History is made as The Queen wins the Ascot Gold Cup with Estimate - full Channel 4 reaction
History is made at the 2013 running of the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot as Estimate wins for Her Majesty The Queen making her the first reigning British monarch to ever win the race. Jockey Ryan Moore and trainer Sir Michael Stoute join The Queen as they receive one of racing’s top prizes.
This footage was aired on Channel 4 and shows the immediate aftermath of the race and the huge reaction at the racecourse.

I work in racing for 35 years she did so much for us the racing community will miss her dearly xx

I'm so,so happy that I found this amazing video.I've had tears in my eyes on and off ever since I learned that Her Majesty the Queen had passed away-seeing the grief of her family has been very hard-but to see her own horse,and a filly(!) win the Gold Cup,to see her excitement and joy,is absolutely a delight and a happy way to remember the Queen.

My god the Queen's horse almost lost it at the checkered flag! I mean she was in a vicious drag race racing to the checkered flag!

The chequered flag means something different in horse racing. For the finish we have the winning post and the finish line instead. The post is also nicknamed "The lollipop". In horse racing the chequered flag is waved by flag marshals to indicate a hazard ahead or if they need to bypass something. The yellow flag meanwhile is the stop race flag. Red and yellow flag are the recall flags if there's a false start.
The Queen wore nearly the same colour the year before this when Estimate won the Vase.

I had the third place horse. Thought I was a winner but was inside the top two late and hard to keep momentum. Nice that Andrew was there to present to the beautiful young groom also....

i don't know anything about horse racing :) can someone explain why they whip the horse? does it hurt the horse much? how does it help them to run faster? thanks.

I have just come across your reply. Whiping the horse doesn't hurt, it encourages the horse or can trigger a gear change. Also it can help the jockey keep the horse straight if it begins to wander. You will ofter see jockeys change hands with the whip for this reason. You never see whip marks on a horse, plus a jockey can only use it 6 times ( on the flat and 7 for national hunt racing ). Hope this helps.

When someone dies, you realise how much they meant to you. Our beautiful wonderful Queen, who smiling at Royal Ascot, use to light up the world, with her love for Christ.
Now if it were up to me, I'd get Estimate to pay Baaeed an early visit in his first mating season. With blessings and requisite splash of "necessary" breeding good fortune they might JUST produce a colt special enough to run in and WIN that elusive derby, "post humously" for our legendary Queen Elizabeth II. Pedigree conformation through her sire (Monsun) and alignment of galaxy indicate that even though Baaeed's sire (Sea the Stars) has not produced anything exceptional YET from two appointments with her (Estimate) his son CHAMPION BAAEED will correct that and give our country a huge lift again

Nice when money is no object and facilities to hand! - what people don't see are the horses that are killed for not winning or die during racing - cruel sport - abattoirs depended on racehorses for their bread and butter until the law said they cant go straight there - doesnt stop the abuse - royals should be ashamed they allow horses to suffer and being beaten to go faster!!
