@@nickpennell9878 No, the West Coast of the Sth Island was also on red alert emergency level. But we dodged a bullet this time, but we suffered really bad flooding last time.

@@Vixsniper I get the feeling they the powers are trying to use events like these which are not unusual to our country. I was allow those that don't live the knowledge this event isn't covering the country it's self. No trust or faith in kiwis or people sense danger on the horizon.

That's my town! It's a bit wet rn tbh.

Most of the city isnt effected at all. The area which had the flood wash away the road is a newer area which should have never been developed on being soft clay. The houses that were flooded have always been known to flood, they use to flood alot in the eighties and has been higher up onto the road at Collingwood Street bridge. Anyone who was around in the 60's through to 80's will confirm this. Just talk to an older on looker on bridge Street bridge and you'll find out it's often happen

@@righthandstep5 This has happened plenty of times in Nelsons history and the rivers been alot higher. Other areas being flooded were also known to be flood prone areas. Next time this happens it will be on a king tide

Yep councils are to blame, they allow these houses to be built in suspect areas
