Growing up I had ESPN Ultimate Nascar on DVD, and every time you loaded it up it would play a trailer for Nascar 08. It made me want the game so bad, but I only had an original Xbox at the time so I couldn't play it and stuck with Thunder 04, 05, and 06. Eventually my parents bought an Xbox 360 for Christmas along with Halo 3 and Nascar 09, which was enough to satisfy me for the time being. A few months later I found Nascar 08 while at GameStop so I got really excited and bought it. I took it home, loaded it up and I couldn't even make it a full lap at Daytona without crashing. 9 year old me was super upset. I think I only ever played it for like a maximum of 20 minutes. It's been sitting in my drawer ever since.

I remember being so excited because this was the first game on the 360. Devastated

I hated how on the most difficult mode I'd be leading by like 2 seconds at Talladega with no draft

My favorite thing to do in these games was go full throttle into the inside walls at the plate tracks, hitting with the left front that way always sent you flipping into outer space. Exactly like at 9:54, except at 180 miles an hour

I remember this game being A LOT easier than what it is now that i've revisited it. I remember being INCREDIBLY upset that there were no COT manufactures in the game, such a dissapointment.

I literally play this game just to crash in the most hilarious ways possible. Like yesterday when I crashed into the inside wall at Daytona with JJ Yeley. I sent him tumbling and the car just started bouncing everywhere

@@theoriginalshew You're just overexaggerating. Don't get me wrong, Ignition is still shit, but even then I find 08 HD to be more unplayable and the career mode much worse than Ignition's.

When I was a kid, I attempted "the Chase" mode. It's a huge grind, and most of it isn't even fun. As I got finished with collecting all of my licenses and cars to actually run a full season, my save got deleted and I lost all my progress. After that, I decided I wouldn't touch this game again.

Last couple videos, the video quality is unavailable. Idk why

Considering it's built on a modified iRacing engine (or so I heard), then it's no wonder the driving felt so slippery/unstable. I find it hilarious they even made the cars top-heavy to the point you can easily roll over in a short track.

This trash was based in the ISI Gmotor engine for the physics, ISI used to make games for EA.. the same engine behind the original rFactor, not iRacing. Every nascar based game in this engine is garbage.

I remember playing Nascar 08 and Nascar 09 as a kid and enjoyed it, looking back, I don't know how I liked both of the games.

Would be cool if the modding community got onto this or nascar 09

I brought this game out again a month or so ago. I played the ps2 version a lot, got 08 years later on 360, have tried a few times over the years to get into it, can't even do a lap. With how bad ignition is, went back again thinking it couldn't be worse. I think it is, I'd honestly rather play ignition because I can actually drive a lap. On 08 I can't drive a lap, and that's unacceptable.

My Nascar 08 experience, oh man. I was so hyped for this game after upgrading to Xbox 360 and not getting Nascar 07. I called every Blockbuster in the area on release day and finally found one, only to realize it was terrible and uncontrollable. Glad I only spent $5 instead of $60.

I remember being excited for how the graphics looked but gameplay wise it was so unbelievably frustrating to drive. The physics sucked and the racing was boring

Oh the memories. The horrible, horrible memories lol. I remember how badly the cars drove. How the damage model made my car feel like it was made of foil, how the AI seemed to ignore me and literally try to drive thru me. The black flags. The lack of manufacturers on the CoT. This is by far my least favorite NASCAR game.. or at least close to it

Old car gen 4, game was based on 2007 roster ie new Toyotas, and cot. Honestly would rather see a series on custom textures on PS2 version. Bought the PS2 version when it came out at toys r us of all places! Love this game in it's 60fps on PS2 and being able to race cot was huge as I already had 07 but had to have 08 because of the hype. 360 version I bought 08 and 09 a couple years ago as I didn't have 360 till I was almost an adult can honestly say I am glad I didn't have to play it however with assists on 09 isnt nearly as bad as 08.

Most of These racing games are designed for wheels to steer. Settings should be considered for controller. American trucker is terrible to until you adjust the steering settings. I’ll give this game a try. But something tells me the settings need to be adjusted. This game can’t be that bad.

Yeah 08 had bad controls and physics. But I disagree when you mentioned 09 in the same sentence. That game fixed those issues.

