I was a fan of Split Enz from first contact, which happened for me in 1979 or 1980 or thereabouts at the age of 9 or 10, living in the cultural wasteland of Perth, Australia. Would still rate _Message To My Girl_ as one of the greatest songs ever written. Musically and lyrically flawless.

I saw him live at Irving Plaza in NYC a long time ago. I was floored. I’ve seen a lot of concerts and he took my breath away.

@@dedetudor. Agreed, it is an excellent version. His voice holds up to a song with a pretty testing range and of course his guitar playing is superb.

Here is my view: most songs, music, albums etc. are specific to a time and place. I have carried this music through my life at good times and bad, youth - birth of my daughter-middle age and now whatever late 50’s is and it is still as vital and important to me than the first time I heard it….thank you for making my life significantly better Neil !
