NASCAR THUNDER 2004 PS1 still 9.5/10 game.

The spotter when he's angry is hilarious.

Mirrors exists in racing games pretty much since the early 90's. Dos-based Papyrus' games, even if in a basic form, had it. Some SNES/MD games had it. Trashnigtion 21 is the only racing game in the world since then where this is a problem.

The mirror not being added outside of cockpit view I believe was supposed to be part of the 'immersion', with it being a sim game and all. As for the physics of this so-called sim, yeah; we won't go there.

I recall Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge on the NES having a mirror as well

Crazy how different the Ps1 gameplay is compared to PS2. Thats what made the PS2 & Ps3 so special because back then you could actually see the improvements in new consoles from their predecessor

Agree. NASCAR 21 IGNITION sadly never learned about their mistakes and removed all of those pit animations.

Bro played a copy paste of NASCAR 2001 for PSX.

My dad had nascar Thunder 2003 on the ps1 slim and introduced me to it when I was like 5. Was my first video game I ever played, so it got me into video games, and got me REALLY into NASCAR. Ps1 NASCAR Thunder was some good times 👌🏼 Edit: also I love his freak out about the adding fuel feature lol. Another thing I thought was cool was whenever you had a yellow, you would ride out the entirety of the yellow since the ps1 can’t like…transition to a different spot of the race or skip to a cutscene or anything like the current Heat games. So you’d get to ride around until your crew chief would tell you you’re going back green and you’d get locked back in. Really cool stuff!

FIFA PS1 games from 2001 to 2005 also allow players to high tackle players without the ball by pressing triangle button. Man funny times! I even got 28 yellow cards and all 9 RED CARDS. YES. 9. RED. CARDS (4 from CPU & All 5 for the Player Team) in a single match alone! 😂

Awesome gameplay, and here's a tip for you during potential future gameplays, in the challenge mode, when you select the challenge, press the X button and it will give you the description of the challenge. This also applies to the driver select and the track select as well.

i think u unlock Boca Chica by completing the Fantasy tracks in Season mode. At least thats how it was in NT2003 on ps1

Nascar 98 with paintballs is still the most fun I've had on a Nascar game when I'm not trying to actually race

@@polycube868Sorry for the late reply but the Devils canyon in the PlayStation versions are not the same Devils Canyon on the PlayStation was located in Dead Horse Point, Utah, while the PS2 one is located in Mesa, Arizona and has a different layout

I still have a copy for the PS1 version of NASCAR THUNDER 2004! Man both PS1 & 2 versions of NT2004 are GOATED!

The menus look just like NASCAR 2001... Like it almost looks like a 2001 copy and paste, even though 2001 was way better looking.

Honestly, being able to control how much fuel you put in the car should come back, that way if you need a specific amount of fuel you can put it in to the exact amount, and not waste a second more time if you just need like 1 or 2 more laps worth off of a splash.

Nascar 2000 PC version had 6 fantasy tracks one of them like this NY style track without the buildings, North Dakota was the best with crazy elevations.

In addition to this game, EA Sports also made Madden, NBA Live & FIFA (now EA Sports FC) for the PS1 that year. That year's FIFA game on the PS1 was actually good like this though there were only 8 leagues & 16 national teams & there's a glitch where you score an own goal if you try to pass the ball back to the keeper.

It’s about ram and gpu. Which I found strange about NASCAR 2001, where you can only like 20 drivers max per race but the game runs so smoothly

Funnily enough NT2002-2004 on PS1 is based on NASCAR 2001 code/engine.

You turned the downforce all the way down, then wondered why you couldn't hold the throttle through the turn lol

The models on the cars are outdated the chevy and dodge have the 2002 models instead of the 2003 ones

License was ending, can't fault them for not putting all their effort into this final installment. It's just bloody embarrassing this game has more features and has a better physics model than the new generation of Nascar games. I just don't understand why it is so neglected. It's one of the biggest motorsport in the US. Being British, Nascar and Indy car are the main motorsports we hear about from the US, so it is mind boggling at just how neglected they are.

I still have this! Great one.

Absolutely SAD that this game, on a console from 1995, nearly 30 years ago, has so many more features than modern NASCAR games. Good on EA team for this final send off on the PS1.

This game was basically my life at the end of the PS1 lifecycle especially as my deadbeat mom refused to get a memory card growing up and that slag inevitably pawned off the PS1 I grew up with. Thank god for emulation.

I feel like when it comes to 04 the ps1 version is better since its just 03 with new paint and some improvements while the PS2 version was more graphically improved, i feel like 04 on the PS1 was one of the best Nascar games ever made

It's just bloody embarrassing that this game has more features and has a better physics model than the new generation of Nascar games. I just don't understand why it is so neglected. It's one of the biggest motorsport in the US. Being British, Nascar, and Indy car are the main motorsports we hear about from the US, so it is mind-boggling at just how neglected they are. It isn't right that we have to rely on Forza for Nascar and Indy cars that aren't terrible and ridiculously acrade boxy feeling for consoles. I hope the new FM adds a tonne more to these motorsport as they are seriously neglected on consoles. I don't even know if there is an Indy car game for consoles. I've never seen one, I assume it is just as dead as Nascar games. It's a damn shame, IRacing is the only place taking it seriously, but it passes by console players.
