I loved rivals back in the day, remembered I got 100% completion on cops and racers, completed every event, unlocked every car, upgraded every car to the max, completed every speedlist got every achievement too. So I got my money's worth.

Prinz Xero MC3:DE:R was the best version of the game. For a start it had 124 songs in it, on a ps2 title! Insane!

@@navj9850 Older games literally are overrated now except Carbon. Most Wanted was very long to complete but Carbon is perfect, little short but takes 3 - 4 hours to complete while Most Wanted takes a day or 2 to complete.

I remember when I got my PS4 and this was one of the few games I played the most back then. Never understood why it got so much hate at the time. I personally enjoyed it, and I had a lot of fun. There really wasn’t that much content so it got boring really quick.

Graphics, map, amount of exploration, events, game modes, upgrades, weapons, and multiplayer are all extremely satisfying! Great game.

Who else is here after watching NFS 2015 review, shaking your head...

Yeah,but that sheme were you can do things without online connection and you can really enjoy in game isn't there.What if in few years nobody would play that game,then why did I have it if I can't play online?I'm not a Call of Duty fan but it have AI Bots and you have every weapon so you can play free without connection.That mode isn't in Battlefield so I give him a big minus for that,but ignoring the facts about this,it's a good game.

iLoveGames I really doubt it that that 2 awesome games will die in a few years (give them 5 years more). And in Battlefield 2 had Bot Mode and if knew or investigated some you can even play with 64 bots and play the full map intead of the 16 version by default in the mode ;)

Love the direction the Graphics for NFS games is going, but I'd want something like Midnight Club LA with these graphics and a huge variety of cars. MCLA + NFS Hot Pursuit lego

Yeah I really enjoyed this one, but it just gets old fast I guess

This game would be better if: 1) You could customize your car in depth, like in Underground. 2) It had a cockpit view (yes, not everyone is a fan of this, but imagine how cool it would be with these graphics AND if you had the option to customize your interior).

Adding a Cockpit view to a arcade racing game is not a great idea. look at Midnight Club Los Angeles, it tried to do that, but ultimately failed.

ITzAhhMehMardio Well that's a matter of opinion. I liked the cockpit view in MC:LA. It's an optional gimmick anyway so you're still free to play with every camera setting you like.

Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2 is easily the best NFS ever made! They need to remaster it with new cars and some new tracks. I also liked Most Wanted (2005) more than Underground.

Edwin Scott Yeah you're probably right. I love it so much because it's open road street racing with a wide range of stock sport/super cars. The cops in that game are also just so classic. Maybe it's not intense enough, but I think if they made a game based off of that idea without the graphical limitations they had in 2002 and 200+ cars with online, it would kick ass.

Almost a decade later I'm still having endless fun with UG1, UG2, and the true MW. This game? I become bored after 40 minutes.

It’s not Most Wanted (2005) but I felt this was a worthy follow up, not counting the ones that came in between.

The need for speed series went to shit little by little every year. I used to love the Underground series. I used to love this game for the cool cinematic story lines and feeling like you're having some sense of progress and accomplishment by buying parts for your car and making it better bit by bit as you win races and earn money, earning fame with it as well. Not this right-off-the-bat-$1-million-sports-cars-avaliable-at-your-disposal bullshit. EA, you done fucked it up.

Forza Horizon will shit all over any NFS for aesthetic and performance modifications. If you want tuning play Forza Motorsport 4, you can change everything to the millimetre, including gear ratios, camber, toe, ride height, tire pressure and much much more. If you're serious about tuning NFS isn't even worth looking at.

The forest locations really remind me of NFS Hot Pursuit 2 National Forest Tracks :)

Just bought the bundle on psn for $9. Awesome game, especially when you have the media player streaming your own playlist during the session.

I love it. Reminds me of Hot Persuit. The game is hard. The cops are too fast. I wish the gps screen could be positioned in the center of the screen because every time I look to the side I instantly crash. No pausing keeps it more intense. The map cold be a little larger.

Best NFS game ever and ever and ever and ever

My main gripe with this game is when another car or cop car spawns straight in front of you when you are flooring it at 150 mph (especially when trying to evade orin the middle of a race). The road is totally clear one second and the next you have gone straight into the back of someone who just drops onto the map. Other than that I think the game is brilliant.

I like the long roads but I would've liked to drive in the city and cut through alley ways and such. also cockpit view would've been awesome for this game.

Anyone still play this in 2021?

