+Damilola Adedeji She said "We do have knowledge more than men." So she'd prefer an older men, thus he would have come up to a level equal to her as a woman.

So no one's going to state the obvious factor in why most NIGERIAN men wouldn't and DON'T MARRY older women huh? Biological clock issues... whether it is the pressure that a certain woman over a certain age will most likely put on a younger man because YES she does not have 5+ years to waste dating you if she is already 5+ years older than you... for others, their time limit is two years. The other issue? The younger man or his family looking at the older woman as a "bad investment" due to their fear that she won't be able to give birth/ have a healthy baby. The older the woman, the older the egg, the less eggs... darn biological clock. If she is over 30 but under 35 she's still ok. Over 35, under 40? Pushing it... medically speaking. Nigerian families are big on fertility and it being on the woman, coupled with the idea of financial stability being on the man... that's where the comfort and trend lye in regards to age: The men being older than the women. The two male guests admitted to dating multiple older women but not one of them married these women. When I hear "dating"... I hear "fleeting connection" "sex" "trial run"... forget who you would date gentlemen... WHO WOULD YOU MARRY? This episodes convo was so "safe" lol

Double standard is when you accept that it is traditional for men to be older than women in a marriage and then shun that tradition.. But on the other hand agree that it is traditional for man to be the bread winner and then accept that tradition... Double standard!!

i have found that maturity depends more on exposure than age(number of years). lately that maturity seems to be relative sha. everyone is talking about how they are mature and not, and have plenty definitions for it. 😒😒😒

Hmm ! Welcome back ! I missed you ! Like you said, in African culture, age is important in a relationship. So important that I was genuinely feeling bad dating a boy 10 days younger than me ! lol Now living in the Western world, I don't know... I never really dated younger than me, and maybe never will, but if the guy is mature enough, I think I'll get through it well.

such an intresting topic, for me i think love matters alot, and also in terms of age people should consider it cos once you marry somone much older than you are, he/she would keep seeing you as child and maybe things you would want to do at that point in time would not be things the other person wants to do. but at the end its all about choice.

There is really nothing wrong being the breadwinner as a woman as long as the respect for him is there and don't emasculate him of his position. That's how I feel personally. It's both our money.

Huh? Crying when your heart has been broken is immature??? Please where was it stated in our culture that you cannot date a younger man? I have many uncles that are married to older women, and even grandparents. As for that mumu girl that said if you marry an older man, he will be beating you, she is just a typical zombie. Even some younger men these days beat women, regardless of age. And so what if you date/marry a younger guy, at the end of the day you're the one that understand your relationship. If the younger guy is mature, treats you right, and is very ambitious, hardworking, and not lazy, why should you care what anyone says? The most important thing is that you are happy. The problem with some Africans is that they are very judgmental, and they like poking their mouth in people's business. How about you mind your own business and let people handle things for themselves. Also, i don't see the big deal with a woman being the bread winner of her home. So long as her husband is also working, and he is very supportive, that's perfectly fine. In life, some people are more opportune than some others, the woman might have been lucky to find a job that pays more money, and her husband might have a job that pays less money, OR the woman might have a business of her own that is booming, while her husband might be working under someone, and is being paid a set amount each pay period. People will always complain, no matter if you are doing the right thing, and this is why you shouldn't listen to those people that judge your situation because they just want to talk smack. Most of the times, these people that judge others don't even have a perfect life, and they have more baggage than you. Now, so long as you keep your life private and you're happy, you shouldn't let stuff that people say bother you. At the end of the day, you're the only one that understands your situation, and no one else does, so you might as well just ignore the bullshit comments that people make about you, because they are probably just jealous, since they don't know anything about you, they try to make things up. BUT, if you decide to make your business a public affair, don't get mad when people talk smack about you, cos you put your business out there for people to talk about it, so you might as well just entertain the bullshit. Africans need to realize the importance of happiness in life, and stop doing stuff because so-called culture approves of it. Culture isn't gonna give you happiness when you are unhappy in a marriage. The same culture will laugh at you when that same marriage that culture approved of fails. Be wise people, think about yourself first and your happiness, and not what culture has to say. And most importantly, always make sure you DO THE RIGHT THING. I believe everyone knows the difference between RIGHT and WRONG.
