"Somewhere in Arizona" has to be up in the Four Corners area. That's the only place that has those formations. It's also rural as hell and is mostly Indian Reservations. I've been up there once. (I live in the Phoenix metro area.) I've been in the El Tovar (I think it was) hotel at the Grand Canyon but I've never stayed there. If I recall correctly you have to get reservations something like six months in advance.

The look on your face when saw the park was closed was one of the most classic things I've ever seen.

The little blonde girl who played Eddie's "French kissing" daughter is actually Jane Krakowski who grew up to be a beautiful actress, from the sitcom 30Rock.

That was indeed a Apple II Computer from the 8 bit era. The Apple II was released in '77 and was a cash cow for Apple even after the 16 bit Macintosh PC was released in '84

I’ve seen this movie like 100 times. But the first like 95 times, I saw it on Comedy Central or some other TV channel, so a lot of the dirtier stuff was edited out and I had no idea. I was very happy to see the uncut version. Damn, Beverly. 😍

The song at the beginning, "Holiday Road" was by Lindsey Buckingham. He was in the band Fleetwood Mac. Another Chevy Chase movie that everyone loves is "Three Amigos!" (1986), with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase.

He went on 2 do "Sixteen Candles", "The Breakfast Club", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", " Uncle Buck", "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles", & "Home Alone" among others. ALL HUGHES R WORTH A WATCH!!! Oh, yeah! I highly recommend Mr. Mom and The Breakfast Club. PT&A was good too but some parts of it seemed forced so I can't put it on the same tier as MM and TBC.

I had to nearly disown my mother at the theater watching this movie. She was laughing so loud it was crazy.

They did have computers like that, was like a keyboard you attached to your tv but you couldn’t really do much with them. Porsche 911’s have the gas cap in one of the front fenders if the car. Dealerships don’t crush trade ins, they either put them on the used car lot or if the car is too old or in bad shape they send them to auctions. The lady in the red Ferrari is Christie Brinkley who was one of the biggest supermodels in the 80’s, she was once married to singer Billy Joel and they have a daughter together.

"Dad, you want an aspirin or something?"

1. FACT: They don't crush cars right away. They will resell them and then sell the parts. 2. My favorite part is when the ALL fall asleep in the car while it's still rolling. LOL 3. There's no way he would have gotten a parking place right in front of the "Long Branch" saloon. 4. The guy at the campground is Brian Doyle=Murry (Bill Murry's Brother) and he played Clark's boss in "Christmas Vacation". 5. He's crazy. I'd take Beverly DeAngelo over Christy Brinkley any day. 6. Who didn't love John Candy? 7. Mr. Wally was the toy store owner in Home Alone II. Do the rest of the Vacation movies. Especially Christmas Vacation.

There's a family north of Atlanta, Ga that has an EXACT reproduction of The Family Truckster. There are pictures of it on family trips they've taken. They even have that blue set of American Tourister hard side luggage The Grizwalds had. There are several other Vacation movies. You need to see them ALL. Cousin Eddy's character gets fully developed in Vegas Vacation and Christmas Vacation. Don't miss European Vacation either. They're ALL great!!

It’s a hilarious movie

I suggest you check out the movie "The Keep", directed by Michael Mann, starring Ian McKellan, Alberta Watson, Scott Glenn and an few other faces you might recognize. It's a SiFi horror that takes place during the second WW. If you can't get that movie then I suggest the very first movie director George Lucas directed which was, "THX 1138", and I believe it was his best movie despite all those Star Wars fans of his, objecting.

A lot of John Hughes movies(vacation,included), first appeared as stories, in the magazine, National Lampoon; in the 70s and early 80s. The magazine versions, were super raunchy; and also hilarious. Love all the movie versions also.

My favorite of all the Vacation movies is VEGAS VACATION (1997). Cousin Eddie in that one is at his funniest and looniest ever! Definitely see the other Vacation movies before you see that one. Heads up: in each of the movies, the two kids are always played by different actors. It’s kind of a running joke.

"The dog wet on the picnic basket." One of the best lines in funny movie cinema history.

24:05 E.O.: "Hey man, look, there has to be a special place in Hell for people who will leave somebody's dead mother in their backyard in the rain tied to a lawn chair. Like... that's a whole 'nother level of savage." Look, E. I love Chevy Chase. He's my favorite comedic actor. Especially in the Fletch movies. And I don't ride roller coasters anymore or any other rides. We ha have a week long thing in my town called the Expo and when I was in school my friend said they hired him to help put the rides together. He told me they said just put every other bolt in the rides because we're taking them down at the end of the week. After hearing that, I decided I would just eat popcorn and corn dogs and listen to the band.

4:45 JL, our first computer (a Commodore VIC 20) had a cassette deck as a peripheral as opposed to a floppy or CD-ROM. Like, an actual cassette tape. Stick-in-the-Walkman-by-accident cassette. 🤣

Yes, that's really a computer! It looks like an original Apple II, which was the basis of most of the computers in schools during the 1980s and into the 1990s. I own an Apple IIe, which is based on and looks a lot like the one in this movie. It seems that the film crew added some extra colored keys to the computer, though, just to make it look more "interesting", I suppose. Next to it, with the red label, is an Apple Disk II 5.25" floppy disk drive, and next to that is a Bally Astrocade, which is sometimes self-described as a computer, although it's really just a video game console. Ah, more early computer nostalgia after seeing the Commodore 64 (the C version with the slicker case than the original) and its disk drive in _The Princess Bride_ . If you've ever seen the show _Lost_ , there is an Apple II series computer like this one that appears at the beginning of season 2. Many early computers had the keyboard built into the main unit, with the disk drives and monitors separate. Then they separated the keyboard and sometimes put the main unit and monitor together. Lately, they've been toying with building the main unit into the keyboard like before.

All of these movies make me laugh... Christmas and European vacation movies are great too.. Worth watching..

I was 14 years old when i saw Vacation when it originally came out in the movie theaters in 1983. Saw it with my then best friend, a fellow fanatic about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week, for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s. (And after seeing our movie, we'd retreat back to his place to watch even more movies airing on his living room tv). There was no particular reason we went to see Vacation. We tried to see as many of the new movies coming out as we possibly could regardless of the genre (he loved horror movies, i preferred comedies), plot, critics reviews, or who starred in it. And Vacation just happened to be one of the new movies that just came out. Going to the movies in the 1970s-1980s with my best friend is among my most fondest, happiest memories of not only my childhood, but of my entire life

Oh man I just took my almost 50 year old wife to Orlando studios and she love the roller coasters. I get you ain't about it but we crazy in Florida
