So wonderful to see some non-European history here. It can be so easy for English-speaking history channels to be eurocentric with their content but there is so much history on other continents that we just don't learn about, and so much of it is really interesting! We wanna learn it all! :D

@@nataliep501please don’t pretend your schooling speaks for all the many European countries teachings of world history, don’t generalise as each country in Europe has some differences in education & it’s on you to further your knowledge outside of school in adulthood which it’s evident many Europeans do hence we’re on the same video as you.
Nothing like late Imperial China for the dramatic, the bizarre, and the tragic. Thanks for posting this compilation!

Right?? I am sure there was murder and intrigue all through those courts with the jealousy and , the heirs having to basically compete. Sun Tzu perhaps perfected his craft from these courts! lol There is a life I would like to know about!
As usual, your stellar work, blows me away. Thank you for introducing me to these long forgotten young women, and a glimpse of their lives. We can just barely imagine what it was like then, but you are able to place us in their shoes, so to speak. You manage to capture their emotional and human feelings. Which brings them to life for me. That's an Art my young friend. You truly have a gift.

SINCE THE START IF COVID I HAVE BEEN WATCHING CHINESE DRAMAS NON. STOP.... I LOVE THEM . ❤️ ❤❤🥰🥰
Thank you so much for doing a video on Chinese historical figures! We don't see many of these nowadays. A lot of these people's stories are intriguing and deserve to be told. The way you narrate is informative and very easy to listen to. The only complaint I have is that a bunch of the images used here aren't Chinese but Japanese or Korean. I understand that these countries often took inspiration from one another so there is a lot of similarities when it comes to their culture, art, aesthetics, etc but these countries also have a long history of bad tension and bouts of hating each other so it's not the best idea to use one countries' art/visuals while talking about another's without disclosing it. I know the images were just used for visual aid and it doesn't take away from the storytelling itself, so it's not the end of the world. Anyway's I think it's something to keep in mind for the future :)
This was really good, man. I'm in awe of your ability to find topics for videos and then curate enormous amounts of information into such fascinating stories about people I never knew existed and then become fascinated by their existence. You have such a rare talent. Thank you.

A lot of people complained about the ai images and Japanese and Korean images, but I don’t really care as long as the story is accurate and enjoyable which it is, love your content ❤
Thank you for the videos, I love them and appreciate all you do researching the content. You do have a comforting and calming voice, have you thought about also doing night calming relaxing videos in some way maybe reading well known novels? Theses videos are great but also very interesting and keep me awake because I’m so interested BUT if you had a second channel reading for night time listeners to calm and relax ready to sleep then that would be great 👍❤️ if you do please let me know. PUyi was said to be very cruel, sadistic and violent to his wifes and that he never had relations with them as he was gay, hence why his wife may have had relations and a daughter elsewhere.

Nice documentary. It is a tragedy to be the emperor's queen or concubine. And China is not alone in these tragedies that still exists today. By the way, the documentary did not mention Puyi lost his "man ability" at a very early age because of over indulgence with maids in the palace. He didn't sleep with either of his wives after they get married.

Hello, Forgotten Lives. Do you have any plans to start a patreon membership? I have a very cool video suggestion about a great-grandson of Mary, Queen of Scots that no one knows abouts (and he was a criminal). I'm doing some great research over him, it's a very tragic and beautiful story, but sadly there's nothing about him in terms of a book, video etc. I'd be glady help you on the script and title suggestions (via email), I believe it'd be one of the most viewed videos of your channel. I don't even want my name to appear on the video or anything, and I'd actually even give you a tip. I love your channel, and hopefully it'll get to 1M subs one day!

Would be an interesting one on Korea! About Korean Men. And why they are getting taller in the past 50 years. Something going on there!?🤷🤔🤷🤗❤️🔥🙋
Firstly, your content and narration are stellar. Your storytelling ability truly stands out and keeps the audience engaged. However, I’d recommend resisting the urge to show your face. It tends to distract from the otherwise immersive experience you create. Overall, your work is amazing, and this small adjustment could make it even better. Keep up the fantastic job!

some of the photos in this video aren't chinese, they're korean and japanese.
Empress Dowager Cixi.. pls get it corrected...
Please consider learning correct pronunciation of the Chinese words. For example, the e in Chenglong is a schwa sound, and the o in long is pronounced as a sound between o and u,
Half brother, not step brother cuz they share same biological father.

And? He may have focused on stories about Chinese people but also talked about the influences around them including Japan and Korea so including art/photos from those places was entirely appropriate.
Great video I find Chinese culture so fascinating. Quite annoying every history video is non Europeans assuming we know nothing about it tho as that’s not true & there’s many countries in Europe so generalising is as stupid as their assumptions.
It was suggested I find another channel - so I have unsubscribed. Thanks for the advice to look elsewhere 😂
