We did this on long journeys in our parents’ car when we were kids. There was no internet, no smartphones, no computers. And now people say the internet gets its sh.. together 😀 I don’t want to criticize the statement, just find it funny how the world re-invents pre-Internet traditions. And yes it brings joy. Even more if you do it at home with your friends and family and don’t let criminal government jerks allow to micromanage your live. Never use fck... til tok though.

Just saying, the GME thing is bringing people together to realize that the powers at be are only interested in stealing from us. The return of Sea Shanty's thanks to Nathan Evans is bringing us together for creative reasons.

What's so fascinating about this to me is the range of _history_ it brings. Melodies hundreds of years old brought through 19th-century techniques of symphonic harmony, and then into the 21st century with electronic rhythm, backing and dance. Just this epic sweep of a musical journey. 🤯

I sing these songs at faires, I have listened to them for years. I would never, EVER, have predicted they make a comeback. But, I guess in the times, the songs of isolation and survival and togetherness make sense. This is exactly what a shanty is. To hear the harmony of these people, to see strangers come together and sing a song and... man I just wanna cry it's so beautiful to me.

I haven’t made the time to google it today as I know it’ll turn into one of those information rabbit holes for me. I’m kind of guessing it means a bass range, which he’s definitely got. The thing with his sound in particular, it’s smooth like butter. Often the sound of tenor/bass/baritone voices otherwise grate and make my eardrums reverberate too much.
