Nerves of the foot

Ғылым және технология

The anatomy of the nerves of the foot. Cutaneous sensory and motor innervation for the foot comes from branches of the tibial, deep fibular (deep peroneal), superficial peroneal, sural and saphenous nerves. There's quite a lot going on.

I never knew the nerves of the foot could be so exciting! I mean, who needs a thriller novel when you have the tibial nerve, the common fibular nerve, and the deep fibular nerve all working together to keep your foot alive It's like a nerve-wracking adventure down there! And don't even get me started on the importance of foot care for diabetics - it's like, don't lose your foot, lose your mind instead.

Interesting how the two foot nerves take a share of the fourth toe. (I fractured a bone in my fourth right toe two weeks ago- the medial base phalanx.) The fourth toe always seemed non-committed to proper movement. This IS useful information and we should all pay attention to our feet!

Brilliant video as usual, one esoteric question. Plantar reflex stimulation results in flexion of the great toe and the smaller toes, however in Babinsky's sign the great toe extends in contradiction to normal pathology, what confusion of the innnervation is happening here?

Hello Sam. Firstly, thanks for lovely videos where you present on your channel I watched a video (vlog) for you about travelling and work (I think in Sheffield). You mentioned that some universities are starting to change their ways in practical anatomy teaching. So, I think it nice idea if you explain the differences between those anatomy teaching styles (Dissection-basd VS Prosections or 3D VR) and mentioning advantages and disadvantages of each style. Also, what do you think regarding the feasibility of using plastenated specimens in teaching?
