Nemophila has finally won me over. The fun they always have is infectious! I'm down 100% "Blooming" was one of the first BAND-MAID songs I heard along with "Dice" and "Domination." I was so excited about this new (to me) band that I went into my office the next day and told of the the front desk ladies about them. I forgot the title for "Blooming" and called it "Orbital." Oops. Can't wait to see them in 2022.

Bowling For the Maids! I'm glad to see the Maids back on your channel. This is a band that you should not sleep on. All the bands were great with technically proficient instrumentalist and talent. But In my opinion the Maid are Top of the Table. Band-Maid has the special sauce that cannot be measured by any technical metric. Of all the Japanese bands you have sampled I feel Band-Maid has it all. As most old school rockers I'm a real sucker for shredding guitars and musicianship but I'm a bigger sucker for heavy grooves, riffs and dynamic songwriting. The problem with songs that are shredfests are the lack memorable riffs or a catchy groove were it sticks to you away from the music. It's like eating candy for dinner sure it is good but it doesn't provide what a hearty meal would. I feel Band-Maid is that satisfying meal. They manage to weave complexity in a way that holds a familiar thread and is spun into a catchy memorable package all while not sacrificing the groove. They are not painted into any particular musical genre which allows them the freedom to explore and access the full musical spectrum to incorporate into their music. But what feel is their greatest trait is their restraint from needless noodling in order to serve the song. It's not like they lack spice, but they know how to season the song with the right amount of spice in the right places. That is something many bands with next level virtuoso talent have trouble with; knowing to restrain yourself from needing to fill up all the space with notes at breakneck speed. Great bands understand silence is a note as well. Band-Maid possess such restraint and have a sound signature that is Unique and unlike any other band, you know it's them within the first few bars. I also feel it's difficult to see it as a competition where you like all the bands but I do prefer Band-Maid overall the others. That does not mean if you choose one band over the other you are rejecting of those bands or they somehow are not a worthy band. It just becomes a matter of preference.

14:05 "This is a song I would put on and, like, drive -- race to." Yup, nailed it. I love this song! 'Blooming' was used in the Netflix movie "Kate" for a high speed car chase. Later on in the movie BAND-MAID themselves make their feature film debut playing the song 'Choose Me' in a night club scene. It's a fun, turn your brain off, action movie. Check it out, po. 🕊

Excellent bowl! Aldious is a great band. Unfortunately, they seem to suffer a curse when it comes to singers. They've had three singers leave the band for health reasons. Maki filled in on the most recent tour. I hope they sign her on permanently. Her vocal style really fits the band. She does a live performance of "We Are" with them where she sounds a lot like Doro Pesch! Oh...and a Band Maid bowl would be awesome!

Thanks for doing this. Hagane are just out of high school. They are evidence that the talent well in Japan is overflowing. Sakura and Mayto are getting set to challenge M&M and the Nemophila ladies for top dual shredders, which is insane. Vocal : Uyu Guitar : Sakura (flying V, also writes and arranges most of the music) Guitar : Mayto Bass : Sayaka Drum : Kanako Sakura Yoshida started posting metal covers on youtube when she was 14, and gained notoriety as a highly technical wizard on the instrument, with a taste for ferocious shredding. That is how most of the other band-members found her. They formed the band around the time they were all finishing high school. The songwriting is astonishingly mature, far beyond what you should be able to expect from a bunch of high-school kids. They have had two vocalists but appear to have a stable lineup now. My favorite thing by them so far is “Soul Beats”: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWyCtrSDj9y6qLw.html The rhythm line seamlessly melds rock and funk throughout. The guitar solo is classic jazz fusion, but with distortion. The heavy use of minor and diminished scales gives it a vaguely middle-eastern vibe, but jacked up to searing intensity. If they can keep putting out stuff this good, they are going to be huge.

In my opinion, BAND MAID knows how to use musical perception and emotion like no one else in the rock world. Musically they are monsters in all aspects but the determinaiting factor, I think, is that they compose and act putting themselves in the shoes of those who listen to them. The goal is to spread emotions to capture your soul. And we like it. The Providers of Love to the Consumers of Love is a Win Win result

I also followed lead singer Uyu (Uyu-Metal) with her band DizzyMetal. A Babymetal cover band. I was floored when my friend in Japan told me they were working together. We formed Hagane Fans International and sent flowers to their first live show. They keep getting better and better. I wouldn't be surprised if some western touring takes place soon.

BAND MAID...Blooming is not their best song. In my opinion is difficult to decide which is the best song of BAND MAID so then you cannot find the best or the worst song. Fact, try to listen them live as they multiply the power, the flow, the dynamics, sensibility with a not seen precision in the world of rock. Everytime we see a MV from BAND MAID we smile trying to imagine the performance live and getting happy chills in advance. Is easier for us ( we are four ) to fly to Tokyo (14.000 kms ) than go to the supermarket to buy beers in a cold day. Happiness has no price... We are not fans we are pilgrims of BAND MAID.

The talent coming out of Japan the last several years is just mind blowing. One good thing that came out of Covid is that all these bands are being discovered. After the secession of ALDIOUS, She was the member of RAGLAIA. Please watch the next songs. "SPIRIT BLACK"(MV re-upload at 2021/12/19) by ALDIOUS : In my opinion, this is the best song of ALDIOUS. The fist drummer ARUTO played so powerful and so fast. "DON'T CHANGE YOUR MIND"(full MV) by RAGLAIA : The short versuon is clear vision. RAMI sang so strong with vibrato. Tamu's jacket and the shades that some of the Nemophila lady's are wearing is homage to the original video. Not sure about the school uniform but the Nemophila lady's could wear anything and still sound and look fantastic. You can make many Band Maid 'bowls'. Check the release dates and you can make ones from their early days, their mid period and the later material from the last two CD's. Kanami's song writing has expanded and improved but I do find the later material can sound over produced. Blooming, is an example of this. Please remember that is my view. Aldious, go way back to 2008. Over the years they have various changes to the line up and have released roughly six albums I believe. I don't know any of their material really but since my Japanese journey from 2014 onwards, they have released material and are known as pioneers for the female metal bands in Japan, sine 2010 or so. This is my view but it seems the average female 'college band' from Japan has more heart and soul on stage and can play better than many of the so called professional western bands. HAGANE are new to me. What a take on progressive rock and illustrates my earlier point about female Japanese bands. They formed in 2018 and here is a link for you as I don't think they have much material for a 'bowl'. Maybe a snack pack? www.metalkingdom.net/band/hagane-38892 Ningen Isu's song reminds me of one of those albums you stumble across in the progressive rock section in a music store back in the 1970's. I am not comparing them to ELP, but they also consisted of three members and it was often stated how can thee guys playing on stage create such an encompassing sound? Thank you for the 'Mega Bowl' Part of me wants to sell up everything I own and go and live feral in Japan and do nothing but go and see bands.

Sadly we could never market them here in the US. The mainstream media is only interested in English speaking acts and the Corporate BS artists that they themselves produce. Listen to one of our Rock radio stations and all you hear is classics and pretty unremarkable new bands. Where Japanese groups do shine is the international community like YT. LoveBites sings in All English and you cannot even pay a radio station in the West to play them. Sad.

It's been a tradition for them to drop a cover on Fridays for over a year now. 98% of their fans love it, myself included. Would you rather get nothing?
