Negishi-ryu Shuriken-jutsu - 42nd Japanese Kobudo Demonstration (2019)
Спорт
Hayasaka Yoshifumi Sensei and his students demonstrating Negishi-ryu Shuriken-jutsu during the 42nd Nihon Kobudo Embutaikai held at the Nippon Budokan on February 3rd, 2019. The event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai.
Negishi-ryu Shuriken-jutsu was founded by Negishi Shorei (1833-1897) in the latter days of the Tokugawa Shogunate based on the teachings of Ganritsu-ryu, with some modifications, especially regarding the shape of the projectiles, to which he gave a characteristic hexagonal shape .

Who chose the perspective from behind the target?

It’s more so you can see the hand position there are other videos of this
I tend to see this a lot when it comes to Kobudo demonstrations, but for some reason this one just compelled me to say something about it. I would just like to frame some things in perspective. I'm not part of any Kobudo or Koryu association, but these are just some thoughts -It seems like some people are talking about the real life application and "if this was to be in a fight". Well, just remember that this is an event demonstration for Kobudo, so I feel like there ma be more of an emphasis on the cultural history. From doing a little search, the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai is an association to help preserved Kobudo. It is re-enacting old techniques. It is just like going to Gettysburg to watch an arms demonstration. The point is the educate on the old arts -This is not the only demonstration and members of this school, there are others. -I'm not trying to equivocate a kendo match to a kenjutsu duel, but I would say that both of them have that same tension. We see techniques where they throw with a weapon. From what little I understand, shuriken where not always meant to wound, but to distract. When you put this in the frame of a duel, something being thrown at you probably gets a reaction, which can be exploited for an opening -I doubt holding a weapon and throwing a shuriken at the same time is an easy task, especially since you're supposed to hold your weapon level to still have some control. -This is a performance in front of many people. I'm certain nerves got to them, just like it is for a performer to get on stage for a performance. Once again, these are just some of my thoughts on this and how I frame it in my mind. I don't claim to be an expert, but I think we should just remember the context of things.

Bo-shuriken. Throwing spikes would do too.
I clicked thinking this was gonna be awesome....and it would have been if the camera angle was NOT looking at the back of the target
BEST CAMERA ANGLE EVER GOOD JOB, WHY UPLOAD THIS

Where are the young and able? Why only grandpaps are barely moving?
@AleF202

The young and able are working 16 hour shifts with barely any rest, uninterested in culture on account of their hapless nihilism, which is a byproduct of their society.
I have a wet paper bag that will defeat you.
In real ninja wars do they both fight that slow and take the time to bow and step up the way they do or would it be some tight movie type stuff?

It's for demonstration, like how it's used. In real life they used guns, bombs, swords and of course throwing daggers.
no need to do slow mo i can god damn see the shuriken. its slower than turtles
Better shuriken in ninpo
Not bad.

Of course they aren't throwing it at full speed and strength inside with a lot of people. Plus it's a conceal weapon that is easy to carry around.
