Must be a cultural thing.

Electric guitars just don't work with bagpipes. The electric bass is fine because it's not as distorted and because it occupies a lower frequency range, but when the main melody switches from bagpipe to electric guitar the difference in sound is jarring. If you must switch from bagpipes to a different melodic instrument for variety, consider using a harpsichord instead of an electric guitar.

Clearly you have never heard Long Way to the Top by ACDC! Guitar and pipes go brilliantly together! Also, bagpipes would completely dominate a harpsichord. Harpsichord is very quite. That's why it is used in chamber music with small amounts of strings or quiet winds like recorders and oboes. Good idea, though
