Natalie Elphicke took very difficult step to join Labour, says Keir Starmer

The Labour party should be 'less tribal' and be open to 'reasonably minded people, whichever way they voted in the past', Keir Starmer has said.
Subscribe to Guardian News on KZread ► bit.ly/guardianwiressub
He welcomed Labour’s newest MP, Natalie Elphicke, at a speech in Dover and said her defection was proof that the party was building a broad range of support. Starmer was speaking in Elphicke's constituency and was asked where he would draw the line with rightwing politicians and whether he would welcome Nigel Farage into Labour. He said he wanted to 'bring as many people with us as possible' but added that Farage was 'the last person who would want to join this Labour party'.

Couldn't be more symbolic of how little this man stands for. Since he got into power, his policy has been beating the Tories, and I think when you lack any charisma to such an abysmal degree as he does, you'll take whatever you can get, even if it is a Tory MP who has a voting record which is miles away from labour. She could've left that party at any point over the past few years, yet she chose right now when the ship was about to sink and it didn't even matter. I'm feeling a sense of apathy like never before at the moment. The Tories are the weakest they've been for a long long time, and it could've been perfect, yet we are left with this soulless, boring human.
