Thanks for this great lesson. I took about the challenge to answer the question raised at 14:14. The pyramidal tracts are named after their origin cell (the pyramidal cell), which named after the triangular shape of its cell body.

Maybe they're called peramits because they pass signals to the brain from the peripheral nervous system like the way parameters are the way of getting data into a function in math or computer science.

Thanks guys! I understand that “pyramidal tracts” comes from the pyramidal cells. What I never understood is why we refer to the structures on the ventromedial portion of the medulla as “pyramids”. Those are pyramidal tracts... but why call them pyramids? The mystery still remains :)

This is one explanation of why it's termed pyramid. "The corticospinal fibers converge to a point when descending from the internal capsule to the brain stem from multiple directions, giving the impression of an inverted pyramid." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramidal_tracts

The title is horrible. There should be a universal boycott of that insulting crap. Ever been a real teacher in high school!? This crap increases bullying and abuse for nothing. And the academia seems to greatly enjoy high levels of abuse and bullying. Great examples. Way to go people, way to go
