Love tht song 🎵 💕
I was bartender on an Amsterdam- Paris train in the '90's. The barcar had it's own music-installation which we were not allowed to use on a regular train. Only on holidaytrains etc. But we did ! I was just discovering the old American Swing and Big Bands at that time. I was in my 40's , it was the music we heard on TV in Holland in old movies and shows. Glenn Miller, Dorsey Brothers etc.( Chattannooga Choo Choo goes very well while travelling in a train, specialy the longer filmversion ! ) A train-conductor on that train played in a band himself and was a great fan of Nat King Cole. He recorded a tape for me with rare music from Nat King Cole recorded in a club somewhere, which I ofcourse played ! Specially in offseasons ,early dark outside on the return-journey , not too busy, people would sit down , have a drink and have a chat . Often about this music, once in a while older Americans would come up to me asking "where did you get this tape ???" , because they never heard these not-officialy recorded songs before . Great to see and hear this far too short clip !
Wow, in 1955 I was 2, and remember my father and other African American men often singing , "Straighten up and fly right...." . I did not understand the true meaning of this song when I was young. Yet, today watching this video I know exactly what Mr King and my dad were saying to me and the world. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge Mr King for this hymn, and this prayer!
So sad that he died so so young. Such a talented artist and performer.
Wonderful! The Best Male Vocalist Ever! It is so nice to see the biography of Mr. Nat Cole! Thank You! God Bless You! 😃
This man had 'Class.' Sure miss him.
Oh man... everytime I see and listen Nat King Cole - and that's very often - I smile from ear to ear
Nat and Duke were the classiest musicians of their times. And Nat was fine as wine!!

Such a sweet, smooth voice. I have loved him since I was a little kid. Still love him as an old woman!

Such a beautiful voice! Melts like butter!
Wow. I'm sixty six. I love this guy's voice. When I was a kid I wanted a voice like his. I was working on an animation of "Straighten Up and Fly Right!" but I lost my animation software and could never finish it. Thank you reelblack.
This film is just too short. I so wish it was longer cause I could watch him all day. He died at such a young age. Love and always will love Nate King Cole. Thanks for uploading.

The greatest vocalist and musician of all time! Thank God that he gave us this amazing talent!♥️
It's always good to come across something I've never seen before. Especially one of my favorite vocalist and pianist. I still listen to his music and videos of him. He was a phenomenal artist.
Calling a grown man "boy!" The level of disrespect my people have had to put up with is unbelievable. 🥀R.I.P Nat King Cole🥀

One of the greatest musician's, for sure singers, business men, and me in general. Mr. Nathaniel Adams Cole better known to the world as Nat "King" Cole.
If Nat was still alive today he'd be 100 years old. #GoneTooSoon
He has an amazing voice. Seeing these classic films really gives me a new found appreciation for the people of the past and the foundations they have laid for us in the arts and other areas. I wouldn’t trade my time for there’s but I definitely wouldn’t mind visiting the past.
The black and African man can create anything out of nothing. All we need is to look in our inner self and do for our self. We make this people rich while they exploit our talent for their currency hungry testing. Here in South Africa they also do same. West Africa is now fighting harder to understand what is going on in the diaspora. Love and miss from your brother and one day we all shall unite as one body and one nation. Thanks for the upload my brother in the diaspora.

The Capital Records Company in Hollywood is known as "The House That Nate Built." Understand and believe, America has designed "mainstream" with a high price for entry and survival. Nate and others during a period of no civil rights in America, showed true grit. These kinds of relationships with European American power brokers, led to huge gains later for hundreds. America has always forced us to pay more dues to reach the same successes, then we take over.
@suem6004

The Race Analyst, PHD Proving Hate & Degradation No such thing as European Power Brokers. Business is business. Instead of criticizing risk taking entrepreneurs, put your money with your mouth is and you pay musicians and produce and sell their music. If no industry there would be zero records. Nat would have merely been a local not a national nor international talent. Barry Gordy did the same. And now virtually no music is being produced of newcomers. Music has died.

No one is forcing you to make music through the system. Get a youtube channel and have at it. But do not expect music business to produce and work for free.

@@suem6004 Maintaining a lack of comprehension throughout a relatively succinct array of sentences, that produced an insider's glimpse, and factual disect of Capitol Records...does not an arguement make. Your unloading of unattached topics and hyperbole/conjecture...one of the pitfalls of online chatter. Lessons: Nate thrived amid a vulturous industry, during the 50's, "run by Europeans" during "Jim Crow." Free enterprise is ideally color free (i.e. cross-over music and audience univer$iality)...but America is not historically free enterprise system. - To deny "European Power Brokers" is to be in denial of capatalism itself. Your deny of that reality on KZread...an international online platform, is case study worthy. Focus...facts...no emotion, no social agenda and attempts to be politically correct in a nation of deep pathology. Your suggest that a talented yet socio-economically deprived people, based on their cast/complexion be independent of an industry that copied and gained from their originality...obviously not the choice...sounds good, but stuff of fairy tales, now beyond the tipping point. I love this. Thank God talent and creativity outshine prejudice and racism. You could say music and record producers can smell money, even black money, but I'd like to believe that there are mechanisms all around us to bring our light to fruition, whether those mechanisms are destructive or serve the common good.
