How Tall Are You? To Size You Up Inside the Cars.

I was going to purchase a Stinger when it first came out but was turned off due to dealerships charging 5K plus markups. Dealerships are to blame for the Stinger’s demise.

The Stinger was the best thing Kia ever did. Sucks that it didn't sell what they needed it to.

Stinger will always have a special spot for me... they even had Stinger in Forza Horizon 4.

@@trilingualkid not being is honda fanboy here but civic have much more accomplishment such as nurburgring fastest production fwd (even if it's not entirely stock production version). Civics have been around since forever too, it's now a 6th generation.

I agree that the G70 interior feels more upscale. I’m not sure why the Stinger feels like a KIA when the materials in there feel and operate quite similarly to Hondas, Toyotas and Mazdas. I’ve looked at both vehicles and would choose the Stinger because of two things you pointed out, rear seat legroom and trunk/hatch space. The Stinger is superior in both areas. Not only does the Stinger have more legroom but the seatback angle isn’t as aggressive which makes for a more comfortable ride. The G70 is essentially a two seater for me and if I’m looking to purchase a two seater I’ll be looking at a true two seater like a BMW 2 series, Supra, Mustang or Camaro. I really enjoyed your very detailed review. Please keep them coming.

Kia is highly capable of making a superior interior(see the current K900), but the Genesis G70 exists and I'm sure the bosses wouldn't allow it to outshine the luxury variant, similar to how VW wouldn't allow the Arteon to outshine the A5/A7.

I prefer a coupe myself and for the same reasons as you prefer the Stinger. By early 2024 I doubt any new Stingers will be around - so very curious what you end up with.

ugliest car ever made is the stinger

I like both, but now since LA has a Genesis only dealership in Santa Monica, and you get a better dealer experience I'd probably go with the G70. I helped my friend buy a GV80 from the Santa Monica Genesis dealership, and the experience was up to par with other luxury car dealerships.

Grey colors get in the most accidents because they blend in with the street and dusk colors!

I drove a G70 3.3T then the Stinger 3.3T. I bought the Stinger, looks better and it bigger inside (73” vs 74”). Both cars are great.

Genesis G70 (which I love) seats only 2 adults comfortably and should have been sold as a two door coupe. The Stinger seats 4 adults comfortably, is a sportback and should have gotten the G70 tune. That was the deal breaker for me. I'm a happy owner of a '23 Stinger GT2. Chalk up the demise of the gas engine Stinger to badge snobbery.

I purchased my Stinger GT2 because it's all wheel drive , 367hp and ever greater torque. looks better and with the hatchback it's perfect. The G70 has very little leg room.

Good review. The Stinger is the perfect tradeoff for sporty and functional. I keep it in comfort mode because I usually drive in crowded areas. When you nail the throttle it defaults to Sport and the car really responds. From throttle response, handling, and sound it is a jog to drive. Sport mode on the twisties is so rewarding. Love this car. After I finish paying for this one I will look for a Scorpion version.

I was wanting the kia stinger but not comfortable owing a vehicle that’s being discontinued. I got the genesis g70 3.3 a few days ago I love it and the Brembo brakes

Lovely comparison, and even lovelier HOST. I like that she was very thorough with the side by side comparison on two very similar vehicles. I bought the Stinger 3.3L due to practically. I like the G70 more due to it being quieter and more luxurious but I wanted the flexibility of being able to fit lots of things in the trunk and be able to fit it with ease, hence the practicality of the fastback design. Now, if we could get the G70 Shooting Brake model in the US, I would be switching in a heart beat as long as the maintain the 3.3L on it since that practicality is really a great alternative to owning a do it all car that isn't an SUV or crossover.

The trunk capacity of the G70 SB is almost the same as that of a sedan. However, accessibility is slightly better.

This is a great review. I was debating between the G70 and the Stinger. Really liking the space in the Stinger and that it's a fastback. The truck test was funny.

8:20 The leather from the G70 probably comes from organic, grass fed cows. Stinger is much better looking outside and the G70 is much better inside. Wish they had a stinger outside with a G70 inside and a bit more power. G70R AWD 275-35-20 tires and 475 hp would be a killer machine. On the instrument cluster the digital one should have a switch to adjust the range from say 0-80 mph to 0-160 mph. Whatever you want your limit to be.

I've always liked the G70 better, it looks more mature and luxurious.

I like the Stinger's Samurai grill .

I enjoyed the reviews of both cars. My choice is the G70 because of luxury and softer additions and l really am not in a rush or race as l am satisfied with the power of G70.

Great review Mari. Sad to see the Stinger go away with no replacement. I did trade mine on an e-tron as the EV6 and EV6 GT wasn’t coming out soon. It would have been nice if they could have made n EV version of the Stinger. With no engine, they could offer more interior and trunk space, while shortening the from some and keeping the overall length. That, I feel would have provided enough space for a larger battery pack underneath to provide more range than the EV6 GT. Guess we will have to wait to see if another EV GT sedan will end up in KIA’s lineup. Have a quick question. Where is the KIA, Hyundai and Genesis showrooms (the large place) located? I’ll be transiting through Korea in a couple of months and would love to visit to get to some content for my channel. Thanks.

