NATURE STRIP DESTROYS HIS RIVALS IN THE 2022 KINGS STAND STAKES AT ROYAL ASCOT
‘Demolition job’: Aussie freak blows the world away in famous win
An Australian miracle horse has politely told the world to shut up after a history-making win that has dropped jaws around the world.
That’s one for Australia.
Aussie sprinter Nature Strip is being labelled a “freak of a horse” on the global stage after making the long journey worthwhile by winning the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes on the first day of the Royal Ascot meeting on Wednesday morning (AEST).
The Chris Waller-trained star’s sublime performance took place with the meeting’s most notable supporter Queen Elizabeth II absent.
As she watched on television from Windsor Castle, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla stood in.
It was the first Royal Ascot since 2019 to greet a full house made up largely of top-hatted and tail-coated men and women dressed in the latest fashion, after two years of crowd restrictions due to Covid.
The pandemic meant Nature Strip and Waller had waited a long time to get an opportunity to prove the horse is the world’s best sprinter on the world stage - now they’ve silenced any doubters.
It was supposed to be a shoot-out between America’s best sprinter Golden Pal - who started favourite - and the Aussie, but it instead turned into a massacre.
The seven-year-old blew them away to win by more than four lengths in a historic victory.
It was the first time an Aussie has won the £500,000 ($870,000), 1000m race since Scenic Blast in 2009.
In a race that included the best sprinters in the UK and Europe, there is no argument that Nature Strip is the undisputed king.
“He’s an absolute freak of a horse,” said McDonald.
“I thought how has one come with him. I didn’t know it was a loose horse. That riderless horse (Khadeem) gave me a little fright!”
Waller was delighted he had confirmed he deserved to be rated among the best horses in the world.
“It means a lot,” said Waller.
“We don’t get the opportunity very often to come here and take on the English, Irish, French, Americans and even Dubai and Hong Kong runners.
“To therefore bring a horse here and not only run, but win is very special. It was breathtaking.”
Waller said he would decide later in the week if Nature Strip would run in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes, although he already has Home Affairs in it.
However, he later went back on that comment and said he will now take Nature Strip back home to Australia.
The world was blown away by the performance.

@@elgransenor1472 Why would any Australian take a mile-middle distance horse to England when the prize money is so pitiful? There's been enough horses from Australia win mile-middle distance G1s in Europe (So You Think, Starcraft, Haradasun) to show that it's no big deal, so why would anyone race their horses for peanuts in England to prove what's already been proven? In case you missed it, the Everest at Randwick is worth more than the entire Royal Ascot meeting put together. There's at least twenty mile-middle distance events in Australia worth more than the Prince of Wales, the richest race on the Royal Ascot card. But please enjoy your 3 horse King George and your 5 horse Prince of Wales. In case you don't realize it, the horses that would have been filling those fields in the past now get shipped out to Australia. Your Derby runner up has just joined the exodus, so good luck finding even 5 runners for these races in future.

That was a beating to nearly match the record held by surprise, surprise, another Australian horse. Nice fact about the Everest being worth more than the entire Ascot meeting. There's just something special when you see a beautiful breed of horse with 4 white socks...just for people who don't know much about scope and leg changes depending upon which way they turn, the white socks help you see it more, just to add, remember when EVERYONE in the science field said that a horse always has one leg on the ground, even as a young kid, going back to genghis Khan days, when training to use the horse bow, kids were thought only RELEASE the arrows when the horse is of the ground...it's the saddle that made this possible, basically the saddle kept the horse going in circles, I have a replica horse bow, and I bruised my holding arm badly, then I thought about if on a horse you would have to hold it sideways, and I ended up not with any more bruises and hit the target EVERYTIME...genghis Khan knew his stuff...I missed out on an opportunity to buy a silver horse, with the very saddle I'm speaking about, just went over the price I was willing to pay, still got a lovely 4 PEICE collection of penknives for a very good price, world war 1, and the rest about 90 -100 year's old, ABSOLUTELY always say, imagine if they could talk, and how did they get here? The hindenburg commemoration pen knife is mint condition, as are the other 3...LOVE COLLECTING HISTORICAL THINGS.... BUT A BEAUTIFUL CHESTNUT HORSE WITH WHITE SOCKS AND A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY...NOTHING BETTER TO SEE...WIN OR NOT ...
