The WNBA is still basketball though, while the NBA is not and has been turned into a packaged product. Simply put - the NBA sucks: it's not competitive, they play zero D and the new rules are just there to foster more fastbreak, less grit, more scoring, less defense, more dribbling, less playbook, more traveling violation non-calls etc. etc. But the NBA's product appearance vs. the WNBA's sports appearance is the consumer's fault: as a society we are becoming slouches that want technology doing everything for us and we want everything fast and easy and on-the-go. So that idiot fake sports show host there toward the end of this video was right about one thing - it IS all about the consumer today. The only thing is this is supposed to sports not some consumer product. The NBA could successfully over time transition the WNBA to be similarly a shallow but profitable consumer product like the NBA is. That a good thing or bad thing?

Women professional sports (with the exception of Tennis) are just not athletic enough to attract a critical mass audience - so they end up as subsidized PR projects for the main professional league. Same in basketball, soccer, cricket, rugby etc.

To add clarity to this statement about providing for charities rather than “prop up” the WNBA... What if you gave this 10 million a year to Clothing for Homeless Children... but the children get on the media and say, “You people aren’t giving enough. We deserve better cloths... and what about shoes. Damn! Would a pair of Nikes hurt ya!!!” Time to close this shop up and send the whole bunch packin back to the school yard. Oh, and give em each $100 to use as betting money on pick up playground games with guys! All of the “ladies” would be broke by the end of the day! Done!

Wokeness means promoting women’s sports even more so over men’s sports these days, and companies/networks/corporations who don’t go woke get cancelled. The WNBA basically has the NBA by the balls. The NBA is basically forced to keep funding the money hemorrhaging WNBA, yet no amount of marketing or PR can force sports fans to start caring about women’s sports.

Fun fact: The single highest attended WNBA game in history was the Mystics home game which occurred the same day as game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Washington Capitals and the Las Vegas Golden Knights, because there was a viewing party in the arena following the basketball game. And hockey fans were willing to simply be there for 6 hours, just to guarantee their seats to watch the game on the jumbotron (the game was in Vegas). And I love hockey, but it is by a wide margin, the least popular of the big 4 American sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL). This should speak volumes to how little anyone cares about seeing an WNBA game.

So ok let me try to understand this. At this time WNBA players receive 20% of the REVENUE (not profit because if so they would be billed every year instead of getting paid). Even with 20% of the revenue, WNBA overall loses money. In order to continue operating, WNBA is subsidized by the NBA. Yet the women are asking for a raise. So if lets say women get the raise and get paid 35% of the revenue then where is the money going to come from? Only place it can come from is in the form of larger subsidy from the NBA. Basically these women are asking for bigger handouts from the NBA, the men. WNBA is supposedly a league where they are trying to promote gender equality, this 'women can do it too' mantra yet they are looking for the men to carry them? The product itself is bad. You can wrap a box of shit with whatever kind of shiny pretty wrappings you want, but what you get at the end of the day is a box of shit i.e. WNBA.

If you are always so worried about the male league making more money, then you are never focused on improving yourself and your own league to make money. As far as I'm concerned, the WNBA is full of a bunch of lesbianic, feminist pussies who want an equivalent handout simply because they are considered professional athletes. The difference is, they don't get butts in seats or eyes on matches like Curry, LeBron, Klay, Durant, Anthony Davis, Kyrie, Kawhi etc etc do. I hope they go out of business or that the NBA sells their share in the league ASAP.

Imagine two businesses- Business 1 Makes a lot of money, Business 2 loses a lot of money. Business 1 invests and helps out business 2, looking for nothing other than perhaps some form of gratitude. Business 2 sees that the employees of business 1 are making more money than them & they get jealous. Business 1 continues to support Business 2, ensuring all their employees are kept in employment. Business 2 starts to DEMAND that they are paid more, simply because employees of Business 1 earn more. Business 1 explains that business 1 employees earn more, because they work in a very successful and profitable business. Business 2 employees don't care, even though they have been kept in a job due to the generosity of business 1 supporting their failing business, they again demand more money. At what point does Business 1 turn round and simply say: "Fuck you, you ungrateful shits, we've kept you employed in a job for X number of years and you constantly turn round and spit in our face? - Well fuck you, you're on your own." At which point Business 2 declines steadily resulting in all employees of Business 2 being either completely out of employment or working part-time. Simple solution to all of this, if they wanna be paid like the men, then let them play with the men. Lets see these women go through all the high school scouting, college scouting, and lets see them prove their worth against the men. Lets see them try to out-shine these men getting paid millions. Now when we see these women doing step-backs over LeBron and alley-oopin' over KD, then AND ONLY THEN will they receive top dollar like those men who have proven themselves. Prove your worth. Don't just bitch about cash because YOU THINK you deserve it. I don't wanna hear the "Well they are men and we are women" either. If thats the case, then shut the fuck up. You shouldn't have been comparing your situation and paychecks to those men's situation and paychecks in the 1st place. Their argument is terribly thought out and horribly presented

I'm pretty far to the left....and I don't understand what the fuck the wnba players are thinking here. It also bothers me to no end when people complain about athletes being "overpaid". Listen...LeBron James probably brings a billion dollars to every team he plays for...how valuable are you to your company? The difference is he's irreplaceable...and your company can find a new you tomorrow. I swear whenever I hear anybody complain about either one of these issues I know I'll just never get along with them. I WISH the WNBA could draw enough fans in to make their players paid better...but you can't ask a completely different sports league to fully support your league and cut their paycheck in half so you make the same amount. They need to find a way to market the wnba better...or just admit it's a failure and play overseas.
