    Great vid. Could have mentioned the dry weight of the Duke 790 is 174kg. The +7kg is probably the bigger exhaust, the headlamp, side panels, the skid plate and slightly heavier wheels. I’ve been waiting for this release for a long time and I’m definitely buying one as soon as it’s officially announced.

    @@abymathew295 Had an issue with the clutch slave cylinder initially but that was a known issue that was covered by warranty. Other than that no issues.

    ​@@TheSpaceBorn I had a 2018 701 and there was a re-call for the fuel tank. It can just let go apparently and drop all it’s fuel out. Other than that I loved mine. Great bike 👍

    If you are brand new to riding I recommend getting the 401, despite many saying “it’s too small” it does well over the speed limit, it’s far more thrashable than a brand new 801 and if you grab an older model svart you can certainly use it off-road. Many 401s can be found on local trade sites and are often well taken care of and can be picked up cheap. I understand the want for a new bike, but as a new rider please purchase thoughtfully. You WILL drop it. Even if it’s only minor, better to drop the bike as a newbie when it’s only 2-4k (usd) instead of your new shiny 8-10k (likely more knowing Husky pricing). Of course. Do what your heart tells you. At the end of the day, it’s your cash, and your time. If you want one. Go for it. Just be sure you do so educated.

    Can't wait for this, although I already see a couple of troubling cons... 1) it's too heavy. Based on the provided weight w/o fuel, it will be about 191 kg/421+ lbs with a full tank. That's pretty portly for a 100+ HP middleweight competitor. The 790/890/990 Dukes, Street Triples, Monsters, MT-09, all weigh ~184-189 kg wet, while also making more power. 2) the 2024 Pilen styling is a step backward from the 2019-2023 bikes. They had a beautifully unique, Scandinavian design language that looked like nothing else on the market. Now the 401 and 801s look like warmed over KTMs. Just like every other middleweight released in the past 2 years. As a longtime Vitpilen owner, the number one and two character traits that these bikes differentiated themselves with were their unique "Neo Retro" styling, and their lightweight. They weren't the most powerful, but they were lighter than their competitors thanks to the thumpers. And arguably the most fun to ride thanks to the adjustable WP suspension and KTM geometry. Looks aside, direct comparisons will be made against the $8,500 CFMoto 800 NK and $9,500 KTM 790 Duke. Given Husqvarna's typical targeting, they will likely price the 801 around $10,500. Making it significantly more expensive than it's own factory mates, while also being heavier. Additionally, breaking the $10k barrier puts it up against many other competitors in that space. Pretty much all of which are lighter and/or more powerful. In my opinion, the styling could do with a slight rework, but most importantly, they NEED to get the weight down. 405 lbs at minimum, 396 lbs ideally. This would not only undercut every other 100+ HP middleweight competitor, but slip under the Aprilia RS 660 Extrema. The weight would fall right in line with previous Pilens (2018-2023 401 ~350 lbs wet, 2019-2020 701 ~370 lbs wet), preserving their light, flickable, fun to ride experience in a still manageable power package. Now we just need a balls to the wall Vitpilen R 1001... 🤣

    All Huskys besides the Norden are usually priced 10% lower than their ktm counter parts in every other market besides the US where the dealerships rob you😅 They are the value proposition in both the 400cc and 700-850cc European/asian market. Street triple/rs is a higher class of middleweight that competes with the monster 900 z900 mt09 and f900 cbr650r rs660 ktm 890. Each of these is either i4,more premium, more bespoke or produces 105bhp+ The duke 790 platform competes with the mt07 ninja650 gsx 778 hornet 750. These are all accessable middle weights. The accessable middleweights participate in the twins cup. The street triple co incidentally is the only engine supplier for moto 2 since it's class leading even in the premium middleweight segment. Yes the duke 790 produces 101 bhp which is within 10% of the higher class while being at a budget that's the whole strategy😂 All your opinions were wrong 🤌🏾

    Bob is this a Bait and switch? A year ago the vitpilen 901 was leaked will it now be a vitpilen 801?. Or is the 790 just for the sbartpilen and the 901 will be premium road biased 901 motor? Kind of moot point for me as I got sick of waiting and bought somthing else.

    I love the Husky designs, but the KTM reliability is a dealbreaker to me. Never heard of an owner, that didnt know each mechanic of their dealer by name.

    I always find it interesting that Brits use the verb “does” where we Americans would use “do”. In the video ,Mr Bob said “I absolutely love what Husqvarna DO with their styling” I would have used DOES in that sentence. And I am absolutely not trying to be a grammar nazi! He’s not wrong,I don’t think. “Do” should follow a plural subject matter, while “does” should be used after a singular subject. I think a company name like Husqvarna can be used in both the plural or the singular. (I could be wrong though) I have no interest whatsoever in pointing out a potential grammatical error. Just think it’s interesting!

    @@hollydillion1315 Well 1) it's literally called a Svartpilen 801 in the title. 2) basing it off of the Chinese built 790 platform will significantly lower the price, for minimal tangible loss in performance. 3) The 990 already exists, making an 890 Svartpilen a last gen engine holdover. Not only significantly more expensive, but for a few dollars more, you can have a Duke 990, but NOT a Svartpilen 990. Personally I would've been very disappointed if they'd chosen to use the 890 platform.

    ‘Trickle down from the KTMs’ yes but the price of Huskys is higher! 😏 Which would be okay if this was good value but really these should be based on the 119hp Duke R but they’re not, sadly. Tbh, a Norden version of the 890 SMT is the bike they should be putting out. That would be VERY interesting. ☺️

    Depends. In Australia, the 890R is more expensive than the 901 Expedition, but the electronics all come standard on the 901. KTM asks for more money for that- the Norden also comes with a proper bashplate and other accessories.

    Seeing this bike just makes me wish even more that they had stayed committed to releasing the 490/501 parallel twin bikes, because while I would love a twin cylinder Svartpilen, 105hp is just too much for the kind of street riding and commuting I would use it for.

    Seems like a bike that is not needed. The single-cylinder Husqies are a unique segment of a sometimes boring me-too motorcycle market. Why they want to throw that away is beyond me. If their market research says that people prefer the smoothness of a twin, then build a new bike with that engine - but don't try to turn a Svartpilen/Vitpilen into something it is not.

    I have never seen a svartpillen. My theory is that as they hit the dealer floor, a new rider buys them, and sets them up in their living room to never be ridden. Dealer always has vitpilen, never svart.
