It's always Peter Schiff vs everybody. Sometimes he's wrong but he's right more often than other people...which means I listen to what he's got to say.

Cavuto's recent interview with Vivek R. was a disgrace. Neil needs to go to CNN.

I see Neil's point because the full demise of the economy had not been realized at that point. BUT Peter was still right and a good majority of those govt backed mortgages (Fanny/Freddie) went bust and people stopped paying their mortgage. But at the same time this has driven rent sky high, so the rent/buy prices are closer than in 2008. In my area it's cheaper to buy than to rent but almost nobody can get approved for a loan now with less than 20% down.

Subprime loans are not inherently bad. There's nothing wrong with loaning money to "subprime" borrowers. It's when you start loaning it out at too good of terms, and too much of it, that you start getting problems.

my house became worth less than the loan so I quit paying. it was no longer a good investment . so why keep investing? best thing I ever did. I was about 30,000 underwater. 2&a half years later after buying it cheaper property its pretty much paid off . now I have about thirty thousand in equity in about 6 months I will have no house payment.
