Found him at Walmart the other day. Bought him without hesitating. The body is a bummer but he looks really good & I agree Nate, if this is the one we get, so be it. Life goes on

I’m glad I make custom figures. With the advent of at home 3D printing, there are some amazing 3D artists out there producing kits for characters like Pre Vizsla! My Pre Vizsla on the Death Watch Mando Trooper body, is what Hasbro’s Vizsla was supposed to be. I understand not everybody has the desire, patience, or skills to customize, but if you do, it’s the route to go for some of these characters if you want them 100% accurate.

Great review! Big bummer they reused the old Jango body, but yeah at least we got him at all. And the new parts and paint do look really good. Honestly wish they made a new clone wars Mando body for Vizsla, they could've gotten as much mileage as the TVC mold got with Vizsla, supercommandos, the supercommando captain, normal death watch - hell, they could probably get a CW Gar Saxon and Almec out of it too.

Just got one Viszla for TVC and they knocked it out of the park. No idea what’s up with the Black Series team reusing Jango’s mold. Glad I dropped Black Series and stuck to TVC.

Tbh I think it helps that he’s been on the old body cause he fits in with his mandolorian loyalists granted in a bit biased cause I grew up with clone wars and how he looked similar to his troops

This is what I don’t get: SW Black Series fans complain all they want, but they still buy the figure. This is the reason why this line is no longer my bread and butter. I got tired of this type of “tragedies” Hasbro likes to pull from time to time. They know Pre Vizla is a highly desired figure and fans will still buy it regardless. It’s almost insulting. And I’m almost certain they will upgrade, update and rerelease this character in the new body.

This is the first “negative” review we’ve had in a good long while. We’re really happy with the line as a whole. They’re not all going to be huge wins. There’s gonna be some duds. It’s simply part of collecting.

He looks decent posed up. I may have to get a custom at some point though bc that body is goofy

As he'll likely just be standing in a neutral pose on my shelf, the disappointing articulation isn't a deal breaker for me. He does look great. If he's actually so bad at balancing, I might get a small stand with a foot peg

I was disappointed he got made the on this body mold as well. The Mandalorian Loyalists and Super Commandos on the same body have caused countless dominos in my Clone Wars display.

Hello Nate thanks for another great review of a less than perfect figure. Hasbro really needs to start retiring old molds especially when their new molds are so much better. The new Astromech droid mold is being used and they seemed to have stopped using the original smaller ones, R5 and R4 perfect examples. Hasbro please stop using old trooper molds Thanks Nate for sharing your thoughts on this "new" figure. I've pre-ordered mine at BBTS I think. He will look good on the shelf and I might use one of my flight stands 🤔. Take care Nate, Tom.

I use alittle 'back bend' waaaay more than I do 'abb crunch' w/ almost all my figs, esp Wars. > Nevertheless that mold is A bummer! Which perhaps helped decorate Pre w/ his proper accessories & the new helmet cast. I mean W/ Hasbro being so cheap an all... They're probably like; _"Yeah this old AF mold will help give Pre his OG charm! Plus than we can use the updated Mando molds on other BS Mando's & pump out A variety simultaneously along w/ Pre. And it also gives us reason to later down the line- do him again! More $$$!_

Ehhhh, this figure? It is what is. Hasbro reusing the Jango body is beyond questionable, but I am super happy to finally have a Pre Vizla! I’ll take this then not having a Pre Vizla at all, and he does look great on the shelf!

It’s an unfortunate contrast between Ahsoka/Malgus and this release. While they’re near impeccable, especially Malgus since he may never get the SHF treatment… Pre deserved better. Could have benefitted from a better sculpt. It’s disappointing because he may not get the fighting pose that Maul can achieve. At least the head is removable. ;-) I don’t fault the designers since I’m sure they could have done a new sculpt, but the higher-ups have decided otherwise and this should be something worth calling out.

I wouldnt even mind the rest of the outdated articulation if it wasnt for the hoses and the hinged wrists. Even if every collector avoided this figure it wouldn't change Hasbro's decisions.

We all knew what we were getting into when we got this figure, so with that in mind, I really like this figure. Visually, he looks fantastic. Obviously the articulation is terrible and he can’t stand, but right now I have mine on Snoke’s throne, and eventually will put him on a flight stand. That’s good enough for me, especially for a character we’ve all wanted for a while, and one we’ll likely never get again (unless they do his original appearance with the cape).

Exactly. 100% we knew it was on the old buck. You either pick it up, or pass. It really is that simple at the end of the day. On a purely visual level, he looks great. And the visual look of a figure is more important to me than articulation. -Justin

This is a huge missed opportunity for hasbro. I thought its common knowledge that lots of people are looking forward to a pre visla black series. this really should've been in a brand new body.

Unfortunately, just another filler figure for the shelf that I’ll bury towards the back with the other base obsolete mandalorian figures. Hasbro pulled another one over our eyes. Someday I’ll set myself free from being a completionist and will learn to pass on a figure like this. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Appreciate the review as always!

