Let's compare wearing that seat belt to how most Americans treat their bodies. Very few medical professionals speak to the obesity problems that's causes most of the health problems that lead to poor immune response. It's time to get really honest and take a self assessment of ourselves!

Hi Dee Wilkerson, I am sorry to say that there is at least one very important difference between wearing seatbelts and viral infections like this one, this difference is that this virus only have very bad effects on some people, mostly those with underlying health issues, including of course inadequate immune systems. For your comparison to stand it would have to be modified by, say, having all seatbelts set to a specific tension level so that the bodyweight of the wearer plays a part!. Since this would obviously be unacceptable the comparison in just not valid at all!. Cheers, Richard.

Richard, I was using the seat belts as an analogy. Also, individuals can still die wearing a seat belt. Let's face it, obesity can play a part in how well we survive any health challenge. BTW, I totally agree with you.

Hi Dee Wilkerson, thank you for your response, it is always very nice to engage in some sensible debate on these threads, at the time of writing I did think I was pushing things a bit, partly for the benefit of other parties, this is after al an open forum. Right from the start some medical people were making it very clear that obesity was a major factor in serious illness and a significant cause of death, one U-tube channel I found, Med-cram Medical lectures, did a very good video explaining just how obesity and Covid combine to disrupt a vital part of our metabolism leading to serious respiratory distress. More recently the CDC in the USA have published the result of studies of the case histories of hospital patients over a twelve month period and have calculated the risk factors the contribute to serious illness, obesity came top, closely followed by fear and stress, with diabetes a close third!, a hatful of other 'co-morbidities' trailed far behind!. Cheers, Richard.

Seat belts protect the wearer. If someone chooses to not wear a seat belt and they're in an accident and they're thrown from the car, so be it. But someone who doesn't wear their seat belt does NOT put the other passengers at risk. We don't ALL have to wear seat belts in order for EACH seat belt to function as it's intended. We are responsible for our own protection and it is voluntary. Those are the only two matters at issue in this particular "health" scenario. If you want to wear a seat belt, go right ahead a do so. But don't expect ME to wear a seat belt in order to protect YOU. It doesn't work that way.

Dr. Rick I appreciate your kindness, consideration, and really appreciate you not down playing the value and importance of natural immunity. As you well know there are two types of active immunity, they are natural active immunity and vaccine active immunity. Both types are recognized by the CDC and NIH on their respective websites. They both should produce an adaptive immune response. As you indicated the natural immune response is more broad with regard to the number of proteins that it reacts to. Many in the health care environment are now pushing for those who have acquired natural active immunity to receive at least 1 jab. Based on the science of how a healthy normal immune system should respond, if more antibodies are needed when the risk arises again, the B cells will ramp up production of antibodies and activate the killer t cells if needed. Thank you sir.

What I don’t understand is the almost obsession with vaccinating children rather than a targeted campaign focusing on people based on age and comorbidities. The question becomes is this all helpful in actually fighting off another infection of Covid? If the CD8 T cells that recognize the nucleocapsid aren't as good as those the recognize the spike protein, then having an overabundance of those does little to help fend off a second infection. That said, I'm hopeful that those who have already been infected have long lasting immunity. Corona viruses are notorious for sneaking back in as immunity wanes. This is why you can have the same cold multiple times over your life.

There is a small minority of people who appear to have good cross immunity from earlier exposure to similar corona virus. So there would be this small number of individuals who would be the third group, those who have not had SARS-CoV-2 and will probably never get SARS-CoV-2. What is that percentage of people is unknown since a serology survey has never been done for the US, like is done by actual epidemiologists who are actually doing what would be their duty during a pandemic. Of course in some other countries a serology survey at intervals has been done to identify what percentage of the population has antibodies. Countries where that is done actually care about what is SCIENCE, unlike the case of the US where the science is supposed to be whatever some capriciously tell people they are "directed" to believe is what science must be. Science that is self defined by politics doesn't require data and will happily make up any data it needs to support its lies.

Because its so contagious its like the difference between a bear attacking you or a pack of wolves. Add that and the slightly wild individual reactions people have to the virus just makes it a wild card. I recently had a REALLY bad time with Covid and I dipped below the 45% survival rate statistically, I had to be intubated for four days but thank God I pulled through in the end its going to take around two months for me to get back but I am making steady progress. People who have constant contact with infected people, asymptomatic and full-on sick, have tested positive for natural immunity. Their numbers for B & T cells may not be as high as someone who had a severe case, but they can still have "active immunity" due to exposure.
