a complement magnet. I plan on keeping my Giulia for a long time, changing the oil every 5k miles, letting it idle for a min in the morning, driving it easy until it reaches optimal temperature, then enjoying every corner. Great review!

I drove the heavy engined BMW 3-series and Audi a4-series. 4 years ago in testdrove a Giulia Veloce (the 4wd version). It made my BMW feel like it was driving on watermelons. The drive was really impeccable: crisp, clean, agile. As you said: in a class of its own. I eventually choose the Maserati Ghibli (haters: don’t bother). I know, completely different car, but it was ergonomically a better car for me (6 ft 8..). But this review again makes my want to buy a Giulia….

I dove it daily for 2 and a half years and I never had a single issue. I did 35000 km with it. Second Giulia was facelifted Veloce q4 2.0 ( i realised I really don't need 500 hp since i don't drive fast or do track days). I was also very good, but I had some issues with air intake sensor. After they changed it car run gr8. unfortunately this Giulia had even shorter life. 3 months after I got it we had big earthquake and whole building collapsed on it. Now I drive Stelvio 2.2 diesel

Thank you for the stellar review. My 2021 Stelvio Ti Sport has been nothing but a dream at 20K. It’s swooping lines/distinct grill turn heads here in Phoenix, unfortunately the two most common comments I get are “what the hells an Alfa Rom-e-o?” Or “I didn’t know they made an SUV!” It handles more like a hot hatch than an SUV (50/50 weight like my Miata). Red interior is stunning and always wows passengers. Complaints are lack of exhaust note (at least have a factory option… a quad is soooo loud) and poor backup camera quality. Reliability is perfect, as reflected in Stelvio/Gulia forums. Just test drive it. The passion is so apparent vs the serious and sterile Germans.

I've had my 2018 Veloce (with Performance pack) for 2 and a half years now. 12k miles when I bought it, almost onto 50k now. An absolute delight of a car and id 100% agree that its the car you buy if you're a 'driver'. I can forgive it for the sharp gearshifter, as the paddles do the work 👌 The only thing I wouldn't agree on is the comments on the adaptive dampers; I think they are brilliant. The adjustment of the suspension between the 3 drive modes really helps the car change to your driving mood. In dynamic mode, the firm damping is brilliant if you're in the mood - even better when you flick it to soft dampers in Dynamic mode.....it just eats up the road! Better still, I'll be switching to the winter tyres again soon, which always reminds me how much better the car is without runflat tyres on it. 👌 A great car and feels just as great jumping in it today as it did when I bought it.
