    Hey all, entomologist here! Fun fact, ants actually secure the sand in their hills with spittle, it makes it harder and more resistant to erosion. So after decades of erosion, it's possible that all that's left would be the walls of the main hollow tube. So it's not unlikely that large spires like that would be associated with ant hills 👍

    @@Tonnolin no, gwyn personally kicked NK out and ordered him erased. when he linked the fire, the gods immediately turned their backs on gwyn and abandoned anor londo, scattering themselves across the world, there would have been nobody there to kick NK out. and time is convoluted, because light is time. gwyn could have met gwyndolin by manipulating time, and it is known that it's by gwyn's decree that gwyndolin be raised female due to the nature of his magic. so, while this izalith scene is unlikely to have occurred, partially because gwyndolin probably wasn't born yet, gwyn did probably meet all of his children at least once.

The Maggot would be a parasite of Choas, with the tentacles as way of control. Also, this would explain why Gwyndolin has "fallen ill" when Aldritch devours him. *head canon-thats a golden sunlight maggot on his face*

    @Paulito8000 @@RougeMephilesClone Wuxia is chinese martial arts fantasy, while sometimes in wuxia there are concepts like alchemy and such it's more of a realistic setting than xianxia, which is more high fantasy. In a wuxia novel you may expect at the climax for the main character to be utilising some amazing sword technique or something that makes them nigh unbeatable in the martial arts world, whereas at the climax of a xianxia novel you may expect a main character to be able to destroy planets/stars, create entire universes, be immortal and more, basically wuxia is more realistic fantasy (take that "realistic" quote with a hefty pinch of salt) while Xianxia is much higher fantasy, with characters often able to perform real magic at very early stages of their cultivation. There are some great examples of xianxia and some bad (as you'd expect from any genre) a personal favourite author of mine is Er-Gen, author of highly acclaimed novels like "I shall seal the heavens" "A will Eternal" and "Renegade Immortal" he's done more than just those 3 though.

    Perhaps also if Gwyndolin is the one telling the story, he wrote down the line as he knew firsthand of his brother's fate and he is sympathizing with him, and at how rash Gwyn's punishment was. He then scratched it out knowing he'd be severely reprimanded for hinting towards his older brother, and for putting a smudge on his Father's immaculate and unquestionable image of Light.

    Nick Hawk Not true at all actually. As a person who is active in the modding community, we don’t actually have the tools yet to completely customize maps yet. Navmeshes not being able to be edited is a big issue, along with the fact that we can’t actually edit hard-set collision. HOWEVER, when these things become a reality, worlds such as the ones in this video would entirely be possible, although it would probably take multiple years to make.

    I gotta be honest I think the Catarina one is my personal first play, like I just want more, that's all I can say, like I want a whole mini series of this little jolly place, it looks so lovely yet so dangerous at the same time, with everyone being armored up at all times, and assassins' running about, its somewhere you'd need to be strong to live, yet somewhere you could find genuine friends and alleys, especially the visual of having a drunken brawl one night, then waking up the next morning in a cell with the same guy you were fighting and sharing a laugh with him, maybe helping him buffer out a dent in his helmet or something and sharing some soup to sober up just sounds like so much fun to me, its somewhere I'd want to live, which is not something I ever thought I'd say about a place in dark souls.

    Yeah. I loved that image. Most of the places you visit in Dark Souls are relentlessly dark. Amazing, awe inspiring, but not places of joy and life. They are the places of a dying world where the last sparks of life are slowly fading and all hope with it. Now theres just husks of beings wandering through once vibrant places. Catalina looked like a still vibrant place. Dangerous, yes, and not a place for the weak. But a place where everyone in it is joyfully alive and determined to enjoy every second they can in the harsh world they live in. I found it refreshing.

    Im just gonna say: I absolutely ADORE the Catarina art. I know it isn't the best, but that single image not only oozes personality, but it also does a good job showing off the great aspects of Catarina (the general jovial tone, the lax security for the open jails, and the sheer heroic aspects of being an onion knight) while also teasing at possible shortcomings of such a kingdom, predominantly the onion knights so eager for excitememt, glory, and joy that they are often jailed (if lightly so) because they get too rowdy. That being said, there's so much good art that I don't envy what you had to go through to judge each one.

It show us that this world, not only exist in a constant "dark feel", and this do a lot to enhance the feeling that even if is for a hour, a minute or a second, fight against the end of the world and delay it, is worth.

    "Bloodborne or Demon Souls lands?" Bloodborne PREPARE TO CRIES

  • @moriskurth628

    @moriskurth628

    4 жыл бұрын

    Bloodborne is arguably limited in its variety. It takes alot of its designs and themes from Gothic Horror and Lovecraft's Mythos, while having a rather distinctl 18th-19th century European visual design. I mean, true, for other lands you could draw from places such as Russia (Streltsy, Druzhina, Ivan the Terrible), with some cues from the Balkans (Vlad Tepes the Impaler, Mihai the Brave), portraying it as this rustic, almost barbaric backwater compared to Bloodborne's more metropolitan Yharnam. More superstitious, with odd customs, but also, due to this superstition, have unwittingly created measures to ward off the horrors that can't be stopped with musket fire and blades. There'd be less advanced tech (Like the Powderkeg Hunters) and more magic around, and more vast forests and wilds. Or perhaps even from the Holy Roman Empire (especially around the 30 Years War, which is woefully underrepresented), being a disunited mess of states that wage war among themselves as they do against others and thus wear actual armor and carry battlefield weapons instead of being refined and cultured. There, maybe a plague of bestial mutations like in Yharnam hit them, but due to being so war-like, they managed to hold themselves together. There would be more tragedy involved as you are sometimes forced to kill not crazed afflicted, but healthy, sane and scared people just trying to survive, in order to progress. Also, actual armor and infected/mutated soldiers still holding discipline in a deranged attempt to hold their minds together, former enemies now forming marching columns with one another, drilling and fighting against other crazed regiments on disease-wrecked battlefields and army camps. Or you go south and take from Northern Africa and the Ottoman Empire. With Janissaries, Desert Nomads, and bustling Bazaars. Not sure how you draw horror from that though. Since the Ottoman Army was pretty damn advanced in that era, and Islam was rather famous for gathering knowledge, as well as Ottoman Sultans having a reputation for being ambitious Conquerors, the horror isn't due to flesh warping or Elder Being-induced madness, but instead the use of machines and Byrgenwerth-esque Research to become closer to the Gods. The fusing of (to us) primitive machinery and flesh. Less eyes and cancerous growths, and more pistons, cogs, and valves where they *should never have been*. Essentially Adeptus Mechanicus from Warhammer 40k, just more uncanny valley, less advanced, and more Arabic. Plus, way larger focus on Gunpowder weapons. The Janissaries loved their guns and bombs, and the Afghans scared the hell out of the British with their Jezails. Well, that's all that I can imagine for Bloodborne. By comparison, Dark Souls isn't bound by a time period, and can pull from anywhere between the Bronze Age and Antiquity to late Medieval times, which gives the creators a ton of room and material to play around with. Well, thoughts?

    The image of the golden-haired boy reaching for the sunlight magot made me think of solaire before gwndolin. Mainly due to his fate. It would be an interesting story. He the lost son of Gwyn, in the past went to Izalith with his father to see the fallen and those covered in ash never to see the sun. Then further down in his years slowly becoming hollow, losing sense of what is and what was, decided to reach out for the "sun" that was parasite, a fact then forgotten. For just as the others fallen in Izalith that reached for the sun even if it meant burning in the ash of Izalith, it meant they found peace even if it was an illusion.