I loved the whole racers vs cops both controlled by players idea and I hope they bring it back in later titles. Personally loved Rivals but that’s mostly cuz I’m a burnout fanboy and this scratched that aggressive racing itch

AgentBoolen Games it’s a little weightier than burnout but still pretty responsive, it doesn’t require as much finesse on the drifting aspect either, as cheap as it’s gotten it’s defiantly worth a try, though it’s not quite as fun as it used to be with most online servers being empty.

I personally would give the PC version of this game an 8.5/10, what I like about the game are it's beautiful graphics thanks to Frostbite 3, I really enjoy how the pursuit system in Rivals works despite it being kind of frustrating on the racer side at times having it open world like Most Wanted 2012 was also a great return. While I don't mind that the billboards and jack spots do not return here in Rivals it still would have been nice to see them return, the cars on both sides look stunning in detail and design and personalizing/upgrading your cars as a Racer is pretty nice how it gives a bit of a High Stakes, Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted blend to it. The only major complain I have for Rivals is how it's locked to only 30 FPS even on the PC which is absolutely unacceptable for PC game standards, the game also has some game crashing issues too which are rather annoying to experience, I can understand the 30 FPS cap on 360 and PS3 because they run on 8 year old hardware but having that FPS cap on PC, PS4 and Xbone is very upsetting. But regardless I think Ghost Games and Criterion took on a pretty ambiguous project and it turned out pretty great, whatever kind of NFS fan you are you should definitely give Rivals a play-through.

30fps cap already can be unlocked to 60fps and more using commandline argurement in game desktop shortcut :)

Nfs Rivals was the game that brought me into the franchise and was also my childhood game, iliked how you could play as the cops too.

Honestly, this is the best modern NFS game to date. This brings NFS backs to it's root where it's all about driving the fastest cars around, and outrunning the cops (which was added in the third game). I hope in the next NFS game they bring back car tuning, as well as some customization (Not to the point of UG though. I loved UG but a lot of the customization options made the cars look horrible. I want customization more along the lines of NFS World).

Stop saying it gets boring fast, I used to play the same maps on burnout revenge for ps2 thousands of times and always had fun. I would always wait for the awesome satisfying jumps and drifts I knew about or try to break my records. I enjoyed such a simple game so much, we need a new burnout

This game.. Ah the nostolgic, I still play it, and have its beautiful disc.

I found the game to be a half finished multiplayer version of most wanted(with playable cops and a graphics overhaul): 1. there is no customization other than very basic aesthetics(paint and plates) and performance increments that cant really be called tuning. 2. there is no story(i seemed to get about half way through the game and the best I got was someone posting a street racing video on social media for in game story). 3. the "pursuit tech" usually does more damage to your car than the others 4. the goals feel very repetitive (even with a range to choose from) 5. the world doesn't have anything to interact with and most jumps are very awkward to get to.

there was a story in most wanted, the guy at the start messes with your car before a race and I think you end up losing your car and getting caught by the cops, so you work your way up the ranks to get even with him. in rivals there is no overall goal except finishing the missions that get old fast.

We kinda do see a pattern of nfs re-doing their past games (Most wanted, hot pursuit). Im just hoping the reason why we haven't gotten a game like underground is because they're planning to make it reach out expectations.

Just don't buy It for pc that port is horrid

So far the Need For Sped games I have that I still enjoy are Most Wanted 2005 and 2012, Hot Pursuit 2010 (my personal favourite), and The Run. Just recently sold Rivals, that game just didn't do very well...

Biggest mistake is no pausing option

Is this game worth getting if I havent played the previous two? The last one I played was underground on the ps2 I think

This game is supposed to be the best NFS game to date but no ability to pause the game and Frostbite's high system requirements RUINS EVERYTHING!

the only thing i got to know before i buy it, can you tune your cars?

yes, but be aware that it is NOT as deep as nfs underground or most wanted (the first version) customization.

Can someone explain to me: How to just start the game, and race a hot pursuit such as in NFS Hot Pursuit. I'm in a public game driving around and sometimes a see another player and sometimes I even interact with them in the form of joining them in a race or a pursuit, but is there no option to just start a lobby, 4 Cops vs 4 Racers and go? Cause if your in a lobby with a limit of 6 people, you have to be very lucky to get a 3v3 race, which isn't nearly as fun as a 4v4 race. Any help, or is there just no way?

OK, Most Wanted (05) was my most fav game of the series. Is this the closest thing I can get to that on the next gen consoles? Or is the 2012 Most Wanted an identical remake? I'm not disappointed with the 2015 NFS but it is missing something I can't put my finger on. Thanks for any feedback.

I give it a 6 or 7 because for some reason I expected it to be as good as Most Wanted. It was NOT even close.

