We run in the prototype class which means anything is allowed regarding engine size, power and weight of the vehicle so long as it conforms to strict MSUK or FIA safety regulations. 1:25 Vitara, maybe? 2:27 The lights seem to be Citroen ZX? 2:51 The middle part seems may have been a 205, maybe? 3:08 MG Metro 6R4! 5:36 Renault Clio! 6:55 Those are the rear lights of an Elise! I would say most of the cars are what we called "a buggy" in the 90s: self made vehicles to race off road. And I need to think about Jean-Louis Schlesser, of which the most famous car was the Schlesser Original. He won "the Dakar" in 1999 and 2000.

    I didn't know this existed, but I like it very much. The cars look like those used in Rally Dakar. I also love the variety. Different engines, different bodies, etc. I'd live to compete in that. But the builds look EXPENSIVE!

  • @Grez6232
    @Grez6232Ай бұрын

    Because most of the cars aren't road legal, BXCC events take place on a single stage. Each competitor has to complete a certain number of runs (usually 10 or 12) over 2 days.

  • @Grez6232
    @Grez6232Ай бұрын

    There are 9 classes (I think) in the BXCC. They're based on the level of modification from standard. The top class is for bespoke prototypes. Some classes are split between beam axles and independent suspension.

    The car @ 5:32 was a heavily modified renault clio (second generation 1998-2004 as I'm not sure if it is phase 1 or phase 2 of the second generation) This is the car after which you started searching the web for answers on the cars, so I thought I provided as much as I can. I used to has a second gen clio like that (well not a heavily modified one like in the video) as my first car. It was a super nimble and peppy car as it weighs super little around 2000 lbs and had a good engine in it. Only thing was that I fixed it to a useable state after a friend of mine had an accident with it, meaning there was a lot of wind coming into the cabin from the passenger side door as it was severely malformed. This caused the whole car to vibrate a LOT while on the highway 😅 It was a super fun car though. And I got it for free because I fixed it in multiple places. Best part was that I didn't expect to get it donated to me, but they just gave it after a while out of thanks.

    The car at 3.14 is a 6R4 it was a souped up Mini Metro. This car was out in the 80s (group B series) but group B cars were banned mid 86 season due to a number of fatalities with drivers and spectators. The car was built around a model that your granny would feel comfortable driving into town.

    I’m not completely up to date with the British champ regs, but the ones local to me run these classes: Stock, Mod 1 (cut body shells, different engine), Mod 2 (same as Mod 1, but can change engine placement and use more purpose built parts), and Proto (fully custom built, not based on road cars underneath). Then you’ve got your engine size classes within those divisions
