Natural Gas Geyser Tutorial l Oxygen Not Included (ONI)

Need more oxygen, water, power and better food for your base?
Look for some natural gas and exploit the shit out of it!
Check out Francis John and Magnet for more ONI tutorials. They both have great videos that can help your ONI game, I just don't personally like how they handle Natural Gas Geysers especially considering how useful they can be early-mid game.

I perfer just boxing it off, it's safer in the long term than letting all that sweet sweet 150 degree heat seep into the rest of my base

7:47 You should have built the floor after you dug it out because of the Slime. Slime produces polluted oxygen and usually is infested by Slimelung germs that thrive in that polluted oxygen. The way you made it, you basically introduced a LOT of germs into your oxygen production. Sure, slimelung is not the worst thing, but if duplicant gets sick, it means -3 athletics and ocasional coughing (will cough up polluted oxygen with some extra germs).. so if you have the base infested like this, it will take a long time to get rid of it...

Watching this guy reminds me of what it felt like the first day you start playing the game. Good times. Don't worry, you will figure out the game eventually.

Only change I would make is digging out the room more circular. Put the electrolyzed open air at the near-top, gas pumps top and bottom to filter out hydrogen for generator and nat gas at bottom for a massive storage system. Lastly some deodorizers over then polluted water pit and send mostly clean air to the main base that way too!

I do not like that set up at all. It is very messy and seems inefficient. What I do is to simple make a small box around the geyser. Put in a pump made out of steel and rig some automation to it so that it notice when it starts to become a lot of gas inside the box and pump it out. The automation will also notice if the storage is full so that it will not pump if the storage is full. To have lots of gas in the pipes is not something that is good as it will spread heat all over the place. With insulated pipes it just takes longer.

Why do you keep it making natural gas and release into wild instead of building a sealed room to keep the natural gas in it? You can build doors and gas pump with vent in some liquid to output gas into a room with unlimited amounts...

Love your vid!! 1:00, the mesh tile. They delete heat just like the steam turbines. Highest water output temp is 104F. For the lols I gravity fed/swamp cooled my entire power chain with a sump pump at the bottom of the cascade. It worked better than pipes. I ran 3 plastic presses, 1 metal refinery, 1 oil refinery, 1 glass refinery, 6 natural gas generators, 4 coal generators, 3 kilns nonstop on 5000g/s. All of it was copper. The end of the loop was at 107F. The more water sensitive equipment (Coal generators/plastic press) just it up on a mesh tile with the water flowing underneath.

And no mentioning of 150c temperature of natural gas? It is fine when overall temperature is 40c in your current setup, but what do you do when it starts erupting 150c gas? Isn't everything going to overheat?

I bet his base overheated two days later. Mine doesnt even take a few minutes until it is at 150-200°

This is why you trap it and route it through a trapped cold liquid geyser, same with the oxygen production and sieve water.

Always Wall of Geysirs, so you do Not Need a Filter The Polluted water is actually Really useful by itself, I do not Filter it anymore unless no water is present

Okay so I see a lot of people doing this. Making a large area with their vent inside. I suppose this is okay, you'll only ever get that gas to 2,000g (2kg) per tile. If you enclose your geyser and pump the gas into your large chamber via high pressure vent, you can get to a pressure of 20,000g (20kg) per tile. Geyser and normal vent both have 2,000g overpressure caps. So having 2 tanks of 10t of natural gas is only 50% of 1 tile at max pressure via a high pressure vent. So, yeah. Math

Woah amazing setup, unfortunately I'm not that good at bade building which is why i don't like this game as much. It's just too complicated when you get to the midgame and everyone is just dying left and right.

Finally a set up thats not a million insulation tiles, this was great thank you. Also, doing pipes not on pause, that's brave haha.

Did you know that the geysers and other infinite resource producers were introduced because matter disappears in the game? I was against this and protested, telling them that they should find a real solution and not this cheap fix.
