All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted

I’m cleaning out my 78 year old dads house, he passed in December. I just found a piece of paper with this band and song written on it. It was in his music room, with countless other lists of songs and bands he wanted to check out. I’m 52, he was 78, my eldest is 32. We all listen to you, and we didn’t even know the others did. ❤

The reason why Heilung is named healing, it's because they're Shamans and their purpose is to heal. Music is a very spiritual tool that can heal almost anything, especially the music made by a shaman. Their concerts aren't music, they're rituals meant to heal and bless the audience who watches them, and with technology that blessing passes to us. Healing in the Germanic mindset is to take a hot blade and hold it to the wound. This burns out infection and molds the flesh together. Heilung is the hot blade and our souls and broken connection to earth and Natur are the two sides of the wound. They heal that connection. This is my understanding of Heilung. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland 🇩🇪

Thank you. I've loved them for years and they call my soul when it needs healing. I'm going through a particular time ATM with my healing. This is true. It isn't as effective via phone/TV etc. They are shamans. I appreciate them greatly.

This was the song that introduced me to the band 6 years ago. I just saw them live a couple days ago at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It was a transcendent experience.
For those who are confused on the time frame of what this is representing, it's not necessarily "Vikings," and more or less not Neolithic. It's Proto-Germanic she's singing here, and in most of their music. It's Pre-Migration Period, 600 years before the Vikings, ~1st Century CE til ~550 when Elder Futhark broke into Younger Futhark. It's based on historical linguistic reconstruction and snippets of text found archeologically and through Tacitus & Saxo Grammaticus, some of which were carved in runes on bone fragments, or described pejoratively by Latin writers, who described the throat singing as like "howling dogs," when it would sound provisionally like in this video, inferred by the Sammi, Mongol, Indigenous Greenland, and Faroese traditions which survived the ages relatively unchanged. Then they kinda do this English language "rap," which is based on descriptions of Galdralag and Seiðalag -- no surviving examples of which exist outside of very, very scant snippets in the Poetic and Prose Edda, and in descriptions by Saxo Grammaticus and possibly by Tacitus. The low growling and hissing, the forked fingers, is based on descriptions of Seiðr magic. That kind of image survived in the inspiration of "witches" which Christians were afraid of deeply, who were real people practicing a similar indigenous artform, and came to become an abstracted meme of its own that evolved & mutated into the 21st century in a vague smear of pop culture idioms.
