I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this. Although Nathan's disaster in the SP in Pyeongchang in 2018 was far more devastating than Hanyu's missed quad sal in his Beijing 2022 SP, it's VERY interesting how their positions were reversed at those two Olympics. Each one made mistakes in the SP that ultimately saw him finishing off the podium, watching the other win gold. What's interesting about this is that Nathan's 5th place finish in Pyeongchang in 2018 still BEATS Hanyu's 4th place finish in Beijing and was SO good it would have taken the bronze medal in Beijing! That's how awesome Nathan is.

Para nada. Nadie supera a Yuzuru.

@@lgsanz318I agree, Yuzuru is very beautiful in all aspects, he has an incomparable asymmetry and body proportion, here unfortunately it was not his best, but he is a human being after all, he has already won everything in this sport and remains the GOAT of skating and nothing beats his visionary talent. I feel sorry for Americans who get trapped in their own nationalist ego to exalt one and diminish the other, sad

@@melzinha6266 this comment makes absolutely no sense. Don’t bash Americans because one beat your favorite skater. Yuzaru was the best skater in 2014 and 2018. Nathan was the best in 2022. That being said Yuzaru has his own persona. He has his own style and a lot of beautiful unique aspects to his skating, but he came up against a technical juggernaut who happened to be five years younger than him. This is a sport and he got beat on the technical side, badly. Moreover his programs are lovely, but they’re either a rock ‘n’ roll theme short program or some ethereal themed long program he doesn’t have a lot of variety. So saying that he’s this great artistic skater is a push. He reused his programs more than any other top competitor over the last decade. Michelle Kwan was a lot like Yuzaru in terms of the mania she stoked with her fandom, except she changed her music and themes every year. She only reused two programs in her entire career, which was as long if not longer than his. Why he gets a pass on that I don’t know.
