Nat King Cole - Sweet Lorraine
Музыка
Just found joy
I'm as happy as a baby boy,
With another brand new choo-choo choy
When I met my sweet Lorraine, Lorraine, Lorraine.
She's got a pair of eyes
That are brighter tham the summer sky
When you see them, you'll realize
Why I love my sweet Lorraine.
Now when it's rainin',
I don't miss the sun
Because it's in my baby's smile, whoa ho
And to think that I'm the lucky one
That will lead her down the aisle, whoa ho ho
Each night I pray
That no one will steal her heart away
I can't wait until that lucky day
When I marry sweet Lorraine.
Now when it's rainin'
I don't miss the sun
Because it's in my baby's smile, whoa ho
And to think that I'm the lucky one
That will lead her down the aisle, whoa ho ho
Each night I pray
That no one will steal her heart away
I can't wait until that lucky day
When I marry sweet Lorraine.
Now when it's rainin'
I don't miss the sun
Because it's in my baby's smile, whoa ho
And to think that I'm the lucky one
That will lead her down the aisle, whoa ho ho
Each night I pray
That no one will steal her heart away
I can't wait until that lucky day
When I marry sweet Lorraine.

I lost my Sweet Lorraine after 46 years. Heartbroken.
My dad sang this to me when I was a toddler....he would only change one word...from 'marry sweet Lorraine' to 'carry sweet Lorraine' -- because he would carry me around the house to get me to fall asleep. RIP Nat King Cole and dad...

My mom and dad named me after this song so I feel truly blessed because they spelled my name exactly as it is in the song. I thank God for Nat King Cole a great singer and my great parents.

Me too!! My grandma named me after this song and would sing it to me
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. It was my grandmas favorite. I remember listening to it on her record player with her. I miss her so much and it makes me happy to hear this. ❤
I played this for my grandma Lorraine at her nursing home because a long time ago she was a bar tender and her boss would play this for her on the piano every time she would serve people drinks😌

My 'Sweet Lorraine', my sister , and I, shared this World for over three-quarter's of a Century together. She recently passed and is now with all those loved ones who made us who we are. Our Mom was one of ten Brothers and Sisters and Grandma was still alive. I was the first Grandchild.. once all were married, I had twenty Mom and Dads, All are gone and Sister Lorraine was last tie to a World of Love & Caring.. miss her so!.
I've just heard this song played on the "repair shop". Ironically, my woodwork teacher uses to sing it to me; a bit embarrassed but special there exists a song with my name in it being the subject!! Beautiful song.

Beautiful song. My Dad always sang it to me, because we were a very musical family. Anyway, I know he's in heaven still singing and I believe he's going to be singing this tune again for your "Sweet Lorraine" . Love Nat King Cole!

To everyone that loves this song I wish I could have met Nat King Cole. That is some treasure this world had. This world was lucky to have heard his music and his heart. He was a man of soul.
Best jazz intro as far as I'm concerned.

even if for chronological reasons it's absurd, it sounds like he's quoting Stolen moments. I wonder if there's the possibility that Oliver Nelson was inspired by this introduction.
When Nat first began singing, crowds booooeed. Up until that point he was known for his very progressive and tasteful jazz recordings, on which he played piano. The boo birds came out one night and Cole, flustered, left the stage in a huff and told Quincy Jones (yes, THAT Quincy Jones) to tell the band to play some incidental music while he composed himself. Quincy said something to the effect of, "Nat, go out there and play "Sweet Lorraine" with just the rhythm section, don't sing, just play. Then, sing on the next number." Cole, somewhat skeptical did as Jones advised and the crowd went nuts!

First time hearing this love it that was my Mom's name.
Merci "Luar Furyado"🌺 pour cet ajout Jazz so Jazz des Cliff Burwell, Mitchell Parish, interprété par le sweet Nat King Cole 💖♪ ♫ 🎸🎷 🎻🎹🎺🌺🎧🎼🎩🎩🎩
I grew up listening to Nat Cole (Mum & Dads favourite) and I’ve always shared their love of his particular jazz style. Still makes me think of my childhood.
Un matrimonio di Pupi Avati splendida fiction
My Chi-town hero. I was in Grade School when he passed and it still seems strange. Something wonderful though....years later I graduated from his same High School and he was also a resident of my community and was the Classmate of John H. Johnson, Founder and Published of Ebony/Jet. I loved Mr. Cole, especially when he had a 15 minute (would you believe 15 minutes) show on Television. All the family would gather around the TV. What a man. :)
My mom had this Nat King Cole famous song and used to play it for me. I was named after an actress named Lorraine Day.
Simply the best. I love this version, his voice, personality, poise, piano style, ensemble. He had it all.
My mother used to play the Johnny Mathis version when I was probably 4. It was my favorite song. At that age I was called Rainy
Beautiful song that my dad named me after....Lorayne.
a nice voice dear nat king cole, a legand of music
Reminds me of my Dad and his Jazz LPs. Good Times.
WUAB-TV Lorain/Cleveland would play this at Sign On way back when!
This is so beautiful
I’m from Lorraine and I love this song !
There are two moons in the sky.
Magic
Thanks for this rendition of Sweet Lorraine with Nat King Cole doing the singing. There is at least one other version of that tune available on KZread in which he does the singing. You have provided the best of the two I think. My attention was called to Nat King Cole singing Sweet Lorraine while I was reading a Japanese novel; that book is 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. KZread offers a 1946 recording [Metronome All Stars] of the tune with Frank Sinatra singing and Nat King Cole playing piano.
Love it!
I love that song.
this guy's got IT in his DNA
Great tune. Great rendition.
I play this every wedding anniversary when i left the house on are wedding day i played it to her for the first time 36 years ago

Hey fellow Lorraine!
All singers have some appeal to me. But there is a certain quality to Cole's voice and style that's most compelling. I started enjoying Cole when he was still with his trio in the early 40's. There's nothing in his repertoire that I do not enjoy.
