Just imagine if Gary Payton went to the Lakers earlier, they would have been phenomenal as a team.

I was at this game as a young tyke. I remember that open court drive by GP did before the end of the first quarter and thinking, damn this dude is killing us lol. Happy to see these highlights all these years later

I never say anyone with the exception of M.J who brought it to young K.B; GP was taking that man: that move where he was isolated on the right side of the block against Kobe, acted as if he was going to back him down but instead spin baseline for the layup was straight one on one streetball schooling. But then K.B got him right back with a baseline spin for the 2 handed dunk past the glove-what a duel! Young Kobe showing casing that he was taking the throne from M.J.

Bruh! I remember this game I was in 5th grade watching this on a rainy Sunday afternoon in NC at home this was the second game of a doubleheader on NBC (can't remember the 1st game). This was the 99 lockout season and like every other kid who grew up in the 90s I was a Bulls fan but that changed once MJ retired and they broke the team up. I eventually became a Laker fan the season after this one, but Kobe was still an up and coming superstar, GP was still one of the top 5 if not the best PG in the league and not to mention the rare dunk from GP at 12:55!! I remember I cut the game off and started watching cartoons after GP's dunk Oh and one more thing I can count on one hand how many times I've seen GP dunk live in a game with this being one of them was this his last in game dunk?🤔 cause I don't recall seeing him dunk no more after this game

@@baileyphillips1490 None players can stop other 1 on 1 . They can slow them down or force more fg attempt. Lock down defender job is to reduce scoring at least 2-5 less than average of scorer when Rodman held Malone on 4 pts left they won ring because most of games were finished 2 pts win that 4 points made difference. If Malone scored 30 ppg instead of 26 Jazz would be champions because he canceled Jordan scoring and every game was last point decided by Steve Kerr or MJ or Kukoc in finals minute. Rodman gave them 3peat he didnt stop Malone he reduced him that few percentage.
