Y’all are gonna hate me but my two favorites are this and European vacation. Christmas vacation is great but I kinda have a resentment towards it only because that the one everyone knows and talks about and most people especially in my age group don’t Ben know about the other ones and that it was actually the third in a series and I think the first two are funnier

My family drove to Disneyland in '68. Dad got lost in the wrong part of LA. He didn't stop though. There had been riots earlier that month (Aug). Dad ran red lights to get out, I guess reasoning that a ticket was worth the price to meet the police.

My family saw this in the theater while we were on vacation in 1983. We thought, “Hey, a movie about a family on vacation and we’re a family on vacation, it’s perfect!” I was 10 and I had three younger sisters. I think my parents were a little uncomfortable for a few scenes, especially my dad because he was a LOT like Clark in many ways.

They also know there is a newer one without Chevy Chase as the lead. My reply was the other two movies, that Chevy Chase was in. People are not seeming to get that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- European Vacation is the other good one. And, then there is the Las Vegas one. He was also the owner of the Chicago Cubs in the movie 'Rookie of the Year' and the was the owner of the Duncan's Toy Chest (the toy store based on the famous NYC toy store FAO Schwarz) in 'Home Alone 2: Lost in NY'. @@Aeroldoth3 in Phoenix, pool temps in July and August are typically in the low 90s (not exaggerating) The reason that the hotel pool was cold was because that hotel was actually in suburban Los Angeles (specifically Norwalk). It is actually impossible to have a cold pool in the low desert in the summer, Phoenix doesn't drop below 80°F at night for most of the summer

Yess! I love vacation! The running joke is that they have different actors for audrey and russ but the adult actors stay the same. I'm not the biggest fan of European vacation, but my absolute favorite is Vegas Vacation. We always called my dad Clark when on car trips 🤣.

With the Vacation reboot sequel I hope they could continue the traditional joke with Rusty’s sons being recasted. If they continue the film that is.

That only happened because Anthony Michael Hall was filming Wierd Science during production of European Vacation, Dana Barron was totally up for playing Audrey again, but they didn't want to have her come back, but a new actor for Rusty, so they decided to recast both

The red-headed mechanic was a famous drummer back in the 1960's and 1970's. Mickey Jones. You can see him playing drums in the old music video recorded for The First Edition with Kenny Rogers doing their song "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)". Also played drums for Bob Dylan, Trini Lopez, and Johnny Rivers.

In the original ending, shown only at screenings, after learning the park is closed, they go to Wallys house and hold him hostage, never getting inside the park. Audiences stopped laughing by the end. So Ramis reshot the new ending you now see. It was done a few months later which is why Micheal Anthony Hall is taller in the ending. Dana Barron (Audrey) looks pale and quiet because as she told it, the reshot was done an a scorching hot day. They had to flim all the rides several times as well as that run to get everything right. It made her very sick which is why you don't see Audrey say or do much in the end.

There's an older movie with Chevy Chase - Jane Seymour called Oh Heavenly Dog. It's great. Always loved that movie. Also there's a movie with Martin Short - Nick Nolte called "The 3 Fugitives" Love that movie too. Not a Chevy Chase movie, but it is comedic. Also the movie Captain Tom with Martin Short, Kurt Russell, &ary Kay Place. And of course the movie Splash with Tom Hanks, John Candy, & Daryl Hannah. 👍

Great reaction, you two !!! Yeah, they might have used Six Flags in the movie (IDK, you are more familiar than me with the 1 in CA), but the name they used was actually referring to Disneyland (i.e. Wally World = Wally (for Walt) + [Disney] World). I think they did that so neither park could sue them.

You have to keep in mind that this movie came out when the majority of the original members of Saturday Night Live were still going strong in films, and that SCTV was just getting started, and this was the first (or second -- Mr. Mom may be the first) movie that John Hughes wrote, so this was just comedy gold.

Remember though, SCTV started only a year after SNL in 76. It just seems longer because SCTV took a few extra years to show up in the states on NBC. Ramis, Candy and Levy did a few smaller Canadian comedy films before they crossed the border.
