I surfed Puerto Escondido back in the late 70s early 80s before it got popular surfed the point, Beach break, bamboo shacks we lived in

Hellmen. Respect to those lads.

Totally agree. and cloudbreak is way cleaner. porto always looks murky with raw sewage floating around.

Makua Rothman at Cloudbreak actual biggest tube ride ever? This one here looks like a sick surfing-progressing kind of sesh, though for sure!

It was close to that when I rolled in on the bus from Oaxaca in late May 2021...during the Plandemic... Mostly jet ski entry... Big league surging all the way... Great footage! 👍🏽

Funny I watched that same tractor stealing sand from the beach a few years back. They brought it up to some instant bar. I was amused that no one said anything to the driver. Clearly the only tractor for hire at the time.

To just stand on the beach and see those waves would be terrifying enough but to then go take them on! Surprised these guys even stay afloat with the humungous balls of steel they so obviously carry around. Great video.

Absolutely insane. Would not want to get caught on the inside. I got worked over pretty good at Puerto Escondido and it was just a little overhead. Could only image triple overhead.

Looks like an average day at the Naples pier !

the amount of white water thrown around on impact tells a lot about how scary and powerful this wave has to be. viewing the riding of this stuff certainly impressed me, long before the guy with skills to be out there said he was afraid he was going to die underwater. you do that near death stuff too often and you loose memories , because your brain transfers everything it has into an attempt at survival. Firefighters have documented this effect.

used to go in the 80s top dogs back then where Slade , Bomber Bill Weir , Ron Briggs ,, there'd be daze only those guys out just GIANT Far Bar we'd be up at Carmelita's drinking beer smoking joints just waiting for it to get smaller ,, different time 9'5"s -10' single fins no leash no jet skis paddle out through the harbor on the biggest daze , zero houses from town to the point was a great period in Mex

Puerto escondido is just crazy. If ever there was going to be a huge barrel . Its here. But cloudbreak went off a couple of days ago. But this sucker here is just mean. RLTW 3/75

Definitely huge barrels. Puerto is heavy. By far, not the biggest, though. Teahupo'o barrels bigger, deeper and way heavier. Great footage.

Largest ever in Puerto history it says. Maybe maybe not but it says in Puerto.

I’m going to be ‘that guy’ to address the fact that these heroes are being slung into the waves by a two stroke watercraft. Never going to be as awesome as the new school thinks they are. Paddle in or don’t call it surfing. That goes for pro comps as well. Half the game in surfing is judging when to go and when not to. Having a jet ski pluck you out of the whitewater is half-assed. I am a firm believer in keeping surf non assisted. Now I go back into my hole
