This is great news for people with certain disabilities. I would expect these tests to continue and go relatively well. Neuralink is not experimenting with potentially dangerous drugs like different chemotherapies which are well known to have wide ranging side effects on body chemistry. These implants can be easily and quickly removed if safety becomes an issue. This is very unlike drugs which may require extensive detoxing. And for people with loss of sight due to congenital vision problems, or permanent loss due to accidents, an implant may be highly desired to help restore at least some vision. It may be said, if the eyes have become irreparably damaged, the visual cortex may never have a chance to be used. And since there are no major/critical organs/structures in the visual cortex (except other surrounding brain tissue), the concern for the safety of life should not be a considerable issue.

This is a joke of course, I'm very excited for when we can get Neurallinks too. I know I'll be first in line, and I'll message Arbaugh about it and thank him for his contributions

🤔How can you not love these companies?🤗 - the fact that Nolans surgery has provided them with valuable information going forward is huge! I have a relative who would benefit from the eye surgery, but is elderly 90s and likely, (unfortunately) not a candidate. I would work for any of the Musk companies. It makes me super happy to know that he and his teams are helping those who need it most. 🤗❤️👍

How? easy - they're run by elon musk, who constantly lies about progress, growth and is constantly breaking the law. You really shouldn't work at any of his companies, he's constantly breaking labor laws and space x is well known to overwork and grind through engineers. It's often said elon isn't a micro manager - hes a microscopic manager. Go watch some of common sense skeptic or thunderfoot.

This company always use "patient" or "earth" or anything politically correct as a tactic to avoid criticism, like the electric tesla for "earth"(aka reduce pollution) now since investors are backing out from Tesla on that since another company does it way better and less hazardous , now they're going out on a new politically correct venture. I bet next it's about saving the sea, dumpsites, Mariana trench, animals, or space pollution to justify having satellites over other countries, nuclear power in space, etc. I mean, they immediately slowed down by a lot if not stop "saving" in the first signs of it not being profitable if not others are saving earth better, instead of joining hands to save earth together, they'd rather try in on another venture. I mean with that much tells you what they're really after. Not to mention all the "supportive" comments sound so chatGPT robotic.

You would think movement would have been taken into consideration more than it was. I know mistakes happen, but c'mon. With this much intelligence focused on one project, this seems like an unacceptable mistake.

The brain mass itself also deforms. Why are teathering off of the skull wall. fail. imagine you can move the brain up down left and right but the brain itself is a fatty ball of goo teathered by bloodvessels and the nerve base of the brainstem. the brain mass will deform under even single g. the sheer act of moving the head left to right and up and down from a seated position results in a long aggrogate point to point positional teather. this is solved by mounting the sensor on the brain I know larger risk of encephaly but you remove any risk of dislodegment due to movements. ie car stops suddenly or any multiple g gravity physics activity inherent to just hospital care ect. you need to make it wireless and small inside the skull removing the back of the skull plate would be required. i think the need to want this to be the jump to leaving the body and nueralink is hindering the tech and safety perhaps or just the risks of infection are so huge.

Into the brain? Or from the brain? You want to ADD memories to the brain? That's hard. Reading memories from the brain, that's easier.

For the sake of the patients, I really hope Neuralink won't have the same mindset as Tesla which tries to re-invent the wheel for all costs and can't even bring functioning windshield wipers for years.