Buddy, don't you know? Pain IS content (Just look at all the fail compilations). As for this game, yeah I kinda forgot about the part with the controller: Just don't. First time I tryed this with the pad, Hated it. On a Super Speedway? Hated it. On a Mile 1/2? Hated it. On a Short Track? Hated it. On a Road Course? Mildly more bearable (Probably because this game uses the gmotor engine, something thats far better at Road Racing). So on a controller its stupid with AND without assists (Its two kinds of stupid, you're basically just choosing which way you want to have brain damage). Granted I only tryed at Watkins Glen (because I was recording for a Nascar themed video at Watkins Glen while going throw various Nascar games), but this is definately another example of how the controller players were an after thought because its way more manageable with the wheel for me. Will have to hook it back up just to make sure now that I have room to hook my stuff back up (And with my G29 being backwards compatible for the PS3, feeling shouldn't be too different) but I definitely remember how much my Logitech G27 transformed the game for me, not perfect but far less frustrating in my experience.

Youve gotta build setups. These games were based off the rFactor engine. If youre throwing sparks all the way through the corner like that, its gonna drive like shit.

NASCAR 09 is a far different experience. It was a sad day when EA took the servers down.

I had this on PS3 when I got my PS3 the career mode is a complete and utter joke it's literally complete different challenges in the petty driving experience car to earn different cars for your garage so you can actually complete all the races in a entire season it's like they didn't even try to make an actual career mode. It's almost as if they ran out of development time to create one at all and at the last minute rushed the garbage they decided on its laughable. There's no driver retirements either so it gets monotonous real quick I mean it's like they didn't even try

In my opinion, this game and 09 still has the best graphics in all of NASCAR console gaming. Like it's not even close, next gen at the time did it justice, BUT, they ultimately failed with controls and physics. Tbh, i liked it enough to where my two true complaints, was the damage model. One little tap, looks like you wrecked into the wall. I didn't want to turn it off, but went back and forth on it because it took a little fun out of it but then i get mad at the damage. And the I absolutely hated the career mode, i just wanted to sign with a team and race that said car.

This was my issue with 09. I feel like EA fucking up the handling on both games ruined any future the games had and after a failed first 2 games on the new consoles EA just kinda gave up.

I was so excited for this game. Then a demo released for the game and I downloaded it and was massively disappointed. I decided to pass on the game and gave nascar 10 a chance a couple years later. I liked 10 but it was still not as fun as the games on the Xbox, ps2 and gamecube. Nascar console gaming died with nascar 08

Martinsville is a terrible track to drive because your car always wants to flip

I tried playing this game with my Xbox 360 wheel and struggled because if I was coming off a left hand turn and I was in process of straightening the wheel, the car would continue to turn left

You're 1,000,000% TROLLING. I've been playing nascar games on xbox since 2004 and have NEVER had these issues. I played 01-03 on PS2 but left Sony for Halo and Microsoft in 2004. I own 04 through Ignition on XBox systems. I did recently buy a PS4, but I've won races AND championships on hard in nascar 08 in the 360. I got a win with phucking Robby Gordon at Dover on hard for goodness sakes.

I played this game in 2008. When I bought myself an X-Box 360. I loved this car racing series. And I was literally waiting to play this game. Before I bought myself an X-Box360, I just looked at the disc I purchased. And now the main thing. I played two full seasons in this game. And rose to 13th position in the first season, and to 6th place in the second season. My difficulty was high. I trained a lot, because in this game, damaging the car was tantamount to the end of the race. I got myself a notebook in which I wrote down all my settings for each route. A lot of test runs were carried out. I was literally on the joystick, achieving “micro control” of my car. I controlled every direction of my movement. I remember that it was important to adjust the tire pressure and adjust the suspension. I loved this game, for its graphics, and its old style. I loved the atmosphere and the tracks, especially all the uneven surfaces. It was very cool. Then it came out - Nascar 09. And I also skated there for several seasons. I really liked the lighting there. It's a shame that EA stopped making this series of games. The last Nascar game was Heat5. But the damage there is is very sad. It's just painful to see. There are not even scratches from the walls, there is nothing. Good lighting, good car model. That's all. The game is dead. Maybe someday I'll see an updated NASCAR. With old cars. And so on. I was trying to play the Nascar Assetto Corsa mod. But there is no damage there either. There are not so many cars on the highway. Unfortunately, we don't have a decent game yet. Except for the online games IRacing, but all this is not the same...