I had the pleasure of having both. 2019 kia stinger gt for my senior year of highscool. And that car was an eye catcher. Everyone loved it. Then in 2021 I got the g70. I just sold my g70. Let's see what the future holds

Having own two stingers and now driving a genesis G7 sport prestige with the 2.5 turbo in it you were dead on the money and your analysis of the differences in the car. The G70 is quieter smoother and more of a luxury oriented vehicle. Now that said I really like the 2.5 turbo engine it gives you a level of performance and better mileage and cheaper to operate engine that still gives you plenty of go. I do 70s sportier and you were on the money when you said that the comfort mode and the sport mode in the genesis that’s exactly what it is. Well done

Why is stinger discontinued? Its such an amazing underrated sport vehicle.

By how good looking the G70 is I thought the Stinger would look foolish next to it but NO. They're both just gorgeous looking cars. It's is a crime that the Stinger didn't do well. I hope they bring it back in the near future.

Stinger Gt2 all day. I have had two Gt2

I prefer the look of the Genesis sedan styling. There is a MB look to the rear end of the Genesis as you mention. Other than the grill (the elongated pointy bottom) I think the front end of the Genesis is more attractive. Basically they are both nice cars and it would be personal choice as to which one a person would buy.

I have seen a lot of cars that sound like an "animal" on the road, but the G70 is a beast like the Q50/Q60.

probably the best review I've seen so far on the G70 you did an awesome job. I can't wait for the 2024 G70 with the 3.3 liter engine; hope you will do a review on that.

Hello Mari great comparison enjoyed your review the G70 reminds me of my GV 60 love the fit and finish of Genesis I have had my GV 60 almost a year. The Stinger would be fun for a while to drive but at the end of the day I would take the the G 70. Curious to know if there is going to be any changes to the GV60 . Thank you Mari .

I bought a KIA Stinger 2022 GT (GT2 in US) with the full package, in Hungary. Stinger is definitely something unique to be honest. It's shame that KIA did not continue further with additional upgrades. I was eventually thinking on continuing with G70, G80, but It's just not the same... Honestly KIA shifts too much for EVs now. Maybe the future Stinger EV. A car that looks great, has power, reliable, very-very good quality, technical wise awesome. Even an interior many premium cars can't compete with. Also don't forget: In the EU Stinger also has a SPORT+. But It also has a SMART mode additionally.

Also the Stinger doesn't sound like a different animal, that is FAKE PUMPED in sound through your speakers. But yes you do hear more engine noise in the Stinger, if listening to a 4 banger is your thing. You can turn off the fake pumped in sound and listen to that 4 banger

Very nice comparison. I like the fast back look and space of the Kia and it’s overall look. Sadly I doubt there will be any available in early 2024 when I’ll be looking for a new car. My 2nd choice was a Lexus RC300 but I think those are going away as well. Lexus still making the Rc350F, but that’s way too much money. So now considering the G70 and a Lexus IS300.

@@sethm10 As a Stinger GT2 owner, I highly recommend haha. Owned for 3 years and still look back at it when I walk away after parking. The only other choice I’d put in there is the M340i but that’s for top performance and if you’re willing to spend the extra thousands

Wouldn't hurt as much to see the stinger go away if Genesis brought over the shooting break version of the G70 here for folks in North America

Kia Cars overall are well-built, nicely styled (by former Audi car designer) and safe, not to mention highly rated! My Stinger is my 7th KIA car. You can't beat the warranty: 5 years/60k miles bumper to bumper! Honda/Toy/Nissan are only 3 yrs/36k mi bump to bump!

Interestingly, you were comparing the difference between the two car bodies and you just so happened to place both cars in the same position using different shots and I stop the video right at that moment @1:26 and the car body is look close. Yes, there are difference, but close. use playback speed setting of.25

Was really going to get a g70 until I went and sat in one. No room in the back seat with my seating position smh I might as well be In a coupe.

If the stinger came with 450-500 hp I would have picked one up. I own a german sedan with a TT V8 and it makes 450 and its the minimum I want in terms of power.

They need a fastback G70. I had the G70 as a loaner car for 2 weeks and it is super fast but WAY too small! It is really a 2 seater. It is also too low to the ground. I can't see spending $60K CDN for a tiny almost unusable car! It was a good call to go with the GV70 instead.

I do have the 23 G70 i wish i wouldve gotten the Kia Stinger for space and utility. But i will purchase the GV70 instead.

2020 stingergt2 panthera metal. I hate the front end of the Hyundai.

I don't like the g70's headlight design/shape ruins the look to me personally. Strangely I feel it works on the g80/90 though.

They need to mske a hybrid Genesis

I have the 2023 GV70 2.5T advanced trim.. In my opinion the crossover design and proportions of this is the perfect blend of practicality and executive presence .. more rear legroom than the G70 , ambient lighting, the 2.5 turbo engine has more than enough power for every day driving and a great ride quality .. looking like a baby ‘Bentley / Porsche cross I’m loving this vehicle
