@@huskybrutor9287 I got to see Neurosis in 1992 too, at the volunteer run Punk club in Berkeley simply named Gilman, after their address, 924 Gilman St.! It was basically their release show for “Souls At Zero” which had just come out on the SF based Label, Alternative Tentacles owned by DK’s singer, Jello Biafra, who was also at that Neurosis show, but two years later, he got jumped at Gilman, i didn’t witness the incident in person but I saw Jello there a few weeks later, hobbling around on crutches! My apologies if you’re from the Bay Area, and the above information is redundant! Anyhow, seeing Neurosis in such an intimate environment was really special, because they were about to blow up internationally and start playing at bigger venues! Their projectionist, Pete, was already working for them, so he enhanced the intimate experience by projecting shocking/stunning images on the screen behind them on stage! I had just moved to the East Bay the previous year, 1991, to jam with the OG BA Thrash Legends, Possessed, who are from the EB suburb of Pinole, where we practiced! Anyhow, during that first year of living out there, I dug much deeper beneath the surface of the BA underground scene, and that’s when I discovered Neurosis, but that’s when they were still more straight ahead Hardcore/Punk, so when they got way more experimental on their “Souls At Zero”, I was completely blown away, and the Souls…songs were even more intense live! Since I had befriended Neurosis’ bassist, Dave Edwardson, from him being a regular customer at the Record store i worked at, Amoeba Music, in Berkeley, he invited me to party with them outside of that Gilman gig, in their touring vessel, a converted Box Truck! They are/were always really friendly towards me and super laid back/chill dudes, from that first encounter outside of the Gilman gig and beyond, especially for such an intense Band! It was an evening/gig I will never forget! I saw them a few more times since then, in a huge warehouse turned Venue, The Haze Theater in SF, with Crash Worship and Sleep in 1993, then at their NYE party 1993-94, at their practice spot in Oakland, which was in the building that was right nextdoor to the building where my old band, Thanatopsis, used to practice in, that gig/party was also with Sleep! However, i haven’t seen them since they played at Milwaukee MetalFest in the early 2000’s! Yet another old band i was in, Somnus, used to play at that Metal Fest every summer, it always had killer band line ups, was always well attended by people from all over the country/globe, and was always a blast! Sorry, for being so long winded/verbose, and hijacking this thread! It’s just I haven’t talked to any fellow Neurosis fans since I left the East Bay almost a decade ago, so i became caught up in the moment and got a little carried away, lol!

Sorry to go all "Guitar Nerd". But I cannot see what the amp is under Scott Kelly's top head... could someone please tell me? These live videos are a pinpoint in to the aural presence that this band engulfs & the space that they claim as theirs everytime. I was reborn the first time I saw them in San Diego at the second Soma location on the "Through Silver And Blood Tour"... My friend Rick and I were blown away... And Excel opened they were brilliant too.

I realize Neurosis is legendary and I really like some of their albums a lot. With that being said they're kinda.. sloppy (I.e. the drummer). and I hate to say it, but I feel like the keyboardist is irrelevant/pointless. I mean he's not even playing half the time.. just looking like a dude bro shaking his keyboard stand around and head banging like that's entertainment.

an old comment i know, but its kinda hard to imagine liking neurosis's albums and not recognizing how much noah contributes to the band. those soundscapes and industrial influences are what separate them from their contemporaries imo

I've seen them five times. A couple they were a touch sloppy, I'll give you that and even a touch uninspired...but the others were the most mind blowing shows I've ever seen, leagues beyond other bands. But the keys/soundscapes - huge.... They really make the show, bring the whole experience together.
