Trevor Noah blew Neil DeGrasse Tyson's mind when he spoke about creating interest... That's definitely not something that happens every day... That was a beautiful moment.

Dr Tyson often thinks that everybody is as interested as he is in astrophysics. That's why the concept of him sparking interest among us who aren't as excited as he is about it is so foreign. He then just considers himself a vessel to the knowledge. But he's way more than that. It was indeed a beautiful moment.

*Or* he might have admired how quickly Trevor came up with a perfectly safe way to wrap up the interview after the rather risky statement of war not necessarily being a bad thing. The audience (well, to me that is), seemed rather hesitant, but when it comes to entertainment/showbiz, Trevor himself is quite brilliant. Incredibly interesting interview. Love their conversations.

Not when schools values grades than learning, and when students don't put effort into their learning/reports. You can have a lot of lessons like the above, but if it is not seen on paper and students don't get their expected grades for their lack of effort on paper; then there's nothing you can do. Students/parents prefer passive learning than discovery nowadays. Once it gets a little difficult, what do you think would happen in the classroom?

@@chidumebiarukwe6436 i think, what he meant was, when we think of black celebrities, journalist or astrophysicist doesn't come to our mind right away. Because, we are so used to watching black people marvel at sports and music business mainly (i won't say show business, because, it's still tough for a lesser known black actor to get jobs right away). And, i am not from the states, but i have friends and families living there, and by what i have heard and seen on tv and films, black kids idolizes the music artists and the athletes and want to be like them. Which isn't bad. But, dreams shouldn't have boundaries and wonderful people like trevor and neil are opening new windows for them.

But, you know, when you scarlett johansson playing an asian character, emma stone playing a hawaiian character you know hollywood has a problem.😂 Not that i hate any of those actresses. They are superb at their craft. But white people do get many opportunities that the minorities don't, in hollywood. But in music industry, i think, they still value raw talent. I can be wrong, but that's just my take away from this whole debacle.

What I really love about Neil is that he doesn't intimidate you with his knowledge. If there is something simple, something that you think everyone should know or understand, he answers it without condescension. He is very happy to teach and entertain while he does it. He is one of the only people that I have seen who doesn't turn a lecture into a snooze fest.

Really? Have you ever heard of Old Kemet? Who do you think were the first doctors, astrophysicists, philosophers, engineers...where do you think the greek learned they science from?. Even Plato wrote about this, Socrates commented about this, that everything they learned came from the people of north africa (old kemet=land of blacks, today egypt). why do you think the caucasians can't explain the pyramids of Egypt till this day? It is sad that in medical school they tell people to swear in the name of Hypocrates, a greek white man, they so call father of medicine, even though he wasn't the father of medicine, because the real father of medicine was a blackman named Imhotep who served the the black Pharaoh Djoser from the third Dynasty, the first man to performance cirurgical experiences on people using methods that are used today.

I think what Trevor was getting at is that Neil does indeed make science interesting. Science popularizers are the real MVPs. Maybe Trevor didn't realise that Neil knows the value of science popularizers better than anyone already, and shouldn't need to point that out or do anything but just go on stage with his happy-go-lucky attitude and work his magic. He certainly knows what Sagan would say about teaching. Unfortunately there are people who misinterpret Neil's popularizing as being some kind of underhanded manipulation or other stupid things, which might be why Trevor wanted to reestablish what science popularizers really are for.