+LightningSword13 Need for speed rival is a better game, because better mechanics, graphics, gameplay, cars, faster(the feel for speed), better police chase overall its better.(thoughout the games they are testing newer game engines)

Well Rivals just sucks on PS3. Also the whole time I play I hear a chain-like noise that can be compared to fingernails on a chalkboard. That noise happens when my car's motor is going. Also just so far I like Most Wanted Ps3 a lot, it feels better. *****

LightningSword13 ok most wanted is a well made nfs game but got boring fast the sound of the car banging on walls and touch down, sounded like a cardboard box hitting against the walls in a room. for rivals i was hooked on it the longest out of all the nfs games which gets alot of brownies points. Hopefully the next one would be better because they are taking their time on it

This was personally my favorite NFS game to date. Haven't played Heat yet though.

this was my childhood, the roaring engine while pompeii is playing in the background, but it sunddenly ends and the cops are after you, your low on gas... u cant miss this gas stop!

As a car enthusiast, this game is such a slap in the face, its just tooo much arcade, theres no balance of arcade and simulation, which is what nfs used to be. For e.g. underground, mostwanted and carbon, all had REAL life type interfaces which allowed car mods and etc which included parts such as turbos, ported heads and cylinders, tyres, nitrous, brakes rotors/pads, etc... Visuals such as car audio, bodykits, wheels, decals (all legit brands),while the gameplay was a mix between arcade style with a hint of simulation. NFS also used to have such a great story line which was based around the street racing scene(which could be related to reality), with hot girls at every opening scene, not to mention the great choice of music. This garbage (nfs rivals) however is all arcade (interface and gameplay wise), its just burnout with real cars. Very empty story line. If i wanted full arcade, id just purchase burnout.

Check out some first NFS games in 90s and you'll know why what makes Need for Speed Rivals what it is. Those games you're talking about is not the 'real' NFS.

BortaMaga NFS I consider those better than this nfs as well given the timing and technology of that era. NFS highstakes, hotpursits (ps1 and ps2) are so much better. It had more structure in their interface, and it wasnt just a mere copy of burnout with real cars. Given the time and technology back then, those nfs' were actually really good. Now however, they could do so much more to satisfy a much larger market, add some realism and depth in the game. Not some holo empty repetitive game with no story. Its just a reconstruction of burnout, and the last couple of need for speeds that have come out in the past 4 years. I would seriosuly pay 100 dollars+ if nfs was the way it is now, except with the added features of indepth car modifications (performance and visuals), a storyline based around the car scene (or two story lines, one as a cop and one as a racer), a much better structure in its interface, a wider variety of cars (not just exotics- so boringggg) etc...

I can guarantee you, if nfs made a underground 3, with the same gameplay as this, including cop chases etc, it would be the number one seller on the next gen console for 2014.

***** Yea i realize full simulation can be rather boring and repetitive, but what disappointed me was the fact that all they did to make rivals was join hot pursuit and burnout paradise together, use real cars, and then say its a need for speed game. Past 3 years its just been the same over and over again. If you have played burnout paradise, you can see how similar they are, except one just has cop chases (stolen from hotpursuit 2010). I used to play burnout as well, used to love that game, however, when a new burnout was released, so was a new need for speed . So it kinda catered to both sides of the market, one looking for arcade and just going nuts while the other was arcade+simulation with real cars, real car parts, imitation of the street racing world etc... I didnt mind hotpursuit 2010, as they went back to their roots and revived an old era, but this is just rubbish, really disappointing. Im not saying need for speed rivals is a bad game, im just saying its a bad "need for speed" game, cause its catering for a "burnout" market. If it were called burnout, id enjoy it more, cause thats what it is, just a next gen evolved version of burnout. If you actually google underground 3, EA actually is considering making an underground 3, too many people want it, as you can see by my likes im not alone. The problem was that, when underground 1 and 2 were made, it was only console and PC that held the market, now however we have Apple iphone OS, Android OS, Tablets etc, the market grew, so selling underground 3 would be more difficult due to the wide spread of platforms. Apparently they want to make sure it will sell more than 15 million before they consider making one.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy Need for Speed: Rivals. What's the difference between Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Need for Speed: Rivals? Are all of the weapons the same and are basically all of the car choices the same? I had Hot Pursuit and loved it, but I'm contemplating purchasing Rivals. Please help.

I prefer the need for speed II demo off the PC Gamer demo disc that I got in the mail.

I really wish they would go back in the storylines. That would be great. Just like Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) Thats gotta be the best game to date

I played this game back in 2014. never got to finish it cause I got stuck on the part where you have to make an insane amount of points in one session as a cop
