Nazare - BOMB SWELL - Friday 8th December - Shot 8K Red V Raptor

Спорт

The Sebastian Show.
A lot of hype on this swell so I decided to wack together the better waves from today Friday 8th December. It was not the biggest waves but the 20,000 plus spectators got to see a really good show mostly staring Sebastian Steudtner. Enjoy
PS - Excuse the specs of dust that must have got on my camera censor before shooting..

I wanna move to Nazaré so much. I cannot imagine a greater way to spend the rest of my life than to stare at 80-100 foot waves all the time. THINK OF THE HEALING IONS!!! 🤸🏻‍♂️🤸🏻‍♂️🤸🏻‍♂️

The chop along the face of the swell is tough enough to make you wipe out not counting the millions of pounds of water waiting to break you in half if the chop gets you!!! HAHAHAHAAAA!!! AWESOME STUFF!!!

It's tiny dust or other very small particles on the image sensor inside the camera. At one point, there were up to 3 of them across the frame. 🫥 If you're going to go to the expense and trouble to shoot with an 8k capable RED V Raptor, the first order of business is to keep your sensor clean, FFS. I know that this "just happens" to the best of us sometimes and it's unfortunate, but again, if you're gonna shoot with a RED, you've gotta be vigilant about this, and there are certain practices and techniques in this type of environment to minimize this from occurring. Still, it's great footage, even though I'm not keen on this type of tow-in "surfing."

Of course paddling is preferred. But even jaws and mavs still have tow days when it's too stormy or windy. The issue with Nazare is that it doesn't have a defined reef, rather the ski team has to pick out an emerging peak from 100s of meters away and race to get in position.

Lately surf sessions in Nazare are causing me a strange feeling, I only see surfers looking for glory, success and recognition but I don't see much of the essence of surfing except from a few ones. I know it is a difficult wave and I imagine that its size and strength must be imposing but it reminds me of all those people who, without being professional climbers, try to climb mount Everest just so they can tell their friends and feed their own ego. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the feeling I've had in recent years

@@maaags_ Yes, I'm agree with that. I know that often in big waves the goal is just going straight and not being caught but anyway in my opinion every surfer should try to draw a beautiful line or trying at least like Kai Lenny does for example. He's a genius, the exception in big wave surfing, I know, but he's pushing the limits and showing that a different surfing is possible. Basically I have the impression that some people don't even have the basic skills in surfing and are playing the game in Nazare
