I went to AT A school Memphis in 1970/71. We had one room with about 50 sets of metal bunkbeds. I never saw a 2 or 4 man room until we flew into an Air Force base. Nice to see things have improved in 50+ years.

In 1964 Photo A School at P'cola we had 3-deck brick barracks (across the street from the NavAir cadets), four people to a room with double bunks and double wall lockers. Chow was the mess hall on a secondary base, ours was under renovation. Much more upscale today. I was a Marine PFC, $81/month.

My son is meeting with a navy recruiter tomorrow. Start of a new adventure. I tried telling him to meet with an airforce recruiter too field out his options. Good selection of scents. My son has a great selection of cologne too.

I stayed in a room very similar to this in college lmao, the dorms used to be navy barracks until they shut the base down and the school moved in. I swear I've gotten some of the best sleep of my life on that blue mattress

That is so ironic, I graduated bootcamp in August 16th and I am currently in Pensacola for IT. Before leaving for bootcamp I would watch a lot of KZread videos so I could get my mind prepared for my new journey. I appreciated some of the advices you had in your videos. This is my favorite video of yours yet, for several reasons. Pensacola is my hometown, although I left in 1973 to join the Navy. I went to MM "A" school in Great Lakes. I arrived there in Feb 1974. That was a rude awakening for this ole Florida boy. I had never experienced winter until then. Your room looks much the same as mine in "A" school, except for the obvious modern touches, like the IPad, beds, electricity, indoor plumbing and such.. Hit up Peg Leg Pete's on the beach, and Marina Oyster Barn, my 2 personal favorites. Good luck in school. Thanks for sharing these videos.

During the forge after nick at night when we have to low crawl under the barbed wire while they shoot over our head. I used all my energy low crawling so afterwards we had to ruck 6 miles. I had no energy, i was exhausted, i felt like quitting, wen we made it to the next site i had a tear of joy. When i say it sucked it did. I didn’t believe i would make it.

At my "A School" (Great Lakes BP&E/Machinist Mate) we had 4 to a room with 2 very basic dbl.deck bunks and 4 good-sized metal lockers...group toilet/showers at end of hall. None of this namby-pamby good-time refrigerator, bureau, etc!!!

You do realize that when I went through A School they kept us in open bay barracks; nothing like sharing your digs with 100 of your closest friends! ;) Back then E6 and below did not get housing money and you only qualified for BHA if you were married and by the way, even then you could only get it if you were at least an E5.
