I have a couple explanations regarding beta cars. Nfsmw had a limited car roster because many manufacturers didn’t want to se Their cars involved in cop chases. Those brands were Nissan, and Honda among others. Carbon used mw cars as placeholders until those manufacturers gave permission to use their cars, which are more iconic. That’s why have again a r34 gtr but not a Cadillac, for example. In the same fashion, that’s the reason why some cars seme out of place. Golf r32 and Clío v6 labeled as tuners, probably due to the lack of honda s2000 and nsx or integra, which were planned for the game. Darius Supra: by the time carbon was in development, audi lemans quattro was a secret and they still didn’t have bmw permissions. They used Supra for Darius as a temporary car, this can be sean that it is a very rushed tuned car, using first bodykit available, first rims, no autosculpt... once the lemans quattro was unveiled and they had bmw permissions, it was too late to change the cutscenes and images and they kept the supra so as it give it a meaning in the story. Even the supra was customized with m3 colors. So as to make it clear: darius lends the player his m3 gtr (not a supra) police appears and arrests all players, but player escapes (the black 300c helps him escape). Player goes to rockport, loses the bmw, wins the blacklist so as to recover bmw and once this task is done, The Player can escape rockport and comeback to palmont. But cross is still chasing him and bmw gets destroyed.

Thanks for this explanation. You solved a "mystery" ^^ ! Even if the Supra has the M3 colors it still not match with the MW prequel, at least it's weird and create a disorder. When we play carbon story, it doesn't connect with MW at all with that supra.. And making the iconic GTR totalled in the begining of carbon is worse for the story... Such a shame...

This theory does make a lotta sense. Since Darius is a wealthy character in NFS carbon and there’s no way a regular racer (Player) could afford those M3 gtr racing tuning.

Need for speed Carbon would have been so much more if EA wasn’t so annoyingly bad at release dates. Could’ve been even better than what it is.

Probably because they wanted to make it harder than the race against Darius, but then realized that it wasn't possible.

In the game intro, there was a race. We were probably in the blue Supra for some odd reason. We had gotten away with some documents and money of Darius and left for Rockport. Kenji and other boses were young and new racers and that time and got arrested. We returned a few years later with Cross chasing us from Rockport. Cross and Darius made a deal to get us down. Darius apparently became elite after we left palmont. All others have made their league as well. Kenji says, " I heard you were back in town. Now I want you gone."

It's a shame why they cut the Audi A4, CTS, Golf GTI, Porsche 911 Turbo S and 911 Carrera S. they should have kept them. But we do have the 911 Turbo as dlc on the Xbox 360 version. And the Golf R32 replaced the GTI

Sorry to inform you but Underground 3 was used as a placeholder in a online mode test for XBLA (probably QA, performed by a person named Susie). The game has been named Carbon since mid '05 and before that it was simply known as "Repo Man". GlobalB shows the info in the PS2 beta of NFSMW and final NFSMW if you don't believe me. (also @ 2:24 they censored the statues, I find a lack of tits disturbing)

Alpha map wasnt one from PS2 Demo, it was always same as final Palmont from very concept drawing. PS2 Demo map is only a placeholder mockup, cobbled together from final Palmont to create showcase for terrytory take over mechanic with 3 random tracks they had and to avoid having to use Palmont and making demo file heavier. Probably because each district was meant to represent each car class and they didnt want to both spoil it nor choose just one. Even in PS2 demo minimap file has final Palmont, earliest known concept art for Palmont is identical to final just without exact road layout, but its 4 same districts and San juan, same goes for the drift track. PS2 version does have a cut mini twin track on the minimap file, so they planned to expand it to have more than one perhaps, but scrapped.

kenji was big role in demo, the bosses rules are same in 2006 spring-summer betas

I will pound your ass I'm not sure if it is exactly 0.9 version, but we can asume is a pre-release version. Sometimes these Pre-realeased versions get into retail stores. But, no, it's not a beta, just pre-release press version.
