The Last 10 Epsom Derby Winners (2010-2019) FULL RACES

Спорт

The Derby Stakes, officially the Investec Derby, popularly known as the Derby is a Group 1 flat horse race in England open to three-year-old colts and fillies. It is run at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey over a distance of one mile, four furlongs and 6 yards (2,420 metres), on the first Saturday of June each year.[1]
It is Britain's richest horse race, and the most prestigious of the five Classics. It is sometimes referred to as the "Blue Riband" of the turf. The race serves as the middle leg of the historically significant Triple Crown of British horse racing, preceded by the 2000 Guineas and followed by the St Leger, although the feat of winning all three is rarely attempted in the modern era due to changing priorities in racing and breeding, and the demands it places on horses.

    2018: Masar’s win was the most emotional for me. I watched it live and saw how he “came alive” from the back to win 🏆 with a large gap… The close up videos from back in 2018 show clearly how he dug into the ground such that the grass was flying up from the ground If Massar had Wings of Eagles’s commentetor, it would have been clear how incredible his win truly was

    @@thomassmith2227 I think you might find this video is for winners between the years of 2010-2019. Sea the Stars won the race in 2009. I can see your reasoning behind saying Sea the Stars was the best you saw but in saying that I've never really been overly enthused about the horse. I know he put together a supurb sequence of G1 wins but what real top class horses did he beat? Rip Van Winkle, Fame and Glory, Mastercraftsman, Conduit? He was also lucky to win the Coral Eclipse Stakes because as Rip Van Winkle was proceeding to really put the heat on in the final furlong Mick Kinane smacked him in the face with his whip and well and truly stopped the horse's momentum. In saying that his Arc win was truly out of the top drawer. And Masar was also top class before he got injured. He defeated a very talented horse in Roaring Lion and a somewhat overrated horse in Saxon Warrior in his Epsom Derby win. His win i suppose would hold up historically because of what Roaring Lion achieved later on in the season. Golden Horn was an awesome individual and right out of the top drawer especially on good ground. Not many horses would've won his Arc after drawing the carpark regarding his barrier draw. Workforce was absolutely top class too. He still holds the track and race record for 2400 metres at Epsom. He just hated Ascot for some reason and Wings of Eagles had a very good chance of being a very special animal had he not got injured after the Irish Derby. He defeated another beast in his derby by the name of Cracksman.

    Not taking anything away from Pour Moi because he was a really nice colt, but I thought Treasure Beach was awfully unlucky to have gotten beaten in the 2011 renewal literally nailed right on the wire in the final dying strides after having overtaken stablemate Memphis Tennessee and Her Majesty's Carlton House in the stretch. The same Carlton House who'd been talked about leading up to Epsom as the horse everyone had to beat to win the Derby. Treasure Beach, during his 3YO campaign at least, certainly looked the part of a legit G1 horse. Before Epsom he'd out-dueled future King George & Coral-Eclipse winner, Nathaniel, by a whisker at Chester to win the G3 Chester Vase, which in my opinion is always a great Derby trial. Then after the narrow loss to Pour Moi at Epsom, he went on to win the G1 Irish Derby, followed by a trip to the states where he won the G1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park.

    Interesting to see what you could learn about those in hindsight. 1. If an O'Brien horse wins, that may well be their career best; 2. If a Gosden horse makes the first 3, let alone win, it's probably a weapon.

  • @Dwayndibb

    @Dwayndibb

    Seems like the O'Briens horses just always stay at the end with Galileo and Saddlers Wells bloodline. Sometimes you can forget what a unique track it is so great. It throws up wonderful finishes nearly like an Aintree. Im a flat fan so thats a compliment. What your hinting at is Gosden will have 1 super horse every few years where Coolmore and Godolphin will have multiple winners basically every week. But you know W. Haggas and some others been doing good stuff. Its kind of heating up. He has a few decent horses bought from Coolmore also winning.

    I don't mind it being run at 3, but they should be honest and say it's the equivalent of a novice jumps race at christmas. It's racing 2 year olds I'd ban. That's like under 11s football. And means there are jockeys sitting on the horses as yearlings which is dreadful.
