We used to use ferrules for compression fittings in all the many sizes needed on trucks but yours are definitely nicer to use. Since I worked in N.Y.C. I should have just used spent bullet casings like you suggested. I'm sure they would have been easy to find there. 😁 Props to Penny for keeping the camera steady while laughing uncontrollably during the chuck key scenes. Cheers and safe riding. ❤👍👍

Great video once again Del. My late uncle, who worked for Mr Kipling as an engineer, used to do the very same thing. I inherited those tools. Wise words, indeed at the start of your video, Del. Couldn't have come at a better time for me. Perfect for a situation that I am going through at this present moment! Yeah, that other tool came to mind you made for a bike you had. The swinging arm tool, from some tubing fashioned with simple tools. It had cut-outs and made to work with a torque wrench. Ingenious!

Absolutely mate, hand made tools to get you over the cost of a specialised item are always worth having! Hope life is ok there, there will always be critics and there will always be hateful people with an axe to grind, but I always think what people think of me is none of my business and I treat people how they treat me, I think that's the fairest way to be... take care and enjoy your weekend, D&Px

Fortunately I inherited a bunch of this style of punches from my dad's aircraft mechanic tools and they cover most of my needs....otherwise, there are plenty of options among all the different bullet casings around here, lol!! Always enjoy these 'need a tool, make a tool' series! Ride safe!

Your 7.62 tool is actually a little better in one way than these sturdy boys you just made, since you can use the primer hole to rod out any pieces that get stuck inside by running a wire or tiny drill bit in from the back and push out the waste :) Not really a problem worth bothering to solve by drilling out the ones you made, but it's a mostly imaginary benefit of using fired brass as a tool... "hey, look! I can punch out this pesky cork from the gasket I just made with a drill bit!" ... Loved the white board message today! .. Enjoy your weekend, you two! It's T-shirt riding weather today here in Mississippi :)

Nicely done! Have you considered boring a small hole all the way through each punch from the striking end to facilitate insertion of a small rod or pin-punch to clear accumulated punched discs from the interior of the punch? De-capping the expended round casing would accomplish the same purpose. Of course, perhaps I'm seeking a solution to a problem that doesn't exist to begin with.

HAHAHAHH Del.... Your getting older putting that chuck away seems to be more challenging that it used to be (OH the innuendo's I could have put here... This was the cleanest statement I could come up with).... Thank you for that lovely bit of humor it just makes my day when you add something just a little different.... More TARDIS noises in the future please (unless it de-monitises you then don't do it!) wonderful video as always... Can't wait till I can get my channel as good as yours (Different name to this one and while about motorcycles not what you do).

'Need a tool - make a tool', ever true . . . & if lucky, you'll end up with 'The magic drawer of Desperation', full of hand-made 'implements with no name', that, if sifted through knowingly & given that extra little burst of lateral thinking, can usually be made to 'cure' just about anything! : )xx