I’m so pissed at this new figure. The old Loyalist and Commando never should have made it off the factory in their stupid condition. And now this brand new one is on a 6+ year old base. They really polished a turd for this one. Great accessories but absolutely disgusting base figure.

This figure is a perfect summary of why I’m buying almost nothing black series anymore. I’ve been around since wave 1, patiently waiting for Clone Wars stuff and 10yrs later this is what we get. Absolute garbage. The 3.75” versions is also mostly a repaint but at least it’s well done. This is as bad as it could possibly be

But for me when you compare the obscene multiple price hikes Vs what improvements there have been, it doesn’t add up. If Hasbro wants to slowly creep up to SHF level pricing they need to produce that level of quality. I’m just finding much more value in other figure lines

Your opinions are totally fair. To me, $24.99 for mainline isn't bad. Especially when you consider the line was $19.99 for 7+ years. The amount of new tooling we get has also increased (mainly in mainline) 2020 onward. That and Hasbro is finally starting to do more prequel era figures. I think 2024 is gonna be a great year. I hope they do some more background OT stuff though. Hammerhead is hopefully a good sign. -Justin @@blaisebear6850

No windows , price hikes ,horrible character selection and worse distribution. As a result of the loss , to cover profit margins, you can expect less quality and another price increase (or 2) in '24 . If the remaining collectors accept this , you can be certain of a rinse and repeat . Remember these words in 2 or 3 more years when this line is effectively dead . (On life support now) . To survive it needs to win back the collectors that quit over the last few years . And buying and excusing sub par performance only accelerates it's demise , not prevents it . I know you disagree now , and that's ok , you've got a hugely comprised version of what you really wanted . Remember this exchange in 3 years , see if you still disagree . All the best .

The line is absolutely not dying. Look at all the Prequel Era love we’ve been getting for the last 4 years. 2020 had the final red box AotC and Wal-Mart TCW waves, 2021 had TPM Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary and Target TCW waves, 2022 had the Tartakovsky CW wave, 2023 has TCW 20th Anniversary mini-beat, and 2024 will have the PT 25th Anniversary mini-beat. That’s 33 figures so far, and that doesn’t even count mainline releases like Cad Bane, Asajj Ventress, Aurra Sing, Jar Jar Binks, Aayla Secura, and TCW Maul, plus all 4 members of Delta Squad. That’s insane. From 2013-2019, this was absolutely unthinkable. How about Legends? From 2013-2019, we had just 2 figures of EU characters: Darth Revan in 2016 and Jaina Solo in 2017. Since then, we have added an additional 13 figures: 2 in 2020 (Darth Nihilus and Jedi Revan), 5 in 2021 (Carnor Jax, Sith Apprentice Darth Maul, Jaxxon, HttE Luke Skywalker, and Zaalbar), and this year alone made up for 0 in 2022 with 6 in 2023 (Infinities Redeemed Vader, Mara Jade, Bastila Shan, Darth Malak, Darth Malgus, and Starkiller), with the latter 3 of those being brand new sculpts. 2024 also looks to continue that trend with a Thrawn trilogy 4-pack announced, including Joruus C’baoth and Luuke, 2 characters I never in a million years thought we would get. So much more is possible now than was before. This is also not mentioning the constant OT love with the 40th Anniversary waves for each film. Yes, TBS goes hard on New Media, but they have not abandoned every other era. The line is in such a good place right now, and it’s only getting better. Hasbro has been slowly chipping away at all the egregious omissions, and I’m all for it. The Galaxy Box Era has been fantastic, and it only looks to get better from here.

I will genuinely try to come back to this comment in two years, haha! Black Series fans have been absolutely eating rather well lately. If you're a fan of EU/Legends/deep-cut gaming we have Mara Jade, Bastila Shan, new sculpts for Darth Malak, Darth Malgus, and Starkiller. New reveal of The Last Command Thrawn trilogy 4-pack, etc. For fans of the prequel era we've had tons of Clone Wars figures recently. Including a new 2023 upgraded sculpt for clone troopers, newly sculpted Ahsoka from Clone Wars, MagnaGuard, we have a Super Battle Droid (one of the most desirable figures of the line) coming, Droideka, The Phantom Menace Anakin and Padme, Ep. 3 Palpatine, prequel army-builder packs, etc. If the line was truly "dying" or "on life support" I highly doubt they'd be doing a completely new sculpt for something like R2. A completely new astromech buck. Completely new and definitive Jedi Knight Luke. We got Hammerhead coming to the line. Just got Figrin D'an last year, new cantina aliens. This may come as a surprise to you, but if you tally up the new sculpts, there's more now per year compared to four or so years ago. PFP is already dead, the plastic window is coming back. It lasted for what? Two waves? The character variety and distribution has significantly improved. Especially when it comes to online purchasing. -Justin

They fumbled Pre Vizsla big time, even if they wanted him match the Loyalists for visual consistency. That being said, the paint job and new parts are good enough to warrant a pickup for me personally, though not enough to make up for the terrible Jango body. He still looks great posed on a flight stand like in the video.
