Uncle Buck (1989) Husband's First Time Watching! Movie Reaction!

Фильм және анимация

Uncle Buck (1989)
I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you!

He does not get enough credit for his overall acting skill. I watch “JFK” from time to time just for his role. I think he outshines the entire all star cast that includes Costner, Pesci, Sutherland, Tommy Lee Jones, Ed Asner, Gary Oldman, Kevin Bacon, Jack Lemmon, etc

@@nealm6764 My sarcasm detector is going crazy for some reason... This sort of natural acting from non-actors is not unheard of. Sometimes it's on purpose, like in this case, and sometimes it's a happy accident like when Dustin Hoffman yells "Hey, I'm walking here!" in Midnight Cowboy to the cabby who was not supposed to be there (the street was blocked off for filming but somehow this cabby squeaked through). The cabbie's actions and reaction is real. And that kid would not be the first kid who did a movie and then never did another one. The scrap heaps of Hollywood are littered with them.

Also a great thing about John Candy is every story people tell about him is that he was basically like his character in this film. I think it was Eugene Levy telling a story when he had broken his leg and called John to pick him up from the hospital. He basically came in with the, "Geez, ya big clutz, come on you," and then carried him to the wheelchair. He started on SCTV (basically Canadian SNL) and SNL tried to get him to go to their show a bunch of times, but he refused out of loyalty to the people and show he started with. Classy guy.

The funniest conversation I have listened to in a movie: Miles: Where do you live? Buck: In the city. Miles: Do you have a house? Buck: Apartment. Miles: Own or rent? Buck: Rent. Miles: What do you do for a living? Buck: Lots of things. Miles: Where's your office? Buck: I don't have one. Miles: How come? Buck: I don't need one. Miles: Where's your wife? Buck: Don't have one. Miles: How come? Buck: It's a long story. Miles: Do you have kids? Buck: No I don't. Miles: How come? Buck: It's an even longer story. Miles: Are you my dad's brother? Buck: What's your record of consecutive questions asked? Miles: Thirty-eight. Buck: I'm your dad's brother, alright. Miles: You have much more hair on your nose than my dad. Buck: How nice of you to notice. Miles: I'm a kid. That's my job.

Hahaha before I even start this reaction I wanna say I love the 'mirror effect' you guys did this time where you two switched the script and SAM did the intro and asked the questions. Hehe TBR actually nailed Sam's signature Hello Wave. Don't know if you guys have done that before, but first time I've seen it, haha. I loved it. Ok, now back to the reaction😆

If only we had John Candy still with us....just imagine how many more priceless gems of side splitting laughter he would have given the world and the world needs more laughter and less sadness and hate that we have an unfathomable amount of and not nearly enough of the humor and good memories that we truly need in our lives.

Yeah, here's the rule. From now on, if Samantha's seen this first, she gets to say all the things her husband says at the start and end. During the reaction of Kindergarten Cop (1990), she didn't get to say the part in the opening, because I suspect it was a new thing in the TBR Schmitt tradition: for the first time, the two were reacting to something Samantha had seen first. Samantha just got to say the "all right, that was (the movie)" part. And the, "links in the description part." Now that we've reached Part 2 of this "Husband's First Time Watching" franchise, it's time to invent a new part of the tradition. If you haven't made a playlist of this, I'd recommend it. If you have, then you don't need to do anything about that.

Another great movie is Only the Lonely. It is my favorite John Candy movie along with Uncle Buck. It also features Maureen O'Hara, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Quinn and John Belushi. If you watch some press they did for Only the Lonely Maureen O'Hara was clearly enamored with John Candy who was completely embarrassed by her praise of his performance. It was really kind of touching.

Geez, Samantha, let the poor guy get his own name out! I'm just playing. This is a terrific John Candy movie. Maybe the quintessential John Candy movie, and Macauley Culkin's first big break. I also remember him from the Disney cartoon The Rescuers Down Under, the sequel to The Rescuers that I used to listen to on vinyl back when I was a kid, as Wilbur, brother of Orville, an Albatross. Both excellent movies. I believe the 2nd movie is the first full length, CGI 2D movie. It actually looks pretty stunning. Sadly, they went 3D with Toy Story and never looked back.

Buck's girlfriend as you noted was in Field of Dreams, also that youngest daughter in the film was also in field of dreams, she was the little girl that choked on the hot dog.
